can't you adjust the coilovers so you can have the rocker touching the floor at all the way down and all the way up for driving low?

here's how you're suppose to adjust the perch in my opinion/theory:
if you think about it, if the perch is cranked all the way down, you're going to have a HUGE gap between the top of the bag and the top strut mount. now imagine the shock piston moving up and down, and then imagine the bag deflated at a reasonable height... you're making more gap for rebound which is extremely bad. your strut mount will start hitting the bracket violently and your ride will be as scary as ever. the proper way of installing these bags on coilovers is to inflate the bag at max psi, and screw the perch up as much as possible, until the bag isn't moving. you do NOT want to deflate the bag then screw thet perch up because when the bags max out psi, the perch setting will not leave room for the bag to expand!!! unless anybody can confirm the reliability of these bags, either the bags will somehow get worn down really bad due to psi, or the perch thread will eventually give way because of the pressure, or your piston will begin to fail and leak because of the excess pressure while pulling the piston out(someone please confirm this - otherwise i will just assume that maxing out the piston length at full psi will leave no negative effects). to put it short, crank the perch down, slip on the bag, assemble, inflate, crank perch up. oh yeah, do this with the wheels off the ground.
possible issues.
1) HEIGHT - (this is relative to your question,
DaygoVIP619) specifically to UAS bags, there is a metal tube inside. i forgot how long it is, but if you crank up the perch to the point where the metal tube is higher than what you can max your dump at, you will be sitting on the metal tube instead of the shock i think, and will be sitting higher than what your max dump can be. UAS bags deflate down to about 4 inches if i remember, but again i dont know how long the metal tube is so i can't confirm. in any case, if it is indeed the same length when the bag is deflated, then there should be no issue since 4 inches is more than enough if you think about the gap between the piston and top of the bag when slammed
2) CLUNKING - what i hate about this slip on bag design is the fact that there is a gap between the top of the bag and the strut mount. if your coilovers are long stroke(whatever the specs are), you are SOL because of this. there will be a lot of gap between the top of the bag and the strut mount. i recommend coilovers that are short stroke and have dampening capabilities. dampening should be set to soft for rebound purposes. or if you go the cheap route, get some extrmely soft shocks that will last long. the only other way of avoiding this clunking is having a helper spring somehow on top, sort of like aircobra i think. that way you get that damping that you need so it wont hit the bag. or basically any super dense damping material that prevents the bag from hitting. i thought about using the bumpstop as a solution, but i think there's going to be too much pressure on it and it will eventually rip into shreads. or just ride donk (which i do, to get some even tire wear, a stiffer ride, and other stuff)

you need dual adjustable height coilovers..on the strut body and the perch. This way you can preload the inflated bag and then make your fine adjustments through the strut body.

WHen you put your bag on the coilover, fully inflate, then preload 2 or 3 CM.
then adjust your height via the shock body like Mike said.

mista808;98729 wrote:very nice. whats the specs on your wheels if you dont mind me asking....?
the wheel specs aren't to crazy to be honest... 19x8.5+33 19x9+27 lo-disk. the fronts have 15mm spacers to clear the huge ass brakes. i chose 235/35/19 all around. the real reason behind that was because it was on sale, but it turned out looking good - the front wheels at least have some identity as with the rears. the front had some fender rolling naturally done... tires pushed them up so it's all good. i like how the car doesn't have that old school vip look where it's all about tire stretching and max cambering. too gaudy, too much noise going on. i think i could use a bigger tire in the back though, but i would have to shave/roll.. too lazy too think about doing that right now
implayaz9 wrote:hey sup man. quick question. how did u modify to make the uas fit th coilovers?.. do u have a link where there is a diy on this or if u can give me some info that would be awsome
i did not modify anything. the bag takes place of the spring (it literally slips over the strut body), and everything else works the way it is intended to work. the strut body needs to be no more than 2.10" in diameter to be able to fit. tein cst v2 for my ls is 2.07" in diameter, so it's pretty damn close to perfect fitment.
goto
http://www.airridetalk.com/beginners-corner/ click on each air ride component and try to understand how everything works together. then find diagrams (can be found at UAS website) to see the bigger picture. air ride installation is time consuming, and requires some knowledge of wiring, plumbing (of fittings), and general automotive suspension knowledge. a lot of prep work should be done off of the car before installation. if you know how things work, everything will be very easy.

here how far my project has been coming along. i had to remove tints in the front and the purp/pink hid lights cause of fix it tickets from a nov 4 meet in san diego. i ended up hooking up only the fogs and using 8000k bulbs as "headlights"

traded bulbs with my friend (fogs). well, i still have the pink/purp one in H4 but i'm not going to risk getting pulled over again.. so i took it out. it's sitting around collecting dust now until i can find out a better use for it. i think it looks better like this imo. i gotta get some wed orange led wedge bulbs for my corner lights. clear "regular" led wedge bulbs aren't cutting it for me. bbl gonna grab a pair at autobacs right now lol
