Hawaii SuperFerry Needs our help!

Aloha guys.. within the past month there has been huge issue with Hawaii's newest means of travel. The Hawaii Super ferry is heer in the islands sitting idol becuase of a few enviromentalist that want to stop the new service and have done a good job.. 
 
Many locals in Hawaii have been very quite on this issue untill the past week. 
 
As many of you know already that Hawaii is surounded by water and ulike the states we cant jump in our cars and travel from County to County.. the only way is to fly or send your car ona bardge that takes a week to get to the neigbor islands. 
 
WE need this service so that we can send our cars to neibor islands and share our Ideas!

Spead the word Bro.. these tansplaneted locals that will prob leave Hawaii after a few years or months dont care becuase they dont plan on living in Hawaii for ever. US locals have livined in Hawaii so long and this service canonly beifit all of us.. 
 
If it wasnt for this guys my car would have been at the last show on Maui.. 
 
and look what happend to Rons XB when he shipped it on ALoha Airlines for 2000 .. they messed up the car! IF the ferry was running non of this wouldhave happend to Rons Car.

Thats what I was going to say. I want to know the other side before I vote yes. I mean the waters are beautiful over there. It sounds like a great way of transportation but I mean where exactly are they driving the boat.

They did the environmental assessment already.  That's the thing that pisses me off.  It had been cleared already.  It has a short keel...very so in comparison to all the container and other ships coming in and out EVERY DAY.  This ALL has to do with politics...trust me.

The Ferry will be make one round trip a day to MAui and Kauai.. from Harbor ro Harbor.. Cruise ships, Matson, Barges and what not are going back of forth out of these harbors. cars are being transported every day Via the barges. Drug are going back and forth on Airlines and Mail to Kauai where there was 2 big raids in the past month and the ferry wasnt even running. 
 
Whales are anouther issue.. The ferry's service is to transport people and there cars and for people to stay with there cars and not have to sacrafice not having there cars for a week. you get you car and you drive it on and off the ferry the same day. There are busniess that chater people right up to these same whales that there are so worried the ferry will run over. IM pretty sure that this being one of the newest boats to sail tey have technology to avaid these whales. and im sure they wouldnt want to even hit a whale or to go close to a whale.. These people make as if whales get hit every year in Hawaii. 
 
The next issue they making noise about is invasive species.. ants comming from the Big island to Maui.. what makes them think these same ants will not hitch a ride on the Barges or planes.. Kauai was making noise about the mongooes.. again the same after amany many years these mongooes could just have got on aplane or that barges.. right now agricuture doesnt even check the barges and whats going on them nor the cruise ships.The ferry isonly operating in hawaii and not like these cruise ships that go from contry to counrty than to Hawaii, you dont know what lurks under these boats and inside the boats.  the ferry has agricutre inspectors check very car that goes on it.. To tell you the truth i could rightnow go to the ig island catch some ants stick it in a plasic bottle and place it in my pocket and get on aplane.. why becuase they are more worried about bombs.. 
 
Anouther is traffic.. 100 cars leave from honolulu to go to Kauai.. guess what 100 cars from Kauai get on the ferry to go Honolulu.. where in any ways are we adding any more car on the streets of kauai. what make them think that people wont rent a car... if they want to solve traffic poroblem those people that are grumbleing should just give up there cars and walk.. and protest Servco from sending any mroe new car to Kauai and Maui. they grumble about more people going tho the islands.. tourist and visitors is what keeps Hawaii going. cut that off to our islands and imagine what would hapen to Hawaii.. Also they didnt gruble when go airlines cut fares to prices that no onemake money off of it.. when the fares dropped Hawaiian and Aloha added even more seats and more people was flying from Island to island.. if any thing they should be more wooried about that becuase a round trip on the ferry is over 350 bucks with your car.. and airline ticket is only about 100 bucks these days.. do the math what way would you travel.. Ferry take 3 hour to get from island to island.. Plane takes tops 45 min.. ferry have one boat... 4 trips.. planes have tons of them and tons of fllights every single day.. 
 
This whole issue and im sad to say this is majority people that are not ture Locals to Hawaii. call it it there homes and yes we welcomed them with open arms to the islands. It is just the minority that dont want this service becuase they lived in the big city in the states and they want to keep Kauai or maui from moving forward with tecnology. Every that grew up in Hawaii know whats best for there islands. these transplanted Locals on Kauai prob was never lining there when Hurricane INIKI hit that island.. this ferry that there trying to stop would have made a huge differance for them getting euqipment and supplies over there to do repairs.. 
 
This whole issue has divided Hawaii and its Ohana.. Non LOcals saying no come to our island.. it was never there island.. 
 
And yes this now has become a political battle now with the republicans and democrats.. instead of helping these ferry get sailing there doing the blame game and want to find out why did the gov do this? just let the ferry run while getting the EIS. 
 
I hope this can explain some to those that dont know whats going on.. 
 
Hawaii has no other meens of transporttation.. from when the first Hawaiians found Hawaii they found it using the sea.. and so did the first white man that came to Hawaii.. The ferry is what Hawaii needed long ago and some one was willing to invest money for Hawaii to have a service and a option to travel. Its time for Hawaii to have the ferry service. 
 
I can go on and on about this.. im one of the supporters big tie for this and I even help them do a commercial with our Scions and how car enthusist will benifit from the ferry.. 
 
So i understand everyone has there own opinions... and respect that.. i think there no reason the ferry is bad for Hawaii..

i voted yes.  i was really hoping that the issue would've been resolved already.

hell yeah.  support the super ferry.  so we have a track to go to (maui or kauai), sum fresh krispy kreme (maui), etc....

It doesnt really effect me that much but I would definately vote yes. The same thing happened where I live. They ordered 2-4 high speed Catamarans and used them for a few months before the neighbours/environmentalists started complaining that the wake of the ship was destroying the coastline. Hundreds of millions of dollars spent on nothing. Sold them at a fraction of the cost too. Taxpayers were choked. Do you have them already?

I can't stand these quasi-militant environmentalist tree-huggers.  Were probably talking about the same people who set entire Hummer dealerships and new housing developments on fire just to prove a point.

On my three trips to HI, I had always wondered why there was no easier form of inter-island travel other than the laughable 10-minute plane ride on Aloha Air, lol. This Superferry is EXACTLY what the islands need. 

There are enough whale-watching boats and other tourist related vessels traveling around all of the islands that a network of ferries isnt gonna do squat to the reefs, wildlife, etc.

yup they have one here already and onemore still being built.. and the tax payers will will end up lossing big time if they choose to leave hawaii..

Do I consider myself a treehugger?  Not one bit.  But I like to hear from both sides.  I have lots of family on Oahu that are separated on the ideas... I was all for it also but now not sure.

im all for it, funny thing I find is I just came back from big island and you gotta see the HUGE tour boats parked offshore Kailua side and when they leave that huge boat can really fly...makes you wonder

but it seems like its someone opinion and not true facts. I talked to my freinds on Kauai and they want the ferry.. these are real Locals not those transpants in which call them selves locals.. 
 
But who ever made that page doesnt see the whole picture.... and prob a non Local.. they just the people of Kauai to stay away from technology. If they wanted to preserve the land those that are complaining should give up there cars, and live off of the land. 
 
I fly free so why would i take the ferry.. everyone knows in Hawaii that ever sence GO airlines came into busness fares have droped to prices in which airline dont make a profit. and more people are flying now more than ever, these people never complained about that nor protested. Yes it is cheaper but can you bring your car? For most of us on this site thats from Hawaii we would love to bring our cars there to share our ideas and style of rides.. IT might cost more but for me its worth it. becuase it aint much more. Maybe if we can infuleance some of these kids on neigbor islands there wouldnt be such a huge drug problem.. in which kids will build a car instead of do drugs. 
 
The talk about the cost of travel.. but like any busniess there in it to make money.. not break even.. 
 
Invasive species.... all the same stuffs that will go on the ferry right now travels through Barges, planes and crusie ships.. why not pick on those means of trnsportation.. 
 
The mongooes has been in Hawaii for many years.. Has it reached Kauai yet? after how many years.. So what they are saying the mongooes is going to now also want to ride the ferry? 
 
When United, american, ATA and Aloha added direct flights to kauai was there an EIS done??? why arent these people complaining about this.. becuase there all from the states and they dont want to go through Honoulu to get tot he states.. All those flights added more people to there island.. all of them rented cars.. allof them drove on the roads of kauai. they should go protest to the car rental places to stop renting cars to visitors becuase its cuasing more traffic.. 
 
They talk about Eco freindly.. why didnt the mention that the ferry catches all there waste water and diposes it when they dock. no other ship here does that.. they are also compairing Jet feaul and Marine fuel what fue burns cleaner? Jet feul. Jet feul has barely no oils unlike Desial feul. dont ask me why because thats anouther topic..
 
they talk about parks and traffic and fishing spots.. these are all open to the public who the hell are they to say its theres? and i can bring the same fising poll and sleeping bag and rent a car and go fishing and fly in on Hawaiian air. 
 
Safety... Drugs!!! this one makes me luagh.. with in the last month with no super ferry huge drug bust in which they find tons on Weed growing in the mountains.. with in the past feww weeks and still no ferry they had a huge drug bust of ICE in which these guys was flying it in on flights and thourgh the mail.. Wow all of a sudden the ferry in which isnt running will add the there drg problems on Kauai.. you wopuldnt wana know how easy it is to walk right past TSA and carry drugs on you.. why would drug dealers use the ferry.. im pretty sure they will fill up there cars with ICE and let the AGriculture inspectors find it.. than why would theifs from Honolulu and go Kauai to rob houses? Im sure they will steal a free ride on the ferry go rob a house or steal a car and steal anouther ride on the ferry back home..

coral, whales, enviroment, blah blah blah, excuses...  the ferry is running on the same route as tug boats, the pride of aloha (island to island cruise) and many other ships!  

i would like to see the ferry running, but...  i don't like to hear people going to another island to steal imu rocks, 4x4 trucks tearing up the land and so on!  

i'm all for it...  although, it's cheaper to fly!

IF you notice all the last names of those that belong to the enviromentalist groups in which was pointed out in the news. there wasnt one asian person. why isint any asians heads for these groups. 
 
What i meen by locals is people like myself and many others in which was born and rasied in Hawaii. Just a coencidence that all those names are of non asians. The last name thing was something that i wrote becuase of my feelings. i know that there are smiths baldwins and what not that are not asian last manes they have been here for along time. But when youlive in Hawaii and see the news and a person with non black hair is always on the news protesting it get to us locals.. those that grew up in Hawaii learned in school Hawaiian History and we all learned how Hawaii became like this after the frist white man landed in the islands. But what can we do nothing just welcome everyone with the Aloha Sprit we dont go protesting to keep anymmore NON LOcals out od hawaii becuase our street are full ooff traffic or becuase we all know Hawaii over populated already we just live with it.  but agian thats anouther topic that can get to long.. I know alot of people on kauai and maui becuase I work for the local airlines and i travel back and forth there talk to many people when im on the flights commuting. booth type of people and you can tell who are the Locals and not locals and mojoruty of the locals want it and most of the nonlocals say they dont want it. i have an 60 YO freind/ CO woker that wants the ferry and others in every age group. they are not just freinds that are my age. And i Also have fmaily there that are pissed at those Transpalned locals that are complaining. 
Local by means of born and raised not Hawaiian. 
 
Drugs... you say they can put more in cars. very ture. and prob more than carrying it on aplane on your body.. but cars travel through the barge system every day within Hawaii. A freind that works there told me there are not really any type of inspections that look for drugs. they are looking for bombs. 
 
SO for me what im trying to say is no matter what you do drug will always be a probem but lets not just pick on the ferry service becuase there are other means of getting drugs there. At least the fery servive will have agricuture inspectors checking the cars and passengers unlike the Barges. 
 
I also see the threat of hitting a whale.. but it justp isses me off that people from out of state come to Hawaii open a busniess can call it whale watching, again not to be bold againt Local transplants but i notice these things. they take groups of people on boat to look for whales and tehy come up so close to these whales a kid got killed a few years back on maui.. IF there so concerned over saving these whales whynot ban those guys that run these busniess. I'll tell you why they can do that.. the write there busniesss off as a reseaerch. they just use that to bend the rules. but are they really doing reasearch i dont think so.. So why doesnt the ferry do that same. NOW they compain of speed.. whats hidingin the deep oceans NAve Subs in which travel just as fast as a sub or faster.. ask the nave how many whales they have hit.. none that we no off..
 
it called being fair! for me.. and thats what upsets me about this issues.. 
 
but again i know there are many opinions i respect them and we all in Hawaii that suport the ferry thank everyone for there support. Hopefully we can spread the VIP Style to the garden Isle. IM pretty sure there are kids there that are amazed about the style and would love to see a slammed lexus Nissan or any VIP style car done right. Rightnow all they have is mags to get some ideas from.

quite honestly I read all I needed to a few months back. It doesnt really impact me enough personally to run through all of this issue by issue at this point.

Understand that I am also a great lover of nature and have been skiing, snowboarding, mountain-biking, hiking, camping,etc. all my life. I understand that man has some degree of an impact on the environment as we attempt to make our lives easier via technology. 

I also have the vision to see that the condition of this planet as a whole isn't quite as much under our control as we would like to think. It's all about finding a balance between us and nature. I just have a serious distaste for the ELF-types out there.

See, what's funny is that I'm a diver (scuba/snorkel/free) and also in the Civil Defense.  We look after most of the island as far as nature goes and how things effect it.  The impact testing was completed already and it passed.  The ONLY reason this is being drawn out is due to unions and politics.  I also work at the airport, so I know the ins and outs of the BS that's circulating...and it has NOTHING to do with nature, that's a huge scapegoat...
