NEW WEDS MAY BE TOO NASTY OF AN OFFSET!!

I DONT KNOW IF IM GONNA LOVE THIS OR HATE IT BUT IM ABOUT TO BUY SOME WEDS BORPHES SIZED 19X8.5+6 AND 19X10-17! I KNOW THAT IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN MAKE ALMOST ANYTHING FIT BUT IM WONDERING IF I HAVE ENOUGH REAR FENDER TO PLAY WITH ON MY GS.
I HAVE NAGISA AUTO REAR ADJ. ARMS THAT WILL ALLOW SOME CAMBER. THESE WHEELS ARE DOPE AS F*&k AND THEY WOULD REALLY SET OFF THE GS.

SHOULD I TAKE THE PLUNGE OR CHOOSE ANOTHER ROUTE? OPINIONS PLEASE

you remember how spanky did his flare with those -7 AME's? i know he had some good pull time on that to make it work. im not using air so im gonna try to play with the arms and coilovers to make it work. i think if i can get the tire to fit with ease, while the car is rolling, when i hit dips or normal driving the wheel should flex inside the fender. you think?

from 7 to 17mm...yeah, i think you can do it like spanky's but with a little camber of course.

yea you have a point there Em'! this is close to being a lil too much but i think i can make it look good. i know some people try to go 19x11 or 12 w/ nasty offsets to be "vip" but i dont see the need of that on my car. i have to remember that the car has to perform as well as it looks.

those sizes are really not that bad. I'm sure you can pull it off and it would look great. Don't just sit there and play negative camber all day until it sits flat on the ground. Give yourself more room within the fenders, try to get a nice pull by a professional or try out some blended overfenders. You have many options here.

19x9 +12 and 19x10 +12 fits perfectly with a roll and mild pull...as in one that you mostly won't be able to tell was done...this is if you're on coilovers at flush driving height or on air. Yes, you could go more, but it will be obvious..otherwise it'll be camber city as above.

what im gonna have to do is pull the inner lip out on the rear and shave a little bit once its out. ill create a flare with it @ that point which will have a higher rise than just leaving it the way it is, flared out. the only reason ill need camber is to make the wheel pre-sink in the wheel wells, so when i go cruising, they will flex in when the coilover is compressed while driving.

trust me, ill make it Bakuto certified!!

Hmmm, interesting that you think you will save money on "cheap" wheels... but then end up spending more money and time (and time is money) to get them to fit, and inevitably look possibly like they don't belong. Would it not be a better idea to spend more and get something that fits super nice already? There's a number of people on this board who go out and try to get the craziest wheels possible (US mentality), and show the wheels off like crazy when they get them, then realize, uh oh, this isn't going to fit too well on the car, and the wheels end up sitting in the garage for quite a while. Or, sometimes they do put them on, but they have to fuck up their fenders so much it looks like an attack of herpes HSV1 on the fender lips, and they essentially give thier car a salvage title cuz the only way to *truly* repair a rear qtr panels is to cut it out and reweld a new one in place, and the cost of doing so is greater than the car in the case of some of these older cars... BUT I love it when those peeps take sneaky shots that never show the true extent of the fender yucknes... the internet is deceiving.

Just because you are saving on the actual wheels, you have to keep in mind that you will go through tires more frequently with the added camber as well as the cost of the body work. I only bring that up because it seems like the main reason you are getting the wheels is because of the price. Im not stopping you though, im a fan of making the wheels fit the car but only if it is done right.

aight people, lets get one thing straight. i want these wheels because i like em'. i wouldnt care if they cost 3-4 grand, considering that WEDS "new" run appx. 1700-1900 bucks per wheel!! with my car, money is not a hurdle for me. BUT i know a deal when i see one. if i was money cautious with this car, i PROBABLY wouldnt own it!

now, with that being said, im not a newbie when it comes to fitment of wheels on vehicles. if i can tub a 62 bel-air with a ford 9 inch rear end and sit mickey thompsons under it and put 19x11 +15 offset Volk SF Winnings under the rear of a MK4 without a TRD widebody, i THINK i can find a way to fit these on the GS.

sometimes you have to have a pair in your pants to set yourself apart from the norm.

thanks for the replies peeps:biggthumpup:

Hmmm, well I'd tubbed my '67 datsun fairlady roadster (i.e. barely larger than a bugeye sprite) to fit 18x9.5" sterns with a custom irs about 10 years back, and tuck 19x11", +6mm (about a 10", -6mm, but worse cuz it's 1" wider so there's less room on the inside than that equivalent 10", -6mm) on my g50 q45, and even I still think it's more worthwhile to get something that you will be able to easily put on the car to enjoy now, and with little modification, nee, detriment to the car itself. No one's saying it can't be done... but is it worth it really to save a couple hundred bucks? When the final result is more than likely going to look like it doesn't belong? Not many folks around here have a track record of making wheels look like they belong, ESPECIALLY when they go too aggressive... they might just barely get the tires under the fender lip and all, but at what cost? Herpes duck-bill looking fenders, low-rider looking stance due to lack of ability to pull in enough neg camber, or usually both. Yet, nowadays that kinda fitment passes as "hella fush" in the US. And anyways, as you said, you're not a poor guy, so you can easily get the same wheels brand new if need be and get them in exactly the perfect offset rear AND front... cuz the fronts were, what, 8.5", +6mm? Wouldn't it be better to get equally aggressive fronts to match the rears while you're at it?

As far as being "different," in many ways, going with that setup will actually make you like a lot of people in the US though... I have a new saying lately: "Years ago, 240 people thought +38mm offset was flush. Now they think -38mm offset is flush. When will they learn?" Waaay too many 240 people nowadays trying to be "hella flush" and end up missing the mark completely by going too far the other way. So it might actually be more different, to have an aggressive setup that looks like it belongs!

I HAVE NAGISA AUTO REAR ADJ. ARMS THAT WILL ALLOW SOME CAMBER. THESE WHEELS ARE DOPE AS F*&k AND THEY WOULD REALLY SET OFF THE GS.

SHOULD I TAKE THE PLUNGE OR CHOOSE ANOTHER ROUTE? OPINIONS PLEASE

BUT I love it when those peeps take sneaky shots that never show the true extent of the fender yucknes... the internet is deceiving.

i agree with what OnetonVIP is saying. too me if you want a project then by all means. I have seen so many cars here and swear they literally dont do there cars right. This is speaking of vegas cars by the way. we get it all here. trust me. people putting 22s on a ferraris or just rediculous things. guess it all depends on what you are going for. i do understand Bakuto-sans point as well. Too me though im not a fan of the lip of the wheel sticking out of the fenders. Sometimes there is a line where you have to figure out what looks nice and what is safe. if this is a daily then i would not try to fit something beyond the physical limits of the car. it will looks weird and it will be unsafe. running so much camber and not having enough tire contact. plus keep in mind when you have to go so wide to fit under the fender you have to figure out the tire size to go. with that in mind you have to figure out which tire that can stretch to reach that limit. Also another safety and pratical issue. im not trying to discourage you but these wheels were made for a different car. Id agree with OnetonVIP. if money is not an issue purchase another set that you can customize the offsets to your car so it looks proportionate and pratical. just my insite on it. good luck with the wheel journey!!

I like those wheels well enough, but listen to Van.

i think what bakuto-san is trying to do is do-able. if it comes out looking good, everyone that didnt think it would sit nice and have flawless body mods will probably retract their statements.

a person's idea's always seem to get beat on no matter what.
i say, bakuto-san, you aint gonna please everyone with your choice, but what matters is if you love it. if someone doenst like it, tell them to buy you a set with their money and see what happens.......

good luck on your wheel choice and if its these; i cant wait to see the out come since you're here in dallas.

Again, no one said it's not doable... but this is a case where you really gotta ask yourself "can i REALLY do this" before proceeding, cuz this isn't a 500 dollar 240sx you're going to fuck up if you do fuck up. Then again, i applaud people who can approach all their cars as if they're 500 dollar pos, cuz that's when things really happen. I've always figured, worst case scenario, you throw the car away and chalk it up to experience, so if you feel you can do that too, then go go nuts. Otherwise, you end up like the greater MAJORITY who go go nuts, don't succeed, and take sneaky pics to show off on the internet, but in real life, they are sad every time they see those STD-ridden fenders staring back at them...

kevin: you still got my mopar issue of A-cars?? i got you and the wifey hot dogs at the all nissan meet in '03 or whatever, but you forgot my A-cars!

hmmmm... more extreme fitment than 10", -17mm below... see, no one says it can't look like it'll belong. oh yeah, no fucking up fenders here either....
BAM!
