Those with slammed S13s
or related chassis cars..
What are some things to look out for, or to take into account if I'm going to go very low with an S13 chassis? My Protege was as simple as new struts, but it seems like the S13 has a lot more going on...
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
I need to find a suspension diagram as well...
If there are some vital components that need to be replaced in order to achieve a good stance (I reckon a good amount of camber adjustabilty will come in handy), I might as well replace before I have the car registered... I want to avoid double-buying parts.
But, no rush, I need do drivetrain first anyways...just putting it out there.

Certain coilovers go lower then others. You should relocate the wire harness in the wheel well if you plan to go super low. If youre gonna drive aggressively, depending on wheel/tire size youre gonna have to hammer the front wheel wells. With multilinks youll be able to set your alignment to whatever you want.

slammed s13? what, did you pick up one? if so, head over to zilvia.net. there's a lot of info there, and also a lot more BS than here too LOL. It's a good place though.

Quality coilovers and a big hammer will go a long ways. But really it depends on how low you really want to go. The hardest part of s13's are the front inner fenders (directly above the tire) even with good coilovers that will go super low you will be hindered by the chassis touching the tire. You can get around this but it not easy... at all. That's my biggest pet peve on s13 when the rear is crazy low but the front barely tucks tire.... haha sounds a lot like y33s, interesting.
This car is by no means as low as i would like it to be but at that height i'm running into problems with the inner fender, i plan on modifying it some more (ie beating the shit out of it) but here's a reference on height:

Thanks for the info so far. I am on Zilvia too, that's where I saw an example of tucking the harness in the fender, little things like that will save me some headaches. I doubt I'll put the inner fender liner back in (is that the inner fender you were referring to?) because I don't intend for this to be a practical car anyways. Or did you mean the metal?
Essentially the goal is to have the car as low as possible (and still get it out of my backlane), so I guess I should be using all the tips/tricks I can get for a very low car.
My knowledge is at 0 for this car at the moment.

lol no not the plastic liner. The metal. There is a seam weld above the tire you will have to beat flat. Also depending on wheel size the seam weld behind the tire (on the firewall/floor) will have to be flattened. You will eventually run into problems with where the harness runs into the cabin if your running bigger than 17's. I just relocated my entire chassis harness inside the engine bay so never had to worry about it on my s14. My s13 the harness is also relocated and is ran through the frame rails for ultra stealth... haha but you can't see any wires. :-)

do this in order as soon as you get the car.
1 remove both front fenders
remove inner fender liners
relocate harnesses (both sides, there is a small one on teh other side you need to make sure it doesnt fall)
get a torch, heat up all the metal in the fenderwell.
bang the shit out of it
mainly the front of the fenderwell and push it out a few inches
EVERY ridge, bang it flat
ive done this entirely too much.

If your wondering it's the pinch welld in the wheel well. in the same area where the wire harness that needs to be located resides the is a metal "fin" the sticks out this can cut into your tire and cause it to blow prematurely, that is what you need ot hammer flat.

you should get a matching rear, nice car though
yeah pretty much fenderwells need to be hammmered alot to get the car low.

Roddog, thanks for promoting your car without answering my question, :slap:lol
Anyways.
Yokotas13, what suspension did you have that tucked 18s? I can't recall seeing many S13s that tucked, especially in front.

Whats kool about s chassis front coilovers is that if you max it out you can flip the bottom bracket that connects to the knuckle and lower it a little. Also you can take off one of the lock perches and use the bottom bracket to lock the perch for spring preload. Its the rear you have to worry about, certain coilovers have too long of a shock in the rear and will bottom out the adjustment. I think thats more of a problem with s14 though. What coilovers are you considering? There are a lot of newer affordable decent quality coilovers such as stance, kbee, and part shop max.

Stance is good stuff, Tein FLEX, I had Kei Office (which is now DG5) on my s13. Just don't get a shitty coilover like the usual megan/k-sport/d2. they won't go low enough, and they won't last long enough.

A company called FOotwerk with custom length springs
i had 120mm 10k springs. so it can go hella low
this was it on 17s before i went to 18s and went lower

and with 18s slightly raised becuase i moved to a different parking spot

Thanks. I was looking at the Stance GR+, and Part Shop Max. Hopefully by next spring I can have a car that at least moves on its own.

i got the Stance GR+pros and they go crazy low but look out it seems like everyone who ordered recently including m got shitty front pillowball mounts that dont rotate. Stance sendsfree replacements it just kinda sucks. But a hammer will be your best friend in slamming your car.

i have the Stance GR+ and i like them
i went all the way down without any preload on the spring and it's pretty low. i'm running 17's though and driving around town is a little tough, but it looks good IMO.
i heard the parts shop max coilovers are pretty stiff though so its probably hard for daily driving.
