Tire Stretchin' Gurus needed!!!

let's get straight to it, i got some 18x8 and 18x9 wheels, i need to know if i run 215/40-18 on the 8j's and 235/40-18 on the 9j's will this give me a noticable mild stretch? and which tires do you people recommend?

205 40 and a 215 40 will be a mild stretch

I have 225/40 on my 18x9s and its a very mild stretch. Doesnt rub though so there's no need to go more
 
Here's a thought though... How about picking tyres that give you the [i]clearance[/i] that you need, rather than picking them just for the 'stretched look.' Cos stretching just for the hell of it looks stupid...

as soon as i get a chance to test fit the wheels i'll know what kind of clearance issue i will have. for now i'm just getting an idea of it maybe needing a mild stretch :smiley: . i wouldn't mind it stretchin' a bit just for the hell of it even if i don't need it to for clearance.

２２５/35on a 8.5 is a noticeable stretch, i would think 215/40 on 8 would be mild. 215/40 on a 9 exposes a bit of barrel.

I would like to add that stretching is not safe.  Run the least amount of stretch that you can get away with.  The sizes you listed is not a stretch at all.  To actually see a bit of a you should run a [QUOTE]205 40 and a 215 40[/QUOTE]
Or instead of the 40, run a 35 so your even lower to the ground but yet still have enough tire to take a pothole from time to time

No not really.  It does make the wheel look smaller but I wouldnt say it looks bad.  He never said what car it was going on.  If its on a smaller car or a coupe then it would look fine with a 35 series.

i have a 205/40/17 on my rims and i have a mild strect to them. here's a pic.

What wheel specs are those? I'm running 205/40-17 on a 7.5, it's lesser stretch than yours...

It also depends on the tires.....Dunlop SportMaxx don't stretch at all.

bingo. but i would have to say that a 215 is barely a stretch at all on a 8".

you cant get a good stretch off a 7.5..

the specs are 17x8.5 +25 all around..

I'm trying to push for flush look, so I needed the stretch. Infact it still rubs... :'(

well you can always roll or pull your fenders so the wont rub. infact i need to do that on mine.

I've rolled mine, it's not the fender that rubs (maybe I'm not sitting as low as I should? :lol: ), it's the bumper retainer bolt that's right next to the fender that's creating the problem. It's on a Sentra N16 (somewhat similiar to B15 from the States side).

On my next mod, will shave the bolt (will it still hold the bumper strong enough?) and maybe some pulling... Will see how it goes.
