Are you a champion for the VIP cause???
More and more lately I find myself on various other forums like clublexus, cardomain and many others telling people about VIP, the history, accepted platforms, importance of stance and fitment, etc.
I think it's hugely important to correct the early bandwagon jumpers who are calling their rides VIP when they're clearly not. It actually gets pretty frustrating to watch people throw the the term around so loosely, because I usually can't help myself when it comes to setting them straight. It's getting to the point where I feel like the "VIP police" or something, lol.
Am I the only one who does this??? Do I need to just relax and not give two squirts about it?

I do correct people when they've got it wrong. I can't stand when people have stuff wrong.

Yah, like what the hell is "bippu"? Which American created the term..they need slapped. "vip" is vip, no matter what language pronounces it.

i was wondering about that. i've heard "bippu" "vippu" and "vip" where the correct ways to say it but i still read it as "v-i-p". even on the phones with some vendors, they say "v-i-p". i am not a champion since i am on the "vip style" side of things. there are some other maxima guys headed towards vip, and i don't feel the need to correct them. if their ride comes out nice nobody else will, if it sucks they're doomed anyway.

I did, but I don't bother anymore. I know what needs to be done to make it true to the scene.

When a style is at it's infancy stage, it's crucial to get the foundation right and strong and let people base upon that.
Otherwise, it will be all croaked and stuffs when the boom came and all hell breaks lose. Ya know, people likes to jump on the bandwagon and call themselves VIPcar/VIPStyled/VIP Inspired although clearly they're not. I've seen some stock cars with a hood mascot and label themselves as VIP, I was like OMG WTF?!
Sometimes it gets too tiring trying to explain the true VIP format. Some people just choose to take the easy way out.
At times, I'm at the verge of giving up on explanining and just keep it to myself.
Just my two cents.

I think people lable cars VIPstyle/VIPinspired are just being ridiculous. I think VIP is VIP, whether you have the platform or not is what really matters. The style that you add to your VIP PLATFORMED CAR makes it VIP styled.Making exclusions is letting bandwagon hoppers able to jump on. People have always lowered cars on wheels. They call them "a lowered car on rims":signdammit: , it doesnt make them VIP even if the wheels are chrome. It's spreading on like the Honda world, where cheapo's and lowballers want to get in the game.
But in the VIP world, you've got to Pay to Play. Let's get real here, There really isn't a VIP inspired car. Get a VIP car or get the f@ck out!:thelaw:
Just my thoughts... I don't run around much telling people if they're VIP or not. Just let them mod the cars the way they want to... at the end of the day the people who know and love the culture will just think of it a another car. And they aren't VIP at all. If you're up for it, flame everyone that isn't VIP'd!!!

I dont even bother outside of the VIP world. People just think my car is lowered on rims. To me thats cool as long as they think it looks good.
I do try to help people who are trying to go after the look but are lost

vip IS vip. the style that you add to your VIP PLATFORM CAR makes you vip. a vip car does not roll of the lot vip, it's how you mod it. therefore, if you were to make those same modifications to a non-platform car, they would be vip styled. get it tough guy? very literal use of words. you should respect the vip styled guys the way we respect vip. we're not the ones saying "this is vip", we're the ones with enough respect to say "no this isn't vip, its just similar". by no means does it mean we spend less money than you. i pay the same price you do for suspension (probably more), wheels, and accesories. i'm working on getting a custom body kit PRODUCED, not made, PRODUCED i.e. this is me and this is MY bodykit, would you like to buy one? i'm PRODUCING my own LED tails. see where i'm going here? i spent more money on prototypes last week than you probably did on your car last month, and they'll never see the road.
so let's get real here, on VIPSTYLECARS.com, theres a whole bunch of vip inspired cars (as well as true vip cars) so deal with it or get the f**k out.
What are you talking about? Who cares how much money you have spent? Spend your your whole bankroll for all I care...no disrespect... and were not trying to debate nor am I trying to be tough...
I should respect non-platformed VIP styled cars? I respect any aspect of modifications to any car. No hating here, but all far as it goes...
low and wide? I believe thats where VW's will play a roll... so now that VIP has rolled into the scene... anything similar will be called VIP inspired? umm dont think so
"Just my thoughts... I don't run around much telling people if they're VIP or not. Just let them mod the cars the way they want to..."
Do what you do to your car  At the end of the day staring at a Junction Produce catalog asking yourself.
Why don't they make sh!t for my car? :eek4wtf:
anyways. back on topic... i say let them do what they want.

It's hard to argue with people trying to make cars fit in a certain category that just don't belong.
It's like the neon's that run with the imports, it's like the civics that try to drift.
VIP is VIP, and I know there are a few cars here that have pulled off the vip look without the platform, and I used to be a diehard 'vip platform or bust' guy, but now I just don't really care.
Let the kids who think they are VIP without the right stuff be VIP. When I get my rims on I for damn sure won't be VIP, because my car isn't lowered yet (again).
At least I started out with the right platform, TWICE.
When I first joined here, firelizard came in, and everybody was like WTF GTFO. That didn't happen. It's like the lil kid that wants to play baseball, yet cant keep his glove on because it's too big. He stepped up though, and will eventually (like a lot of us, eventually) make a respectable (in my eyes) k-car. I say k, because that's where I think his platform will fall into category wise. Those little cars, with wide wheels.
I have one of 2 cars that I completely wish I could emulate, and that's the GS. I bought it because I thought it was cool, but now, I see a lot of people with them, and with how cheap they are getting, it's only going to get worse. I knew I should have picked up an XJ. Heard some bad things about the motors, so didn't want to bother.
By emulating, I mean the Junction Produce cars. Those, to me, are THE vip cars. It's what got a lot of people into vip, it's what everybody shoots for, but I know almost everybody won't go for it.
Those who say low and wide isn't the vip game, you haven't been here long enough to know that, because that's what VIP is. it's all about STANCE. How low you are, and how well your rims fit.
I don't remember if it's in an article by Taketomi or an article on here, but if I remember correctly it was said:
" VIP is all about stance, everything else (including body kits) are just accessories."
I took that to heart, and that's how we should ( and do ) judge cars.
Every time some one posts up their car, it's always judged on how well the wheels fit, and how low the car is.
Are they flush? have you acheived Tsuraichi? If not, then you aren't there yet.
If you don't know what those are, then you aren't VIP, no matter how much money you have into your cars.
Don't talk about vip, just be vip. Just build your car, for you, and that's it.
The vip code is more of a guideline so to speak. anybody can be it, anybody can do it, it just really helps if you have the right car to start with.
can we end these stupid 'about vip' threads now?

I really do not like it when people build there car around a style. AKA questions like:
"is this VIP?"
"What do I need to make my car VIP?"
People seriously just need to build their cars for themselves. My car is going to be nowhere near VIP when i'm done. Well it will be close, but it will be "Elliott Styled." I love the look of VIP and the style is integrated into my style. My two favorite cars are just stock bodied 2GS with SICK fitment and stance. When people say their cars are VIP when they're not i'll just laugh at their ignorance but I don't need to waste my breathe on someone who just builds car to be "in style."

lot of people confuse dub with vip...i think thats where the most confusion falls.
Then there are those that will call anything VIP: Civics,S13's,etc
just trying to keep this thead 'on topic' before peope start being mean. :)

Hey man I gotta give credit where credit's due. Some day you'll have your k-car, soon i'll have my rims, drop, and lip. will we be vip? some say yes, some say no. will we have cool cars like john? probably not, that's way more money spent than i can spend in a long while.
Just let the noobs fight out these debates while all the OG's sit back, relax, and have a good laugh while eating our popcorn.
