How do YOU finish your car?

I'm just wondering how some of the guys on this forum finish up there cars and not get swamped with other stuff.

I'm currently a full time student looking for a part time job and the system that i've come up with is to do one mod, whether it be DIY or not on each day of the weekend. For example, last weekend I did some custom painting to my grille that came out really well on Sunday and on Saturday I installed some HID's.

This weekend I made a mount thing for my Zune in the car, and today i'm still thinking on what I can do haha.

What system do you guys have?

This may sound really F*ed up to some but I place my car above everything except my family, matter fact, I treat it as it was apart of the family. With that being said, I make time for it. I dont fit the car into the plans, I plan around the car.

Anyway, swapping out parts usually doesnt take long once you know where all the bolts are.

That's the same with me. I love my car but wouldn't dare put it before God, my family, friends, or school. It's my most prized possession by far and I treat it like it's family though. Sometime I wish i were a car that was owned by someone like me haha.

Seriously, It's Time management.

I used to think i'd have all this extra time and money when I finished school.....then 'life' happened: Relationships,Rent, Mortgage, car payments, ins, medical bills with longer work hours to pay for all of it.

it really does come down to time and how you make/use it....make the best of it.

I wash and wax my car every sunny day after a rainy day here in seattle. So normaly thats about twice a week, haha.

Mods, every other week, aka pay day. Then put the rest of the money away in the bank for bigger mods and just work on the little things and tune ups first.

I have a hard time getting my ass out the door and into the garage after work... but I try to put in a little bit at least everyday. I don't have many tools, and I have very very little space, plus now it's getting dark really early, and cold too. So, I guess, for me, the most important thing to me is perseverance, and to just keep working on it.

i just drive a crappy car, that way I don't have to worry about finding time to work on it:sad:
Note: this is because I am in school full time and don't have a job during the school year. I also don't use finacial aid because i am getting out debt free. But, when i used to have a nice car I would just find the time. I would hang out with people who also liked working on cars so that we could give each other a hand on projects. Then it was more fun.

Hah. When other 19 year old guys are going to the club grinding on hot girls and doing shots at the bar, I'm covered in leaves and gravel, freezing my greasy knuckles, working on the car.... or at the computer finding things to buy, and looking at FSMs haha
