Just some thoughts on wheel fitments...
I've read so many threads lately regarding the perfect fitting wheels, the most aggressive offset, the biggest lip possible, etc. It's come to me that most people do not understand the difference's between manufacturer factory wheel well limitations.
Here's what i've seen either from actual fittings or via vip mags (is that a credible source?).
1. Lexus chassis' can only accept a lower offset up front. When it comes to the rear, you have to really be careful with the offsets you choose. A 10" (rear) will probably fit very nice, using a +25 to +32 or so offset. This will require minimal camber and most likely only a fender roll (no pull). Up front, I'd say you can go +10 to +15 on a 9".
When I see low offsets on UCF's, I tend to notice that the rear sticks out more significantly then the front. I know a lot of guys on this board like the low offset look, but for balance, I think we need to keep in mind the "higher offset rear vs front" idea.
2. For Infiniti's or nissan's (RWD) they can accept all low offsets and be fine. Ive seen Q's taking very low offsets, and they look awesome. On a 10" (rear) you can play with negative offset, but keep in mind the amount of camber you will need the lower you go. For the front, on a 9" you can dip down to about -5 offset and be good.
These are just my observations. Comments are welcome.

This is just your opinion..which is okay to have, but most people won't agree with what you like...and that's okay too. I prefer a more aggressive offset front and rear..as I too prefer a balance. I like the fenders worked and to be flush at ride height...to me it's okay to be sunken in when totally dumped if you have airsus. But to me what matters most is the proper fitment at ride height..that's why you'll see me ask for ride height pics from time to time.

i understand what you are saying and i play by what fits the car too, but a lot of people like to push the boundaries. really thats a huge part of what vip is about. the nicest vip cars are going to have nasty offests/widths, rolled fenders, pulled/flared fenders, and/or radiused fenders to make those wheels fit. nothing wrong with playing conservative, but thats never gonna the vip norm.

if im not running two digit negatives, its not low enough IMO.

I like a mild functional stretch....one that allows a wider wheel by utilizing a narrower tire in order to not rub. I think some take the stetch too far where it almost looks like a cartoon. I guess you could call it a "functional stretch".

lol. thats gangsta. that was to yakotas13
i think that if its your car you should do whatever you want to/ limited to. for me, i like camber, stretch tire, and large lips. even though some dont, to me as long as it is well executed, it gets credibility.

Limitations? There are not limitations when modding a car. Anything and everything can be done, it just takes money.

whatever you want or are limited to. i guess that means skill level. for automobiles there is no limitation.

i dont really agree on -ve offset on the infiniti
at least not on the y34
+20 with a 8.5 is a flush flush already
the wheel stuck all the way out just aint my shit

I just bought some wheels with the intentions of buying new outter barrels and making them hellah wider and with some super lips. hopefully it will happen.
Sunken look is not cool. It has to be within 25mm of the fenders...even then, it's gotta be super low to be able to accept the reasoning for such a 'high' offset wheel from the fender. My goal is to drop the car as low as possible, then push the wheels as wide as possible. For me, first it will be spacers to get the wheel where I want it.

hmmm for my ucf20, i need a 15mm spacer to clear my brakes on a 19x9 +12

+5 Noone is too tell anyone ... Plus that is bad advice for anyone to know maybe when learning but is still bad advice ..
Just IMO ... if we have these out there then no one would push limits .. and it would be boring

there are no limitations but they're aren't any rules either.
you don't have to be limited by factory wheel wells/fenders
you don't have to run big lips (or lips at all)
you don't have to be flush
you don't have to tuck
now on my personal project (one of the most limited cars on the planet, fwd solid rear beam) i wanted to have a low ride height and be flush at all times which sounded impossible without camber. what i ended up with was ~2" ground clearance at ride hieght, hella flush 19s with a 3" lip, >1" wheel gap (exact number tbd), and a suspension that is basicaly a solid piece at ride hieght (ie no compression).
you can make anything happen.

Yea, this is somewhat repetitive now, but what you want to happen won't really happen.
People will continue to push the envelop when it comes to offset and widths. That's what the VIP thing is all about. If you see more poke on the rear than the front, then someone just didn't do their math right. but then again, that person might have wanted it to poke more in the rear so they can have a mean camber adjustment.
With the poke comes agressive camber and more impressive wheel/fender interaction like this:

Just love the way it barely misses the fender at the last moment Is that someone's car here?

I think that the original poster is pointing out that some manufacturers and chassis will allow different widths/offsets on a factory fender.
Ex Y33 can fit really wide/low offset compared to LS430 if both fenders are just rolled.
Once you start pulling/flaring all bets are off and you can fit whatever you want. Either way I think the fitment and stance should be balanced.

It used to be a members car here. IIRC he was the one who wrecked on a sport bike, and put the car up for sale due to medical bills...

after rereading the op i believe you are right. my question is: whats there to discuss?
nobody ever said there was a one size fits all wheel, if so everybody would be rolling 19x13 -25. of course all cars have different sized wheel wells, who said anything different? its all about getting the best fitting wheel for your car/style.

Thanks for the additional input. I'm simply trying to clarify what many may be concerned with. There are people that come from different "car make" groups and often times they carry the misconception with them that what they did on the last car, will work fine on the new car.
This is why I point out the fact that, say an infiniti (nissan) RWD platform will readily accept a low offset wheel...easily. However, the same cannot be said with the toyota RWD platforms. They will accept lower offsets, but within reason. Unless you want to go and modify fenders, it generally is not a bolt on affair.
Many enthusiasts are "bolt-on" type guys. Not all of us (me not included) are willing to pull, roll, flare or cut their "babies". Many newb's that come here to get advice are bombarded with the low wide comments all day long. Many newb's just want fat lips and they'll go low offset, what happens when they bolt this on to an LS? Sometimes it ends up "poke"-ing out. They are not satisfied and they have to do it all over again.
"Measure twice, cut once" mentality should be heeded. My advice would be to do research...obviously. Know the limits of their own cars and know the limits of what they are willing to do to make things work.
Just trying to give newb's some direction and too help them not make the mistakes many of us have.
Thank you.

I agree. For example, the 2nd gen GS can take around a +10 offset before having to do some major pulling and flaring. The Y33 can take much lower negative offsets. I think the thread starter is trying to say that Lexuses and Infinitis have different "thresholds" before major fender mods (custom flares, mega camber). It gives people a good idea what fits well without too much custom work. But it shouldn't stop anyone from trying to fit anything.

It all depends. While the Y33 and G50 can take low offsets easily, the Y34 and F50 can barely handle Lexus 2nd gen GS offsets

Wow I had no idea that this was the case on the 34 and 50 chassis.

ok, i see what you're trying to do now.
i think the more informative way would be to comppile a list of flush offests for various chassis, but then you're open to various intepretations of what flush is. so maybe a how-to post on measuring for offset would be better. i started working on one for a different forum a while, with the intention of going in depth, but i got bored and forgot about it.
