Going to get new wheels. Comments?

Hey everyone,

I've got an I30 (A32 Cefiro body) that I am going to try make VIP inspired.

This car:

I'll be getting them in 19x8 diamater with +30 and +40 offsets.  I know it's not the most aggressive offsets, but they should be relativley flush.

I'm already lowered.  I'll keep you all updated on the progress!

that will not be flush. on an 8 run a 30mm front. in the back my math is showing a 15MM OFFSET! i based my calculations on a 8.5/9.5 +35mm being flush, which they are.

and you really don't want privat wheels. save up and find something better/used.

Yup... Won't be flush at all! Get a 9J with 30 ish offsets, then we're talking.

get MRR's off ebay, they're cheap.

I thought Privat wheels were decent?  They aren't ADR's and I thought Konigs were decent wheels?

I'm committed to these wheels.  I'll see how they look when I get them, and if I need to space them out a little, so be it.

Yeah, I've committed to buying them from a friend (Deposit paid) who has a wholesale account with a distributor.  I can get those wheels with Yokohoma Prada's for under $1400 including tax, shipping, brokerage, balancing/mounting in 19" rims thanks to the value of the USD.

Considering my current wheels are just track rims, and don't have any flash, I think that these rims are a nice upgrade.  Maybe it won't be VIP standard, but I at least hope it will be clean.

You could of got some nice used wheels on this site for that price and with a few hundred more, maybe even with tires already mounted.  Its your car, hope your happy with the final outcome

its a good style for our cars. you also need to be aware that th lip on a 30/40 8" will be nothing like the one in the pic. i'm sure that your friend would let you change your mind as long as you spent your money with him. but hey, if your happy with that wheel its all good.

Why are we being so nice to this guy who talks about 'track wheels' on his maxima? SERIOUSLY, pics of your car even near a track or shutup. You posted asking for comments and we gave you better suggestions. Those wheels will not be flush.

PS: 19" MRR's for under 1400 on ebay...

because being nice is the nice thing to do, plus i'm a fellow a32 owner. comments and suggestions are not the same thing. "those wheels suck" is a comment, "you should buy these wheels" is a suggestion. surprisingly there are some hardcore a32 auto crossers, although i doubt this is one of them. he was probably referring to the tuner style of them.
 
i didn't notice the convex face, but still 8" +40mm?

1400 for mediocre 19" wheels with tires in Canada is pretty good.

If your forced to buy them now sell on ebay and get some quality wheels.

My track times are on maxima.org.  Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of it on the actual track, but if you look close closely, you can see the marker on my window.  This was at a track in Ontario, Canada, called Cayuga.  I understand that I won't be close to VIP styling, but once again, I'll hope the look will be clean. I'm glad you're concerned about wheel fitment, because it certinally has a big visual impact.. but uhh maybe you are the one with your head up your ass... what do you expect, at least he's being honest with you.

nope. a32s have huge wheel wells. you can pretty much show full face on 20's but the car isn't big enough for them.

Yea thats what he meant, the car its self isnt big enough for 19's.  They will look like 22's on the car if he slams it

naw 19s are perfect. if you check out some of the show/vip styled a32s 19s are the size of choice.

It all depends on what style wheel is on the car. I've seen a few A32 Maximas that have 20s with a drop and thought they were 18s or 19s and have seen some that looked as if they were too big. For example here goes one that I think looks just right with his choice of 20s and a drop.....

Personally I like the car to sit lower but this aint too bad looking with 20s

With a full aero, 19s or 20s looks ok on the A32, IMHO.

And I'm a wheel snob... I would do lightweight forged one-piece
wheels for track or drag, probably 3x as much as $ as these wheels.

But that's me...

Also, the Maxima/Infiniti I30 of these years all need rear wheel spacers
to correct the offset issue. That was constructive!

I'm getting the Netz rims in +30 offsets.  The current rims on the car are lightweight forged 16" rims, 14lbs per rim. 

And gmckey, I never said I was not supercharged.  I hadn't mentioned anything about my setup, except for the track wheels.  I was just looking for comments on the visual aspect of my ride.

And jzz30tt, I wasn't pissed.  That image was supposed to imply that I was stupefied by the responses.  I expected friendly ribbing, banter, etc.  Not exactly what I found from some people.

And how is my car a rep of the Fast and Furious?  I don't have any gill vents :)

Anyways, I do appreciate the comments about the offset and fitment.  I'm trying to learn about VIP styling by browinsg this forum, and I've already come across a number of A32's that look great.

so you're grabbing the 8" +30mm? that should be perfect in the front, 15mm spacer is what you're gonna need in the rear.

If it's possible to order staggered offsets for the wheels, why not? Keep the same width, but different offsets. That's gonna be nice and without sacrificing the handling too much on a FF car.

renman, do what you want to do, take constructive advice from people who give it, and ignore all the stupid comments that all the die hard vip-ers make. it seems like they all want you to do what they want you to do, as opposed to them helping you to makre your own decisions:gtfou:

a lot of people consider staggering wheels on a fwd ricey over here. i do it anyway. by using the same size all around he will have the same lip size on all 4 wheels, plus he'll be able to rotate.

Might as well stagger unless you're tracking the car at all.
My incoming setup will be, honestly, terribly unbalanced, but it's okay, it's not about going fast.

8" +30 is pretty conservative though. Like, really conservative.

I'm not sure what comments your expecting if you were already set on those 19x8's. I'm sure you understand by now that most of the comments are suggesting to go another route. I recommend the same. I have a friend who has an A32 (Maxima body) on a staggered setup, 19x8.5/9.5, I think offsets are +35 all around. He's not claiming to be VIP anything, but its still a clean look for the A32. I would say 19's are a good size for the A32, not too big. I always thought about adding to my parent's A32 I30 because I've came across so many wheels I thought were conservative for my Y33, but would be perfect for their A32. I guess do what you like, but keep in mind, the next time you post a pic of your car here expecting feedback, don't expect any of the comments to be similar to something you would find on Maxima.org. I've owned a Vortech supercharged A32 years ago, and I understand a lot about the car, but I now know a lot more about wheel fitment and what you have in mind will have you falling short of being even VIP inspired. Good luck with the build, feel free to keep us posted.

Roger is actually running +44s on the rears and I think you are right about the fronts. He wants to step up to 10" in the back. Here is a better look from the rear of how the rear wheels fit.

I've test fitted 19x9 +38 and 19x10 +44 which most A32 owners would say is a bit agressive but to me was perfect in the front and the rear could come out another 5mm or so.

yeah i was gonna say those don't look like 35mm in the back.

I do like the clean look these rims will give me, especially after having the 16" rims on the car for so long.  I'm sure you're right, it won't be VIP inspired, but it will hopefully be clean.  I'll keep browsing on here and eventually may get VIP style rims.

I'll post some pics of the build eventually. The car is stored for the winter on stands and the current wheels are off and the suspension will be removed soon for coilovers.

All right, no more drama, just some real comments on your wheel choice, etc.

Your car is not VIP in any sense or even close to being what most would refer to as even slightly VIP styled. Why not take your very conservatively sized wheels and fitment to another more appropriate forum that caters to Maximas? Then maybe you wouldn't get crap from people on a specific forum when you ask for comments for your unassociated car modding.

As for comments, I don't think your wheels will look that great. I think they will look generic and too conservative. I personally would not have spent the money on cheap, generic wheels like those and your car will not stand out of the crowd at all. Better luck on your future mods, you could always try researching things a bit before dropping the cash next time.

While we may not agree on the rim choice and the what I'm doing, it is not nearly as antagonistic in tone.

The reason he's asking opinions here is because the style he going towards is closer than that of what the Maxima A32 community likes. Most guys there think that the A32 is some sort of super-car and if the wheels aren't lightweight and bigger than 18s its a sin. Also he did say he was going VIP [B]INSPIRED [/B]with the car not full out

just wanted to update this because i was actually really suprised how well it turned out.
 
if you guys want to flame somebody flame me since i didn't ask renman about posting the update over here(taken from maxima.org). i believe he went 8 +30 all around and threw on some coilovers.

Hey man, I don't mind you posting it here, that's cool.  The rims are 8.5 +30 all around on coils.   I don't mind the flames, I just pick out the constructive parts and take note.

The ride quality - lets just say I moved from driving the winter beater (pontiac sunfire) so it feels GREAT.
