is it getting old?

i was looking in my car the other night and sat in it for a while. i looked at all the junction produce stuff i had, JP bear, sunshade, leather pillows and satin cushions, knots, and even the dealer products book! then i said to myself, "Do i really want to build a JP car? will it score major points @ the shows? how much am i gonna have to spend to complete this JP project?" is the end result worth my time and effort?

there are cars on this site the crush the VIP barrier without JP products galore. remember Spanky's GS and Antbo's car, Pancakes' 33?  they rocked Final Konnexxion, Aimgain and Insurance on their rides. there are many other cars that achieve VIP status that dont use the "typical" mods to get there.  when you look in VIP CAR and VIP magazine, you see companies that you never heard of. they blend in all types of modifications to make us say "damn, i wish my car looked like that!" fact is, you can make your car stand out against anyone. i looked at the things i had that night and decided i would sell them because i want the car to be unique and not just another VIP styled GS. i think that if people go outside the box and incorporate new things to their  rides this trend will steadily grow. 

this is not a stab at how someone decides to mod their car, just something i was feeling at the time that i wanted to share.

I hear what your saying. I like the JP products, but I don't want my car to be a JP catalog Q45 car, though there's like only 1 or 2 driving a JP configured Y33 Q45 and they do look sweet. I think I've given up on car shows, I can live without needing some approval from a carshow judge, but everyone modifies for their own reason. I built my car with a mixture of companies, and I think the JP stuff is a little pricey, so the only JP stuff I have is really the rearview mirror accessories and a sunshade, which everytime I look at it, I think to myself as I bought some of the cheapest stuff they sell, haha, not very vip if you think of about it in a financial sort of way. Ask yourself in the end, how are you going to benefit from all of this with the way you choose to build your car?

i have the WALD Executive Line package. wheels, exhaust, badge, etc.
when i first started, i wanted to go with one company that has everthing. they even have supercharger, which most company wont venture in to.

ive had this kit for just a short time now, but im thinking of mixing different kit to give a slight different "look" to my LS430. i know that most peeps may disagree with using other than one kit, but if done right and with clean lines, its doable as long its not a mish match of 1000 different parts.

with all the vehicles that ive owned, modded and having my fair share of "carshows" in the past, i ended up changing the look of the ride very often. i get bored very easliy.

and yes this time around, it will be dropped . . . . . ;)

man the jp cars are dope, i think it can go either way. take that ls at the af meet, jp head to toe and looked SO good. but at the same time, jp is jp. there is no variation. so if building a jp car is holding you back from a style that you prefer then let it go.

i think that when you mix in different things that REALLY brings your car out. an truthfully, some car show judges are anal so i dont think ill build a show freak. i just want that hella smooth VIP machine that guides me to the red carpet @ the club!! lol

you guys really have some great ideas on your cars and i enjoy seeing them bought to life

see, this is where living in my area has it's advantages...to a point. Right now people in my area are just now starting to learn about what VIP is, let alone have any knowledge of JP as a company. 

But yea, I can see where mod-wise a person can get tired of certain mods pretty quickly. In the long run, originality and keeping a finger on the pulse of VIP is what will keep the style true to what it is and keep it growing.

Ya' know sounds like you just feel like going in a different direction, and that's what happens sometimes. Ppl build rides for different reasons and purposes. What is yours? Me, I love my ride! It's really sutble and I feel like my kit just slightly exaggerates the already exisiting lines of my GS. My planz are to go lower and keep it as clean as I can. JP stuff is nice and along w/ it comes a sense of eliteness (if there is a word) that VIP community recognizes. If you enjoy it, then rock it! I don't think myself to be car crazy, but for now I can def. say that it's my thing and the way it's setup appeals to me everytime I see it.....

that is true because they are recognized as one of the pioneers of VIP. i really like the direction you've went with your car Augg. Mine will still follow the VIP guidelines but just not the usual.

BTW the new VIPCAR (12) offers up alot of GS ideas!!!

I was a BIG fan of JP when I first started, but know it starting to be a little riduclous too me!
Kinda like chicks w/ desginer name purses aka (My Gurlfriend :pat:) Also as far as a JP GS there's just WAY too many and they all for the most part look the same! (IE- same wheels, same kit, same lights, etc..) But I do asmit I LOVE GARSON and all there products! I just wish they catered to the Nissian/Y33 more :sad: As far as shows, shows are coo for showing your car off to people that love cars and have never seen VIP but they get pretty boring and whack! I personally prefer meets and photoshoots! Those are what give me the most pride and satisfaction! To you vipsc3 I say build the car the way you want for you! Don't do it for trophies or anything like that cause if that was a case you could by your typical drift car/ JDM honda and go that route! SORRY FOR RAMBLING just want to drop some cents! :biggthumpup:

Pancakes, you speak the truth son!! i like the car shows to show enthusiast that there is a different form and function to these cars other that ripping mad drifts and 11 sec quarter miles. but i do have to agree with you that its the photoshoots and everyday jaw drops i love to see with these cars.

you guys do a excellent job with your cars and i hope you keep doing it the way you're going. all of your cars are sweet as hell. i promise to deliver a knock out ride to represent the VIP culture

The way i do it, is i can give a fuck if its made by JP or APC.

If it looks nice (not saying APC makes anything decent) im putting it on my car aslong as it flows well with everything.

Heck, i got a garson and jp interior.
Why?

If i went with garson, it will look too flashy cause garsons style is crystal ect.
If i went with JP alone, it will be plain but classy.

Mix both, you get a even mix of classyness and bling.

I just buy what I like and can justify in price...Like benji said all my stuff is the cheapest JP stuff they make..THier body kits are ok but extremely overpriced as most of thier products are...I have allways had a crazy thing about allways matching..what I where from head to toe...That has carried into some of my car modding decisions but now as I have aged  I have kinda let that go and not be so brand crazy on everything..if it looks good and I like it and can justify the price than hells yeah but I would not pay $500 for a JP leather pillow but would pay $35-$50 for a JP pillow..I would not spend $6000 on a JP aero kit but I would pay $1000-$2000 for a JP kit...My cars blue book is $6000-$8000 dollars and once your mods cost more than your car their is something seriously worng with the way that you mod.....I dont think you will be able to find an Insurance company willing to insure those parts period...Now you take a $70,000 new Lexus and then I can see paying more than $2000 for a kit or wheels but their has to be that balance for me to appreciate it..IF I was at a car show and saw a $500 Gremlin JP out with mods costing over $15000 I would say that was just plain stupid....get my point...thats just me though you guys with $6000 aero kits on your rides good for you and not haiting as I know that we all see things different..but I could use that $6000 towards something else that wont have to worry so much about and would last alot longer...
 
Not to be a dick but I think of mikeys black Mode Parfume Y33...he spent so much money and then sold it and I have heard that the new owner cracked the front bumper allready...why spend that much just to sell it?????? NO offense Mikey thats you and thats how you roll but my Q is going to be with me for a long long time..Once I got it to where I want it I will keep it as my Weekend Driver on a Sunday afternoon..I have never been into shows so I dont mod for shows....

Im proud of the car I built I guess im a Junction Fan! VipSc3 just build it the way you want. In your post you mentioned you cant justify spending thousands of dollars on a kit and were worried on what kit or company will win you shows. Why build your car to suit others? build it cauz you like it and not what is in style right now. You shoudnt knock Junction for being expensive, just dont buy it, why would you even start a thread about this. There are plenty of other kits for the 2nd Gen GS. You also said you wanted to be unique, and  sure you see alot of Junction being sported on cars but how many fully  built Junction cars are there very few and to me that makes them unique in themselfs.  VIP aint cheap for any company you choose, why put inexpensive parts on your car because you have the money right now? Save a little bit more and get the stuff you really want.

Get what you really want.  If you cant justify the price, dont hate on someone else who is willing to spend on it, just do your own thing

I hope the judges at the US vip events can start appreciating mix-matched bodykits, because at least half the cars in the mags have custom kits from 2 or 3 different manufacturers.

IMO it takes more skill to take different kits and make them fit like its meant to be together. Rather than going the cookie-cutter approach...

blah, who cares what brand it is.  If you like it, thats all that it matters IMO.
