PXRLEX in the shop ! paint shop !
Well Here are some attached photos ....
UPDATED PHOTOS IN NEXT POST #14
(( anyone notice something missing ? ))
The car was Mostly clean prior But with BLACK you start to notice more and more each day ... always will have imperfections esp .if you don't restart
I will have 3 extra clear coats put on the car and wet sand of course
Time to have the car repainted black this time going (super black) Nissan KH3
, The Darkest black I have seen in person and purest black out there... IMO
Was considering going with gold pearl .. But with each gold I found at the shop ... It has some other colors mixed in so NAHH... Each almost fooled me like perfect then with a super bright flashlight ....I seen every color inside there.. No way for me
Here is a picture prior at the most recent show

and here are some of the pictures of it NOW
Considering having the wheels done too ... Nice black on black ... Until I get new wheels ...
Hope the photos work , I see them but My other host site is down ...
add me on www.myspace.com/koreantoki If you cant see

Good luck with that. I would leave the trunk clean. Althought its a 400, there are 430's out there. Just put a V8 badge on the fender if you feel the need.

dont put wax on your car...you risk having the clear die back and become cloudy...eventhough the clear feels dry and you can sand it, solvents are still escaping...i wouldn't wax it for at least a couple months...putting on diluted coats of polish/sealer is the best way to protect your paint...
i looked up kh3 and its not the purest black...it's actually high strength black with a little blue...bmw's 668 is more black than that...i would say kh3 is the 3rd purest black out there...the only thing more blacker than HS black is G99 which is dupont's ready to spray black...
what brand paint did they use?
here's some tips on checking to see if they did a good job...
check the wheels well lips to see if there's dry spray...check all the door jambs for lines or dry spray...check insinde the fenders for dry spray...feel all the windows for dry spray, and if there is, use steel wool....feel inside the front bumper, where the horizontal line is for dry spray...
it's nearly impossible to see how the car turned out by seeing pics from the internet...you gotta be able to touch and feel...
there's a lot that painters can get away with if the owner doesn't know any better...make sure you look at it real good after they cut and buff it...i've seen people pay 3-4k on a paint job with small runs under the bumper, dry spray all over the place, choke rubbish on the roof and lower portions of the door, etc.
anyways, hope this helps...

yea before using any wax i would wait for a couple months to let the paint fully cure. oh and make sure you tell them to get all the left over compound that's stuck in cracks and jams because they're a bitch to take out if they are untouched for a couple days.

word up on the compound...mcguire's is the worst...since they are a paint shop, they should know to run 3/4" tape around all the trim...definitely don't take your car back if there's compound in all the cracks...you'll spend a week trying to get it all off...and you probably won't get everything...
and quite honestly, if you spent $3k of more on your paint job, they shouldn't have put the car back together before they cut and buff it...it probably means they won't cut the car evenly and will stay away from the tops of the door and anywhere else there is trim molding, badges, etc...they definitely are not going to cut and buff your sideskirts unless they take them off again...i know i wouldn't...

i understand...it really depends on what the parts are...i prefer to buff parts on the car personally because its quick and easy...plus, you don't necessarily have to do a good job...just nib whatever you can see...when i get high end cars and custom jobs, i always buff parts off the car...this way you can cut everything even and not break your back by bending down...and the cleanup is easy...
mirrors can be buffed either in your hand with a 3" buffer or by using this...
http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=10440&itemType=PRODUCT
the parts stand is super easy...just use the bolts that the mirrors or spoiler or whatever come with and attach to the stand...you can also rotate it so when you spray, the mirrors lays horizontally just like it was still on the car...
with side skirts, i lay it on the middle of a parts stand, wrap one end with tape so it doesn't fly then when you're done with that side, wrap the other end with tape...
now tell me, do you think they are gonna buff those sideskirts if they don't take it off? i wouldn't...

I'm still a little freaked-out by how many parts were still on the
car when it was sprayed, but it looks like it came out okay.
My car was a shell by comparison!
It seems there is no keeping overspray 100% off of the wheels;
I would have put the stockers back on but they don't fit over the
Stoptech 355mm brakes...
BTW, all of my lower panels & bumpers were colorsanded & buffed
off of the car- challenging, but much less compound spray to deal with!

It was taken off the car ...panels and everything , and should be getting it back tomorrow ... new hood shocks and need to check wiring ... my compressors are Not coming on by my switch anymore need to check wiring (freaking shop) they say they didnt do anything with it but the battery needs to be charge before i get the car back .. also Fingers crossed and more photos to come guys
for the wheels .. . I had the kit painted prior to having the whole car repainted .... and they had over spray on the wheels so this time the wheels will be buffed or something from the shop to clean all those off
BTW I blew one tire on the stocks so need to replace that aswell

My car was a shell by comparison!
It seems there is no keeping overspray 100% off of the wheels;
I would have put the stockers back on but they don't fit over the
Stoptech 355mm brakes...
BTW, all of my lower panels & bumpers were colorsanded & buffed
off of the car- challenging, but much less compound spray to deal with![/quote]
James

Happened to me once. It appears they were playing with the switches with the car turned off. I just had to replace a fuse though. Just double check the fuse if you havn't

Checked all fuses today ... and probably comes down to one lose wires to a switch ... :pat: when they pulled the switch out ... :slap:
Having them take off the emblems they look terrible and re buff the top I wasn't pleased with the over all look of the car today and having some EXTRA work put into it , esp since I am labeled as an anal car owner ...
They told me I didnt get to chance to take a look at it when I came down ...
:bsflag:
I told them even If they have to repaint the trunk lid because they wanted to put the emblems back on the car, because the glue might mess up the paint ... I said good ... I told then that I seen so much wax build up from the inside of the lettering .. so maybe 1-2 more days ...
Pictures to follow .. in couple of days

its not glue, its double side tape...won't mess up the paint...just gotta buff those area real good if needed...one more tip, look at the car in artificial light...you can see everything...the brightness of the sun may hide some of the swirl marks and other imperfections...
can't wait to see the pics man...car is gonna look DOPE
