Where in socal? Have you considered powdercoating? Ive had both professionally painted wheels and powdercoated wheels and would take the latter anyday.

Yeah, unless you need to match a color exactly, powdercoating is the way to go. It'll last way longer and be more durable. From my experience most shops won't guarantee rim painting either because of how easily they chipp/scratch.

if you plan on changing the color of your rim ONE TIME ONLY, powdercoating is definitely the way to go...but if you want black, later you decide to go red...you will want to paint it...
