PINE LAWN- Telvin McKinney stopped into the Crown Food Mart after school Tuesday to buy some chips or cookies. The clerk noticed his plaid boxers peeking out of his low-riding pants, just as a police car was parking outside the store. "You better pull them pants up," she warned Telvin, 16.
Telvin quickly yanked up the waistband and tightened his belt. "Oh, I forgot where I was there for a second," he said.
Word was spreading quickly around town that the city's Board of Aldermen passed an ordinance Monday night outlawing what's popularly known as sagging. 
 
Now, anyone who wears pants below the waist that expose the skivvies or skin is subject to a $100 fine. [B]That includes[/B] [B]girls [/B]whose [B]low-rise jeans[/B] sit too low. Parents face up to a $500 fine or 90 days in jail if they knowingly allow their children to wear their pants in such a manner. 
Of course, this brings up an interesting question. What about plumbers?

they did this somewhere in texas too. good luck. this is gonna be one of those laws thats forgot about and they make a commercial out of in 50 years. i really can't believe this is happening. world-wide dress code? wtf? its an obvious attempt at legal harassment of lower class youths. i'm sure its a ticket offense, but of course "i gotta search you for your safety and mine". i wish a mother f**ker would tell me to pull my pants up. and then they're gonna strip search you in the middle of the d**n street! i wanna see the ratio of low-income black males 15-25 yrs old to upper-middle white females on this one. wrong on so many levels.

That's retarded. I mean, we had that rule in middle school, but that was about it. Um, isn't this breaking the freedom of expression amendment? it's not like you are exposing yourself publicly.

I guess that's what happens when ppl get some authority. I don't agree w/ it because it seems like a wasted issue, but @ the same time all kinds of laws are broken everyday. Especially the ones that do make sense. Ppl know the laws and just don't abide by them because of their beliefs or because they feel the need to promote the concept of freedom. We need to feel like we have control of our expressions and/opinions to support individuality and/or independence, but actually we come off as being selfish or my favorite insabordinate. What do we do or why do we care? We don't keep up with city meetings or promote change on a positive level. Just complain about how " I was kickin it wit my boys and a cop gave me a ticket fo my saggy duds!" Yos, I don't care what ppl choose to do as long as they do SOMETHING. I have heard that too. I also heard when I was a kid, that baggy pants started so gangsters could hide guns in their pants.  IDK. People tell you things to get you to not do things, so who knows if they were just rumors or not.

...or that it originated from inmates who are on the row and not allowed to have belts.

A lot of forums have posting similar threads with supporters of the ban. they feel to realize that it isnt all about [I]saggin pants[/I].  
 
Kinda like when that senator rear ended a car and claimed he thought traffic was still moving because the car on the side of him had 'spinners'. Hella people in our tuner  scene were like, yeah ban them....I hate spinners anyway.  If his law had pasted it wouldve opened up the flood gates on the aftermarket world. A lot of people get caught up in their own world and fail to see the 'bigger picture'.

I see what you mean. Why aren't people motioning for this law to be revoked then? I assume, like what was said above, is that it's a law people will feel that it's just going to get lost and forgotten, due to the ridiculousness of it.

Its scarrrrry because its targeted towards people who are generally from poor hoods that cant afford to challenge it in court.  it will spread thru the poor areas around the nation until its seen as 'the norm'. Then other cities/states will try their hand at adopting it.  
 
Middle and upper class wont see it as 'their' issue....until [I]lil suzy[/I] comes home with a phat ass ticket for wearin low rise jeans or sumthin'.

what happen to our rights? why cant people wear what they want. i remember i had some shorts when i was younger it looked like sagging because one pair was sewn about 3 inches past the first one.
