Air on threaded damper..
What kind of damper abuse would that cause?
I'm playing with the idea of an airbag wrapped around my dampers, like solo's IS300 has, because the only way I can go lower in the front is from the top...either strut tower modification, or a shorter spring.
Now, squeezing the spring with the perches is generally not recommended because it's hard on the damper...but wouldn't a short airbag do the same? I do plan to roll lower than I am now, not just drop it when I park, so I'd be losing some stroke, and rolling with above-normal pressure on the damper all the time right?

thas what i am doing (uas over jic). the reason you are not supposed to "sqeeze" the spring is because it preloads it. it will not have the same effect with an air bag. you will be riding with the strut under compression at all times which i'm sure will add wear (especially on k-sports which are known for blowing under any conditions).

That's what I'm worried about. I'm fairly certain that I would be tossing the warranty away if I put UAS on the damper too, and I can't afford to buy coilovers for this car a second time.

just put the springs back on when they blow. i hate to say it but i think you'll be warrantying them no matter what you do. might as well get low.

Good point. I'll have to make sure they blow within a year though haha
I dunno though, I'm still just playing with the idea. I want to concentrate on saving up, and the 240, I'm just about done with the Protege for now...only a few small things left.
It's just that it would be nice to have a more supple suspension because it's a daily driver.
We'll see, I guess.
In the meantime, I'm just going to find all the information I can
