D2 Coilovers
Have anyone know who made D2 coilovers? Are they good?
I was offered a brand new full spec coilovers (hi-lo, soft-hard & camber adjuster) with 30% cheaper price compared with Tein Basic Wagon.
Is it worth buying?

d2's are made by the same people as k sports, but with better materials from what i understand.

I thought K-Sports were pretty much just rebranded D2s...
Eitherway, they're not high end stuff. Lesser than Tein I'd venture to say.

I don't think to highly of tein basics though either. for the price, the D2's are good. But if you really want a quality product you'll have to pay.
My buddy had D2's on his s14 and he loved them other than they were a little stiff for his liking.

with the tein basics you seem to just be paying for the name/quality. they are very lacking in features.but some times when you're on a tight budget simplicity is good.

Oh, yeah, didn't notice that you we were comparing to Tein Basics.
I'd go with D2 over that too, just to get the full threaded body if anything.

Thank you all for the opinion. I also thought better to get D2.
Question now, is there any different between coilovers that made specially for wagon to coilovers made for sedan? The car is Honda Stream, a civic based wagon. Tein have wagon damper that is made for Stream, while the D2 coilovers is for Civic but it's bolt on installation. Any advice?

I've riden in a few cars that have Tein Basic and them seem to be a bit bouncy IMO. D2s/Ksports seem to be ok for the money even though I've heard many complaints about them but thats when comparing them to setups that cost twice as much.
I'm not familiar with the vehicle in question so I really can say you can or can't do that. I do know that when it comes to the older civic sedan/coupe/del-sol most springs/strut combos are the same partnumbers. It also depends on how much work you are willing do to get it to work if it happens to not be a bolt-on affair. If it was me I'd just go with what you know is going to work.

K-Sport = bouncy like trampoline, shock dyno shows that they're pretty random too.
If D2 is made by the same manufacturer, I wouldn't expect good ride quality.

I'd stay away from these cheap quality coilovers. A friend just bought a set for his accord and it's horrible.
stick to genuine JDM quality.

i have the ksports and i like them personally. extremely bouncy. especially since i believe they changed their shock design. and theyre headquarters are located in town, so i can have them rebuilt and back on by the next day. and i heard that D2 is the same. i dont know.

So, can I conclude that coilovers for sports compact/sedan is not suitable for wagon?
I'd like to have some input from members driving bb. Please help.

While we are talking about budget coilovers, anyone here have experience with Megan racing on a large sedan?
They offer 12/8 spring rates which is the same rate that Insurance coilovers are for the RL. They allow you to adjust the height by shortening the assembly like the Ksports/D2.

The reason I say stick to known coilovers, is because of quality control...I've ridden in cars with d2, i've experienced k-sports, and i've rocked Tein FLEX. FLEX was FAR better in terms of ride height, damping adjustment, and just over all a better coilover...for around 400 more ( I got it on a group by at 1300) it was the best I hever had. To get it to ride perfect, all I had to do was adjust the damping down a bit, as the factory sets it at full stiff. I wouldn't go with a branded 'ebay' coilover, just because that's what it is. An Ebay coilover. Go with what you will though.

Caoboy, seriously. Your sounding like completely unknowing. The method within the shock for adjusting damping is the exact same in all the coilovers you listed. But due to each shock havign a different internal pressure, and valving, they feel different. So you saying the Dampning adjustment withing the Flex (which are a shitty coilover IMO, too soft) is better, is an incorrect statement, since they are all adjusted with teh exact same method.
On another note, how can ride height adjustment be the same...when they are all the exact same design? THread the shock body into the lower mount to lower. Again, all the same as the rest.
D2 is not an ebay coilover, megan racing is almost there, K sport is like a flea market coilover you can get htem so cheap (i got mine new for 500 bucks so i dont really care they suck).
If your looking at honda applications, See if Omni Power makes an application for what your wanting to take it off of. They are WELL known in the honda world, and ive owned them as well. Great product.
So moral of the story.
Dont talk about something you dont know.

Hahaha. Noticed that you hate Tein so much...
Understand from your explanation that all coilovers have similar mechanism & adjustment method. Thanks.
Yes I can use Civic coilovers in my car, bolt on. Anyhow, this thing keep me wonder, why are most Japanese big name such as Cusco, Tein, etc. have special series for wagon? Are they really different or just marketing craps?

I don't know about the whole wagon/coupe and sedan debate, but Tein Flex should not be something used as a "bar" of standard to compare coilovers with.
That's like using old Navy $8 t shirts to compare everything else with. Anything can look good when next to a shirt that will fall apart in the washing machine after 5 cycles.
I've driven on over 15 different brands of coilovers, and I will have to say for ride quality, Zeals are your best bet. I had 16K 14K in my Civic, and they rode better than anything I had ever driven before.
I also had Tein RA coilovers, which are not AS aggressive, (something like 14K 12K) but the ride was so shitty, I felt like they were not worth half of what I paid (I only paid $800 and I still felt ripped off).
I have a set of Mugen N1 and J's Racing N1 coilovers both sitting my garage right now. Spring rates are probably too stiff for any one of you to try, but they are amazing coilovers. The "bounce" is half as annoying as the Tein Flex, yet the car handles as if it were literally on rails.
Just saying, a popular coilover isn't necessarily the best one. It just means there are more mislead people than the knowledged. :)

i had the d2 on my previous ride and theyre okay for being taiwan made.
heck, 36 adjustability with camber plates for 600 isnt shabby either. i didnt care too much for the purple thou. btw, i had my settings to "mans coilovers" lol.

Funny, Grant, you say I don't know what I am talking about, yet I gave reasons of why I wouldn't go with them.
Aside from that, I will agree with you on the ohlins and zeal setups...those are the best money can buy.
