COILOVERS VS AIR ? on gs400

Hello all I am pretty new on here I have really 2 basic questions (hope they are basic)  First off I have been reading about air suspension still over all semi confused on how it all works controlling the height digitally or with switches and bags vs I dunno whatever else... anyways seemed to like these [URL]https://www.universalairsuspension.com/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=93&osCsid=6bd5fca692bf2d47380c58387d646632[/URL] just curious if this is something where I can program the ride height by a push of a button and from what this seems like this is everythign I would need but I actually just need like shocks is this right? I can use coilover or just stock shock? 
 
 
 And last question I have a 240 with coilvoers already pretty harsh ride for that car  12 kg up front 10 kg in rear I didnt want that for the gs no dash rattling I am looking into some stance coilovers I believe 14/10 Just wondering anyone else who may have coilovers on this car how "rough" is it compared to other cars with coilovers is it pretty moosh ?

Idunko, but im a big fan of stance. They can be set to stiff, but at the same time, ride pretty smooth on small everyday road bumps, and handles pretty damn well on sudden sharp tuns.

I plan on getting a set for my y33 since they were the best coils ive ridden in. How ever, i realy want to test out the Powerd By MAXs. Heard alot of good things about them.

Yes, STANCE makes coilovers for the GS. They ride pretty decent from what reviews I have seen. I used to have Tein FLEX, and for the money, those rode VERY well. I was very satisfied. I think they are the best bang for your buck suspension  out there, the only thing that could maybe beat it would be the STANCE, and that's only because they are a bit cheaper. 

As far as air ride, UAS is a good setup. Yes, you would need to either use your stock shocks, or buy new ones. They can set you up with new ones as well, in one whole complete package. 

You can use a coilover instead of a stock shock, but you will need to contact them for which applications can be used.

do u see those extreme hotrod cars with "coilovers" ? hell no. It's AIR.

VIPcars also share the same purpose (but definitely different style) as all of it is for show.

I'm just excited because I'm getting air.

What? Do your research. Most hotrods run custom spring/coilover setups. Some run air.

Low Riders use hydraulics pal, not air ride. 

The hardcore vip guys in japan still rock coilovers. Please research before you shout out incorrect information.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Caoboy.

well air sus owners will say one thing, and coilover owners will say another.

it makes no difference. The reason I'm going with air sus is because I can drive it how and when I like. 

If I feel like riding comfortable...it's done with a snap of a finger. 

If I feel like looking at my car slammed....done with a snap of a finger.

If I feel like cruising low....done with a snap of a finger.


but to argue about  "lowriders use hydrolics not air" is pretty lame. That's like saying those are pants not slacks.

Hey buddy, I like air because you can dump it for photos or ride lower when you want to. However, I have coilovers and they work great. C-overs will probably be more cost effective by comparison, unless you opt for all the additional suspension support goodies. Just choose the one you want and don't turn back, IMO either will do fine (providing you get good quaility set-ups).

Thanx for all the input mainly probably gonna go with coils being much cheaper just didnt want this thing to feel like the 240 it deserves better ya know? But either way the thing is gonna be low But thanx for all the help

Only horrible coilovers, or a race setup will give you a shitty ride. You can rock stiff coilovers, yet still have it be comfortable. Like I said, I feel that Tein FLEX will give you the best bang for your buck. Stance has had great reviews, and are a bit cheaper than the FLEX, I haven't tried them, but I might. 
 
As for hydraulics=air? Um, hydraulics use hydro power, or fluid. Air ride is just that. AIR. Two completely different things...
 
Either way all will get you down low, and we have users using all three different types of setups on here.

I went with Tein CS at first on my GS but I plan on going with UAS in the future. Daily driving low on coilovers is irritating, especially with people in the car.

Tein coilovers in my experience have been pretty garbage.. I would not use them as a "benchmark" to compare other coilovers to..

Which would give you the most comfortable ride?  I'm looking into getting a Y33 in the future, and I'm just trying to figure out if I would actually want to ride in the car after I got it looking like I want.  I don't need it to handle (better than stock).  I'd just like it to ride nearly as good as stock (or better).  I already have my fun driving car (S13).  I just want something that rides and looks nice, for going out, etc.

Sorry if this is considered a thread jack.  It just seems as though the thread turned more into a coilover vs. air debate rather than what is best for the GS400...
