What's the cost for a '94 LS400 timing belt replacement?

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying a '94 LS400 that has about 57,XXX miles on it. My friend who's a mechanic told me that I would need to do a timing belt replacement for the car at around 60,000 miles... So I was just wondering... How much would it cost to buy the parts necessary to do a timing belt replacement myself? In contrast to doing a timing belt replacement with a Lexus dealership... Any help on the subject would be great. Thanks.

more like around 90,000 miles from what ive read up on... to have it done by servco would be i say around $2000-$3000, ball park. parts alone is around $300-$400, timing belt, tensioneres, water pump, guides, etc... forgot all the rest of the parts. if your on oahu, theres a shop on ilaniwai street off ward that specializes on toyota/lexus, cheaper than dealer, and just as good. he works on them all day so he could have it back to you in the same day...

I've always heard that they are replaced around 90,000 miles too.  I might be looking at some used LS400s and I was always told if they had over 90,000 miles to check to see if it has had its timing belt replaced along with the water pump.

WOW thats expensive for a timing belt job, I do alot of side work and have done a timing belt replacement on an LS parts+labor 400.00 and a 4 hour turn around.

nah.. if u have no ideal of how to change one, i wouldnt recommend doing it urself... i've done plentys of timing belts including all kinds of makes and the LS isnt one of those easy ones..

as far as 90,000 for a timing belt, thats the right miles, but as far as being a 94 with only 54,000, i would do the belt and waterpump at around 60,000... because that car is over 13 years old and the rubbers(timing belt, o-ring in water pump, cam, crank oil seals, etc.)  goes bad also due to age and not just milelage.. 
for example, u ever see a 10 year old car that barely has any miles put on it that has the original tires on it? the rubbers always crack.. 

as far as price, Lexus waterpump are one of the most expensive water pumps in the market... approx $250 just for the water pump... i say parts alone would be approx $450-500... thats  everything including, timing belt, drive belts(outside belts) two cam seals, one crank seal, tensioners and waterpump.. 

if i remember correctly, book time is like 7-8 hrs to do all the things i listed... most shop charge like 100 an hr... so your lookin at around 700-800 for labaor..
