Tire Size and stretching thread ..FYI 10.5" wheel on a 245/35/19's 451 & G-force PIC

I thought I would share this with you folks..I have been looking for tires for me rear 10.5 and could not make up my mind on what brand and what size..I first wanted 235/35/19 for the rear because my Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 245/35/19 seem to be a little big...well I got some info for you guys most of you might allready know but here is my info incase some of you had wheel and tire ??????'s
Ok so I came across some used 19" tires..$70 for both installed and they had about 60% tread left on them...either way alls I need is the edge of the tires anyways.. :D so I picked them up to help the decision process.
So the first tires I will discuss are the Falken 451 in a 245/35/19..It seems like these tires run a lot smaller than the Dunlops in the exact same size...Boy I love the strech and they will give me the clearance I need to drop the car lower....here are some pics....

Now the second tire I will discuss are the BFG G-Force...in a 245/35/19...these tires seem to run bigger wider than the 451 by far and perhaps the same as the Dunlops if not a tad bit bigger..Tread pattern is cool but I also think that I would rather have a directional tread design than these..Just doesnt flow well with the style of car for some reason maybe its just me. I only have two pics because you can deff tell the difference and these wont be on my list..but I thought I would share the info anyway as these are sopposed to be really good wearing tires..but once again I only need the corners do to -camber..here is a pic..perhaps a 235/35/19 would do the trick....for size comparrison.

I was going to by these brand new but I have a thing about mix matching tires but I can live with it for $70 for the pair installed. depending how long these rears last hopefully by the time my fronts wear out the rears will be ready as well...I have a feeling though that the rears will wear faster than the fronts anyways cuase of the - camber the fronts still look new.. Anyways once my fronts wear out as well I will be replacing all four tires with the Falkens 451's ..I really like the strech and I will be able to use my 20mm spacers up front with maxed out camber go lower front and back and should have no problems...I will be running either a 215/35/19 or a 225/35/19 up front and the rears well we all ready know a 245/35/19...hope this info is usefull to some of you..I know that people are allways wanting and wonder what tires to run how they look stretched and so on...
Comments are welcom as allways...
Do any other brands that you folks know about run the same size as the falkens 451's ? I was going to try the khumos, generals, federals and Nittos but thats a lot of $$ to find out what they look like and most places around here you have to order them and pay a restocking fee if you dont like them...so any info would be appreaciated...

AH yeah, KDW's....I SO want these tires. They look like pure sex. At like 200 a pop though, it's more than enough to keep me wanting.

FK451 and ST115 run about the same size (small) and are both discontinued.

Thanks for sharing your specs and details zion!

i like the falkens, but they are a bit wider than the federal SS595s at the same size it appears?

I have teh same strech (maybe a MM or two more not sure) on a 10J, and you have a 10.5.

anyways, i say go falken.

THe fk451 and st115 are dicontinued kinda of they are hard to find but I have been able to find some websites that still carry them...

No problem with the info..I know losts of folks are allways wondering about certain tires and stretches..the only problem is every brand tire stretches different..THe falkens stretched/mounted so so easy it was not even funny..the g-force it took them almost an hour just to mount it and the funny thing they are wider you would have thought it would have been easier but NOT..

I can't seem to locate the 451 in a 225/35/19 so I may try the federals,nankang or the st115...
I want my fronts to stretch like the rears and they are 9" width so the 451's smallest size I have been able to locate are 235/35/19 and I know it wont look the same. I want to be able to add my 25mm spacer to the fronts and camber them all the way in without rubbing the fenders. right now with the dunlops sportmax I have in a 225/35/19 with max camber and 25mm spacer I am rubbing the fenders..I know with a nice strech that will solve that and I can drop the car another .5"-1",.,....that will look like pure sex..Got lots of plans for the car this next year..paint,rear fender work, refinish the wheels , new uphlostry and hopefully a body kit...

Yep you can still find old stock.

Oh I agree with you about the BFG gforce tread pattern. Kind of strange on a VIPcar. The Dunlop FM901 is the same way.

but havn't you noticed the nankang ns2 and the fk451 are almost identical in size and tread pattern? almost like they are the same. does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
thanks for this thread by the way:biggthumpup:

Naw not really. Complete opposite actually. 595s run a lot wider then 451s and st115 and 512s. 595s in every experience ive had always run wider then most and the old style falkens run narrower. Discounttire direct still has some st115s but very little fk451s.

Youre running 235/35s on 19x10s? I have 595 235/35s on 10s and they dont stretch as much as his 451s, theyre closer to his BFGs. I had 225/35 595s on 9j and my nankang ns2 stretch more in the same size and have similar characteristics as old falkens(stretch wise). Last I checked the narrowest for 35 series 19s was 215 for 595s.

i test fitted the 225/35 on the 10j, and it was perfect, the 235, is almost the exact same stretch zion has.

I have run a FK452 225/35 on a 8.5
and a SS595 225/35 on the same wheel and the federal had less stretch than the falken.
I don't know about the tire design for the 451's though.

Which brand?

I'm in the market for some tires to go on a 19x9.5 / 19x10.5 setup on a 1st gen GS lowered on Tein coilovers. Tirerack has awesome pricing on the General Exclaim UHP (380 AAA tread, ZR rating). I was wondering how this manufacturer's (supposedly Continental) design handle tire stretching if I was to go with a 235/35 and 245/35 tire setup? I'm just concerned with sidewall strength since the car will be daily driven here in NorCal (roads are ok). Thanks in advance.
