Restoring Work/JDM Wheel outer lips to factory??
So come on, does anyone actually know what the coating on the outer lips is on all the Work and other JDM wheels.
I know the wheel is mirror polished and then treated with 5 microns of coating, but what that coating is I haven't got a clue.
Has anyone successfully refurbed their wheels to factory standard?
Any help much appreciated.

i don't know what coating they use either...gotta be some chemical that permanately bonds to the wheel...its not clear coated because i've polished my old work wheels and there was not feathering or peeling...
unless it's a true 2 or 3 piece...not a 2 piece wheel welded together, i think there really is no way to repolish the lips to a brand new finish...if its a 2 piece rim welded together, the best you can do is polish them as close the the face as possible but you'll always see a burn line...if you can remove the face of the rim, then you can polish the barrell all the way...either way, you're gonna use that protective coating...
