what platform for $12-14K

I have about 12-14K to spend on a car, I want to go vip, and start with the right platform, what should I choose. BTW that doesn't include the mods, I will be modding it with the income.  a friend has gs300, so i cannot go gs/aristo.

Yeah, There are a few GS's and Q's up here in Seattle. Is his VIP styled? 
 
 
How bout a Lexus [B]LS[/B]?

you can get a LS400 like a 98 for that price

a really nice 98 w/ levinson sounds and factory navi

You can get a Y33 Q45 and have some money left over.  I think I talk to your boy on aim.  He has a black GS with some JDM rims on it?

no, his GS is stock on the outside, but we worked on his stereo, so all he has is dampening, avic d2, dvd changer, focal speakers, zapco amps and iidmax. he is planning to get some wheels in near future though. 
 
I am leaning towards 2000-2001 Y33 Q45t or aniversary edition. how's gas mileage on those(after the wheels and drop, i heard it reduces it)

y33 q45 is the way to go

what about a y34? they are right near the top of your price range.

Look at it form this stand point.
Do you just want to run out and buy the car or buy it and still have money left for a few mods to tie you over until you start modding with your income.
Also atleast have an idea of what you want instead of just letting other people choose for you. Maybe some background on why you want to go VIP could help make a better decision.

I.E. I like a classy vehicle blah blah
I want something nice but sprty blah blah.

Don't just throw around "i got mad loot son, gimmie some ideas." What about your own Ideas?

No questions.....You can pick up a very clean Y33 with low mileage for that price, and still have some loot left to start your mods.  Unfortunately the y33 has not held on to resale value, bad for sellers great for buyers.  Just remember you may have to get rid of it at some point so understand what you're getting yourself into. Bottom line is you should have no problem finding a nice y33 for about 9k to 10k that should leave some nice money for wheels or suspension or both.

choice is made, as soon as I sell my IS300,  I am getting a Q45T. Don't care about resale value,

With gas prices creeping up the $4 per gallon for the premium, this is not going to be cheap.
 
But you should really think on what you want.

you can actually pick up a 02-04 q45 or 03-04 m45 for that price

ive seen 2 m's go for 14k and quite a couple q's

but if thats your budget, you gonna need some more just for the gas alone...4 thousand pound, vq45 engines =/

where the hell can you get an 02+ Q45 or 03-04 M45 for that price?!

There is one black 03 M45 for 28k here in nice condition, and a beat up 02 Q45 for 22k, one hit and lots of scratches and spider webbed paint.

Coming from a UCF10 owner, I'd get a Q45. I love Lexus' and all, but those freakin Q45's can fit some insanely low offsets without tinkering around with them as much as with a Lexus.

I bought my 02 Q45 for 19K a year ago with 65K miles..sport edition.   I feel like I could have gotten it for alittle more cheaper but then again I bought it from the Acura dealer in their used car lot.

There are 02 Q's on ebay that have buy it nows in the 14 range???  That is a sick platform to start with.  They are average looking in stock form but are badass when modded.

well, maybe within your group of friends it is fine, in my group, we tend to have different cars, sometimes compatible, but rarely or almost never same
