cutting to raise the fender line (help!). pics.

i know i started a thread about radiusing fenders, but now i am seriously considering doing it... well at least cutting the fenders to raise the fender line.
the real reason why i am considering doing this is that my wheels/tires hit the fender about 1/2-3/4 of the way down in the front (rear i have no problem). and if i ever have a leak, my front fenders would dent because they're thin.

what i didnt mention in the other thread is that i have fender flares and what i basically want to do is make my wheels/tires go up into the flares.. here is how she currently sits: (dont mind the crappy pics)

it seems to be the front would be easy being that its only a single layer of sheet metal and there are no obstructions in the way (ie. door, sidemarkers, etc) the rear on the other hand there are some obstructions--the door. now i am only going to raise it about 2-2.5" probably less in the back.

so the questions is this:

is a die grinder sufficient for cutting the fenders? if not, what is?
also, what else would i need to complete the job?

if anyone could answer these questions it would be much appreciated.

Dont forget to spray the bare metal edges with some anti-rust agent spray when ur done. Other then that, just messure everything a few times and cut carefully. I dont see why you cant cut it with the grinder, just be careful.

Die grinder works, that's what I used (partly) to cut metal off a car's quarter.
