Too paint or not to paint, that is the question.

Not looking to be flamed here, just looking for a sincere opinion.
 
 
So, I have an 04 M45, Black on Black (see sig) with the dark gray wood interior. I have 20" Work D3S wheels coming. Most likely going with a Mode Parfume body kit, Junction rear wing, on either coils or air sus.
 
The question, would this paint look good on this M45 of mine with the stated setup I have in store for it? Keep in mind, I would still keep all chrome triming.

I wouldn't go with mat black, your current color is dope! many people would want a black vip car, instead many of us have silver ! :)

I vote not...leave it the way it is.....or a nice white silver pearl...

I totally hear you guys, I really do. It’s not that I hate black, heck I searched for a long time to find mine. There is just something’s that are leading me to a paint job. One, my paint is pretty rough by my standards. 
Two, when I get a body kit (front & rear bumpers, sides skirts, and wing and possibly hood cowl too form JP), those will need to be painted. If painted black on my already rough paint it won’t look or flow well, if you know what I mean? Good paint with the bad.
 
The other thing is, I like to have difference, and I like things that break the norm. I have always been a fan of that aggressive yet subtle satin black paint job. It’s…sexy to me.
 
I'm not looking to be talked out of it as I haven't made up my mind yet. And I sincerely appreciate all comments. I am looking to see if it would look good in general and with the set up I have in mind.
 
That Benz in the pic is absolutely sex, I'm trying to picture my car like that. 
 
SIDE NOTE: If anyone has really good photoshop skills hit me up. There are some M45 pics that have a setup almost like what I want, that I would like to have Photoshoped with this paint color. That would help me get a better idea.

Just don't. It's going to look fine, in some people's standards, but WHY would you do that? That doesn't scream luxury to me, that screams I didn't have enough after they primered my car really well. It looks so tacky.

well if you like being different and u like breaking the norm...dont ask us what u should do...we are the norm...do it and show us whats up...

Matt paint looks hardcore gangsta, doesn't flow the your choice of wheels. The Works looks too elegant for a matt paint.

What about a mixture of matt and gloss paint on your car? With the right design, it will look cool without being tacky, IMHO.

That's satin, not matte. Matte looks like garbage on anything but a hot rod in my opinion. Satin has a sheen to it that looks like the car is always in a studio shot.

But, I don't think the M45 has the lines for satin paint.

If you love the way it looks and are not scared to do it, then go for it.  You only have to please your self

don't paint it...flat black is for hot rods and cars that look simply bad ass...an M45 will never look 'badass'...it can look badass VIP but not 'oh shit, that car looks like a convicted felon...

and besides, if you want a good paint job...it's gonna run you 4-5k since your prolly gonna want to paint all the jambs......the materials are expensive and labor to R&I all the parts...your car is new and that money could be better spent on rims, kit or air...

Ugh... my honest opinion? Flat/Satin black looks like ass on a car.
Always looks like the car caught fire and wasn't repaired.

I'm not even a fan of it on Rat Rods. Back then it was done more
out of necessity than actual style. It was cheap and hid shoddy 
bodyworking. These guys were all about going fast, not looking
showy (the antithesis of VIP). It became "accidentally" stylish.

I can live with seeing it on period-correct Rat Rods, but I would
never build a car that had a finish like that. Hell, it's not even
original or unique at this point...

If you're really going to paint it and want something unique (but
VIP-appropriate), I would do PPG Rattkesnake (dark dark brown
metallic) or a midnight blue-black or green-black.

But nobody has any balls, which is exactly why we have all 'traditional'
black or white VIP cars. Appropriate? Sure. Stunning? Not really.

For me, I would never duplicate or emulate a car someone else has already done!

eh, I say if you like it do it. Its cool to step outside the box. I predicted the suede look to x over to imports back in 01-02.
 
And for the record....most guys with hotrods and suede don't like the term ratrod...they prefer the term "traditional". Ratrod term is used to describe the cars that aren't put together correctly....and often used by people that are just trying to be trendy (like the weekend bike riders) and recently got into Hot Rods. ask me how I know...

If they're flat black, they're ALL Rat Rods to me.

The problem with flat black/suede hot rods it that I feel like
once I've seen one I've seen them all... and I am a car guy!

My '49 Coupe is getting painted soon... NOT a flat color!
