205/40/17 on a 9" wide wheel?

ok, so I decided to drop my coilovers all the way down in the rear, right now i'm running dunlop fm901's 215/40/17 on my rear wheel (17x9)....well i've been having some rubbing issues on some routine bumps and humps here in jacksonville...i've cut, rolled, and pulled my rear fenders, but the main problems seems to be the caster in the rear of the scions xB's.....i never touch up top, but anytime the car goes low, or the wheel is pushed up, the caster is pushed forward and my tire hits the front of the wheel well...well my option i'm thinking now is running smaller tires, anyone ever stretched a 205/40/17 on a 9 inch wide wheel without problems? I'd look into the falkens, but honestly, i'm superstitious of them...every set of falkens i've ever had have blown on me in the most inconvenient areas (on bridges, highways, and out of town), so I just have this bad feeling about them (god doesn't want me to have falkens or something)....any suggestions? someone has suggested busting out the welder to fix the caster issue, but i REALLY don't want it to come down to that :-[

Thanks

Re: 205/40/17 on a 9" wide wheel?

I'm running 205-40-17 on a 9", goes on lovely, no issues, but my tire man is experienced at stretching tyres, been doing it 10 years.

You need some pics of the look?

I moved from a 205-45-17 to a 205-40-17, it dropped the front slightly, and allows more turning circle, but I now need to space the fronts out a bit now.

What Falkens blew out on you? I have only ever known them to be good tires.

I have seen 205/40/17s on a 9 before. You just have to have a good relationship with the tire guy! hahah My tire guy gets pissed off when I want 225/45s on my 9s! What a wimp. ;D

had no problems with running it, you feel a few more bumps but it's cool.
