Curtain install issues.

is there a special trick for installing curtains on a Y33?  i tried it yesterday with zip-ties to keep the rails on while the tape adhered but when i cut off the zips about 40 minutes later the rails popped off.  today i get a heat gun and go at it with that but it just warps the rails and doesn't really help out too much.  i'm not really wanting to f**k up the rails or my interior.  any insights would be appreciated.

what kit are you using....here are a few tips.  clean the area you will be applying the tape with alcohol before you try to apply the 3m adhesive tape.  any interior dressing will all but ruin your chances for it to stick.  let it dry completely, they should stick with no problem them.  It's likely you'll need to double sided tape now though.  I followed these steps and my rails are still holding on really well through the extreme heat of this summer and some pretty cold below freezing days already this fall.

Do below:

1. Clean area with adhesive cleaner or alcohol
2. get yourself some 3M adhesive promotor
3. apply to the area that the rail will be attached too
4. set rail on desired location and press firmly to
    to make sure the whole rail is attached.
5. let dry
6. ENJOY!

under any conditions.

yep, these are the curtains from PGMotoring.  i like them because they are kind of subtle/not too flashy.  i did forget to clean off the surface before trying to mount them, but the tape actually stuck to the part of the door that i condition regularly and wouldn't stick to the parts that never get cleaned.  kind odd.  i'm going to pick up some of the 3M tape and try it all again this week.  if it works you'll see some pics of them being as they are my first real mod to the car.  thanks for the tips.

If it has a metal rail, put that one on the top. Replace the double side tape with 3m or Scotch double stick tape (looks gray with red peel off covering), it much stronger than the stock tape.

guys, I have two sets of anceltion curtains in my car, the first set I had and had major trouble with had METAL rails, with the curtain hook running on the outside of the rail. These damn things refuse to stay in place....doesnt matter how much surface prep, bending, heating, etc, I do. Even new 3M double-sided tape didnt help.

The second set I got had the hook running inside the rail, the rails were all plastic, and I havent had one bit of trouble with them. :pat:

i thought the plastic went at the top because it needs to be molded to the shape of the window?

I did to when I bought my first set! hahahahahha! :pat: 
The metal goes on top so you can bend it to the contures of the window!

well...that explains why the plastic ones would not stay the hell on.

clean and prepare area well (plastic sills), also use hair dryer if outside temp. is low. get that double stick tape "tacky" so that it adheres to the plastic sills.

Guys the best stuff to use if it absolutely
doesn't stick is 3M adhesive promotor.
Its made to help the tape react better
when applied. I work at a body shop
and we use this stuff, trust me this will
keep them on for sure.

is that WITH the tape or in place of the tape?
