Do wheels really matter?

Do wheels really make a impact on a Vip car.
Now, im not talking about authentic or replica wheels but more of brand names.
Most of you fellas are rocking JDM wheels. So, if a M45, Q45 , LS & Gs was rocking some
HRE's, Brabus, iForged, DPE's . . . & it had it's fitment game would it make a difference?

i dunno how to answer. it's all about luxury, but then again it's mostly about jdm luxury. i know the lowenharts made that onestar majesta, and there are a ton of cars in the mags on those lorinser "fins" to the point where jdm companies are copying them. so i'll say this: if you're gonna go outside of the norm you better pull it off to the point where no one questions why you did it.

Its all about how you pull it off.

I dont think theres a limit when it comes to brands ect. Just aslong as the fitment and the design flows well, and their not no knock offs ect. Then your good.

Brabus, Lorinser and other euro top of the line brands are accepted. I could see HRE pulling it off since their wheels are classy and you can choose custom offsets and widths. The quality isnt as good as some of the JDM companies out there and the prices are heigher though.

Lowenhart is Japanese. Hart group: Lowenhart, Racing Hart, Eurohart

I guess this is actually "does a wheel's origin matter"?

And I'd have to say no. It depends on the quality of the wheel... what class it's in, so to speak.

I would definitely put brands like Sevas and Asanti as Vip car worthy.

It's not even like all Japanese wheels are the highest possible quality anyways. Just look at cast Work wheels vs. Asanti forged.
You'd have to be trying pretty hard to make a forged wheel that is inferior to a cast wheel.

correct as well. for some reason i always think of lowenhart as a euro wheel. same with bbs. :dunno:

don't know about that. from what i understand sevas is now all cast 1 piece. stuff like sysmbolic, hre, gfg, asanti just doesn't seemed geared towards the same style, but i'm sure someone could pull it off.

Does breathing matter?? Does food matter? Does LIFE matter? Without wheels life rolling stockies.

EDIT: Interesting how life with forged wheels is heaven but if it was only wire spokes it'd be hell. :-P

When did this happen? As far as quality is concerned, I'll put HREs up against
ANY of the Japanese wheels... any day of the week. (I worked for HRE for six
years as their Project Manager, so I think I'm qualified to chime-in).

Bottom line is that a custom wheel by nature lends itself to the VIP scene
(due to the availability of custom offsets) and these will traditionally be
more expensive than an off-the-rack wheel.

As an aside, the Work VS-XX I tried to order for the AE86 were NOT available
in the offsets I required. Work Japan made a big deal about trying to hit the
EXACT offset numbers I was trying for. I canceled the order...

Ummm, i'm not sure what your asking. Is this a wheel BRAND question? If so, I don't really see the confusion in distinction. I want to believe that obvious high quality is the goal. Mostly when I see Asanti, Geovanna(whatever), TIS or any rims you get at Rent-A-Wheel, I don't think high class. I just imagine the wheels making bling noises when I see'em rollin. Wonderin if they will continue spinning after the car stops. In that case, fo damn sure the wheels make a difference!

You don't think high class when you see Asanti?
$2,000 forged wheels custom built from bolt pattern to finish aren't high class, but cast wheels are when they're made in Japan?

BTW, before you compare wheels. Make sure they are created for the same purpose. FYI WORK Specialize in performance racing wheels , and Asanti does not. I'd like to see Asanti create a forged racing wheel superior to the cast ones WORK makes.

I think wheels are very important on a VIP car. One of those things that makes it or breaks it..I personally have allways like Vielsides because they have such huge lips and they are a true three piece wheel...(makes it easier to refinish) I nice put together VIP car with some TSW down grades the cars eye candy to me...and vs versa any car with top notch wheels looks way better even without the VIP add ons just cuase the wheels.............so yeah Wheels really matter...

I don't think Asanti has attempted Vip, that's not their market. But I really do think the right setup could be done with wheels from their lineup.

Asanti's are definatly baller status wheels w/ rims costing more than the higher brand "VIP" rims!
But I see them ALL the time and they do give off a more dub apperance! But that's because everybody tends to jus slap on the most extreme wheels they can! (Bigger/Wider) I think if somebody got the fitment on point they wouldn't look so Dubb out! I wouldn't count them out and I never talk about them because sh** they cost more than my whole car together!

thats for damn suree!! there is a few 7's in my area on asantis.

What kind of comment is that? Work's Varianza line is marketed towards luxury cars. And you're not gonna see Asantis on a race car either.

BTW I really hate TSW wheels.

He said Work makes race wheels. I pointed out that the Varianza line (and many others) are not at all race wheels.

This thread is very interesting. I hate when people put ugly, goudy chrome wheels on their bucket. I looked at the Asanti website and to me they do not resemble VIP status. I don't like TSW because they are basically garbage. I sold my last set (the ones that are in my signature) because I felt like the value of my car went down like pretty much everyone else in this thread said.

Yokotas13, to each their own but MRR design isn't cheap knock offs or VIP copies. MRR wheels are made at the same Taiwanese factory that many VIP monoblocks are made at. What MRR does is when there is a company like Lxury Hanes who doesn't want to bring their wheels into the US, MRR pays them to bring their wheel in under a different name. That's why some MRR wheels say stuff like Herriborani and Lxury Hanes on the spokes because they are importing from those companies who don't care about people in the US to bring the wheels in themselves.

Some people don't want the attention of expensive wheels, and some people don't want to pay $5,000 for a set of wheels ever if they can afford it, some people want a quality good looking wheel at a decent price. At a price where if you curb a wheel at 3-am at taco bell, it isn't the end of the world and it didn't just cost you $1,000.

I have had more then a few sets of MRR Wheels, hell I have a new set going on my car on Monday. I like them and their quality, and for what its worth, its nice to have a cheap set for the weekly grind and a sick multi-piece weekend set for ballin'

haha right on SherlockSEL, MRR wheels don't make knock offs. their wheels for the most part, are original designs by cosmic of japan. Notice the hereborani engraving on the wheel ? dur dur

as sherlockSEL said, MRR just gets them from the manufacturer and imports them into the states.

Hopefully MRR will start importing the luxury hanes into the states because I'd be all over it!!!
