[B]The legislation would also require operators of Internet marketplaces to investigate sellers for stolen goods whenever big retailers raise questions about the price of an eBay seller’s merchandise.[/B] [B]These investigations would allow big retailers to grind online marketplaces to a halt. While retail theft is a serious problem that needs to be addressed, this type of legislation is not the solution. It unfairly—and wrongly—targets online marketplaces like eBay and singles out Internet-enabled sellers like you.

That puts the sellers at risk too much. Do they not understand by providing names and addresses they are only going to make more stolen goods! I doubt this law will pass, I've read up on ebay and this is something they can't afford to have happen. Thanks for letting us know whats up.

if you run a website you have to do the same thing, although there are ways to get around it there too.
 
usually i'm on the civil rights side, but ebay is business. ebay can afford to keep this from happening, but i'm not all that opposed to the idea. it wouldn't be great for individuals selling on ebay, but most things on ebay are sold by companies. in those cases i believe this information should be available anyway. it would make tracking down unauthorized product sources a lot eaiser (something that is damaging retail sales in many markets).
 
i have a feeling that the reasons that are being given aren't the whole truth. however, i don't think it's a bad idea.

seriously I'm so sick of EBAY, I hope Google hurries up and gives ebay some good competition.

their fee schedules for sellers are ridiculous. It dis-courages sellers from selling.

I Hate Ebay and i think this is a good thing so that people dont get ripped off anymore. =)

I have to disagree on this one....
 
Ebay levels the playing field. A small guy can compete with big businesses to offer the best price for the consumer. the fact that these companies can no longer charge an assload of money for the same product is the problem. 
 
Employee theft isnt ruining them on ebay unless they (small guys) are doing it [I][B]Fast and Furious[/B][/I] style and jacking freight trucks with their civics. :smiley: 
 
 
Unauthorized vendors get their product from a wholesale company that has sum ties with OEM....go after them. 
This purposed way makes as much sense as the US war on drugs: They can see sum dude in the ghetto,in a dark alley sellin 2 bucks worth of crack...but fail to see the 2 tons of uncut bricks dropped off up town the same day. :pat: 
 
I sell stuff on Ebay, no way in hell im posting my phone number and address online. if people dont want to buy it, they can move on. If some company thinks im selling their product , they can contact me.... 
 
And they also want you list your[B] product sources[/B]...WTF?!? 
 
I can understand the brick and mortar business owners in their struggle to compete with ebay, but dont blame the next guy for trying to feed his family or start a business. 
 
Competition is competition....and in a dynamic marketplace these days you have to adapt or fail. 
 
 
one last thing, Ebay is getting expensive to sell on :sad: I dont like it, but there not many other options, so I have to side with them on this issue. It kinda seems like they are pushing out the smaller people as well.

[B]$100,000-Worth Of Gun-Shaped Tequila Stolen From Truck Stop[/B]
 
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An entire semi-truck full of uniquely-packaged tequila was stolen from Orange County. Investigators are trying to find more than $100,000 worth of tequila in bottles shaped like Tommy guns.
The tequila company said it was shipped in a trailer and inside the back of that trailer were the tequila bottles worth $100,000. The shipment was on its way to south Florida after it left Chicago last week.
The Tommy Guns Tequila Company said the theft couldn't have come at a worse time, in the middle of the holiday shopping season.

Tommy Guns Tequila said the missing 1997 Freightliner tractor is white with Texas license plates. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

i guess it depends on what stand point you are looking from. from an individual's view it is unsafe as well as rediculous. from a (honest) reseller's stand point it is good and is information you should be glad to provide.
 
i still don't think that stolen goods is the whole truth here.
 
i have mixed views on ebay. i don't like the unauthorized sales or crappy generic parts. i do like quality items with legitimate savings.

yup ebay fee's are ridiculous.

an auction site should charge their fee's on the total value,  VALUE OF ITEM + SHIPPING = total value.

and if doesn't sell, then no charge.

eBay has to make money somehow. And they seem to be able to continue to prosper despite the fees, so they don't really have a good reason to stop.

unless there is some real good competition.

sure charge a listing fee, etc. But to charge EXTRA for an item that doesn't sell is lame and dis-courages sellers. they in turn actually lose sellers and money this way.
