is black paint necessary to go VIP?

so according to this site, i guess i dont have a VIP car, just vip styled...barely.

what might make me more handicapped is that i have a white diamond pearl car. i know true vip cars can pull off any color. even maroon.

but the question is do you think its necessary for me to have my car painted black to look more VIP?

my car is due for a paint job soon and i just wanted to hear what you guys think. honeslty i think the WDP is a really sick and attractive color for the car, and the black is more refined and elegant.

i like the fact my car is white because my interior is changed to black which no white TL ever came with black interior as far as i know.

if i keep it white, im planning to paint the roof a really glossy black.

what do you guys think?

does it matter if your black or white?

why would you paint your roof glossy black??? leave that for the nsx. Just paint the whole car glossy mercedes black. Then get green or black tint. Get 19s with perfect fitment and stance...lower the shizzle out of it. then it would look vip styled. At least you have a big sedan so it would look decent vip styled.

To me personally, it's all in the total equation.

Deep dish wheels = VIP Karma +1
Flush wheel fitment = VIP Karma +1
Low low stance = VIP Karma +1
Nice subtle aero that flows with the car = VIP Karma +1
A black/white car = VIP Karma +1
Maroon and other subtle colors = VIP Karma +1(-1) = 0

The variables...

VIP Starter Kit (Fusa and Kinsuna) = If ur current score is more than 3 = +1 / If you score less than 2 = -1

Hope this helps...

i think you should just paint the car whatever color or combo of colors you want. you are the one paying for it and driving it right? do what you think is right. i'm not gonna change the stock color of my car...i love it and could care less if i don't get points for doing so.

and just a random rant: f**k a Fusa and Kinsuna...a VIP starter kit is buying a platform. a Fusa and Kinsuna make a car VIP they do not.

You don't have a VIP car... It's VIP, "Styled" but not a true VIP chassis.

However in my opinion, white can be a classy looking color if done correctly, so no worries. Most people would probably prefer black though.

Just keep it the stock color, don't worry if its vip anything. No one is going to care about the car as much as you so don't waste your time trying to live up to whatever this site's standards are. Just do what you feel is right since you'll have to live with the choices in the end.

^yep.

White is plenty VIP. If I did it again, I'd get white, black is a bitch to keep clean, and I'm anal about clean, so I'm always cleaning it.

I was in Japan for 2 weeks end of Sept / early Oct, and I've been 3 times. This time though, I saw many platforms not considered "VIP" that were done in nice VIP style, like the Toyota Chaser and Mark series and the Honda Legend (not sure the Acura translation, TL maybe) and I thought it was a nice change to see too. Your Acura is clean and nice, and the color is fine as it is, just focus on wheels, stance and fit like everyone else pretty much said.

I'm doing a black roof on my car. Otherwise it would look like a cream puff in white. That's my reason for it.

If you like it, go ahead. I don't think it would look bad.

Thats just the possibility of being delusional. Just cause I think my car is a Ferrari doesnt make it one.:pat: But in the end it really doesnt matter what we think. If you want to pull off vip style, start with the basics. Low stance, stretch tires on wide low offset wheels flushed with fenders. I wouldnt worry about paint unless your car was multicolored or primered.

honestly I bought my car because I wanted a white GS. I've been thinking about sanding it all the way down and re-spraying it in the House of Kolor Ultra Flat white with flat clear, I think it would really set it apart and still keep a nice muted tone.

By styling definations, I think that's too Euro looking IMHO. Maybe that's just me? Cheers...

But about looking clean, it's still doable without looking tacky.

Wait a minute... you said flat white with satin clear?

Not sure I'm feeling that. I think it would look like a
ragged-out Lexus that was badly oxidized and in need
of fresh paint. If you're going for a VIP look, I don't
feel that the flat finishes lend themselves to this look;
VIP is about luxury, image, maybe a little bit of flash.

On the other hand, it would be original.

One note: Typically, if you're
repainting a car, you would NOT want to strip it entirely
to bare metal unless you had rust issues. The OE primer
and base coats are pretty robust and the new paint will
usually adhere to the old paint better than it would to
bare metal.

I don't think there's much advantage to satin white unless you're trying to show off a pearl on an older car. Even then... enh...

White doesn't have a very glossy look to it (compared to darker colour) even when it's perfectly smooth. I don't think going satin would help it in anyway, and worst case, it would just look like it's old oxidized paint.

Black isnt needed but Dark colors just give you much more of a gangster ViP feel. Theres just nothing like seeing a wet looking dark colored big body car hovering over the ground. Everyone around has no choice but to look. Even if they are not making it obvious, they are looking from the corner of their eyes. Too bad you will be too busy looking at the ground for potholes to even notice but thats life.

Yeah, I'll paint the door handles as well, when the time comes.
I have a JDM bumper that is supposed to arrive in December, and that also has a black unpainted lower valence, but I'm not sure if I want to paint it. Probably will though, even if it'll get scratched up after a week.

I think black is a staple but not a necessity. White Burgandy, Black, Silver, are all common colors for a reason. They are ultra clean and show off the body lines of a car well without overpowering.
