HID kits on **** website

Yeah...so...HID kits for sale now for under $100? I guess this is why I'm seeing a lot of people blinding the road with them now....it's getting ridiculous. I wonder how quality are on these kits. They don't even come with a relay for a separate wire harness. I wonder what's going to happen when these start failing and causing fires.

W/ the more HIDs popping up on the road means that sooner or later, cops will start really inforcing and pulling over cars w/ HIDs! sucks! but luxary cars should get a little free pass!

I think we'll get a free pass, since we own a luxury car. You could easily say it's stock, and show them the owners manual. I believe in mine it shows the HID bulb. If not, I'll just tell them that Lexus comes stock with it from 1998 on, and if they would like me to fight it in court I will gladly do it and waste their time. 

I still don't think its safe that they are doing this though, selling these kits so cheaply makes me think that they are cutting corners, and it can be deadly.

If you have a properly aimed projector retrofit, you wont be blinding any cops and they wont be pulling you over...

My headlights are stock HIDs at the momment, but my FOGS...........
those are 10000K in clear housing w/ no reflector shield! Pretty bright!
I've had a few cops already flash there spot lights at me as I'm rolling by them! 
So unfortunatly, I'm one of those guys that are blinding the road! But on a positive note, the fog lights are aimed torwards the ground more! SO it lights up the ground in front of me!

Oh yeah, my HID fogs dont get turned on in the city... they are brighter than my high beams!

HID in non HID housing = fail, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

I'm glad they're illegal. I bet only 10% of the people who have aftermarket HID actually put them in retrofitted HID housings.

Thanks Pancakes... you can probably see from the pattern on the ground that they are pretty much 180 degrees of unshielded light. The actual bulb was too long so i had to take the reflector shield out of the fogs and there is nothing at all shielding the light

Firelizard, 10% is a bit much. I would put it closer to 1%

Time taken to install PnP HIDs: 1hr
Time taken to do projector retrofit: Probably looking at around 20hrs so far, and i'm only halfway there. Mostly researching and planning, but unless you are incredibly gifted i suspect this is normal

but i think HIDs in fog lights or high beams are a-ok. Reason being that they are MEANT to be blindingly bright. And fogs are not meant to be used in clear weather... in australia you can even get a fine for having fogs on in the city regardless of the weather.

Aimgain has cheap fogs so while installing my bulbs the reflector popped out, so I said F it and left them out! :biggthumpup:

Yeah, blindingly bright, that's why i opted to buy some HID reflector housings for my halogen lights (stock gs headlights) and i'll just rock the amber bulbs or if i want to be 'vip' then i'll get some blue headlight bulbs LOL

I dont care what anyone sais..once you go HID you never go back...I have had after market HID kits for the past 5 years. on all my vehicles oh yeah 
 
and I had a lifted 03 Chevy with 8000k hids

...Allways got flashed by oncoming traffic..so I would just luagh and say FY Fool..and put my high beams on too...hahahahaha....never got pulled over by any PIGLETS...
 
HIDS in any housing = very great visability...hologen bulbs = you need HIDS

Don't take it personally, but what you're doing by driving with your HIDs on (and flashing your highs on purpose?!) is being a huge douche. There's no nice way to say it.

What you're saying is that you enjoying purposely blinding traffic, and making it even worse for them when they flash (which is the usual sign for "you're blinding me") you.

That is incredibly unimpressive.
