Opinions On Tint
i need to finish off (yeah right) my car and put some tint on for the summer. Ive been thinking about green since it is different then most around my area, but i really don't need it to stand out that much. I can get 30% green no worries, but i think it might be too dark for my car. What are all your opinions on what colour and percentage i should put on my car? I was thinking either a light green or light blue...not sure about carcol
i was thinking something like antbo's colour which i saw goin through some threads - gonna hijack ur pic antbo :)
probably hard to see how it would be since my photo of my car has a shadow behind the windows though.
All opinions appreciated.

Green tints are VIP+1 plus it's legal... I'd say go for it.

Do whatever you like. I think the green tint would look good. I personally have black 5% tint all around, and 40% on the windshield. Are you planning on tinting your windshield too? I think you should.

i like light green on lighter color cars, gangster black on dark cars. i think the color on that y33 would be perfect. as far as your car not standing out, i think the ship has sailed on that one...

I like the green tint idea, or I think light blue would be cool too.
More of an OE Mercedes look... nice on a silver car.
I have SunGard light blue on my blue GS and to be honest I don't
really notice that it's blue. Everybody seems to like it... subtle and unique.

Well, since you are in the strictest state of Australia when it comes to tinting, i would say green for sure. The green tint you see on the vip cars in the mags is actually around 60-65% (i.e. 60% of light gets through), so its more like a glaze than a tint; and that should be legal even in S.A.
Especially now that you have a light coloured interior, the green tint will be much more noticeable, and it will still allow people to see your interior (it'd be a shame to hide it behind black tint)
I will be changing the tint on my car to green (62%) very soon - I bought some while i was over there :-)

:). i meant i dont need it to stand out any more then it already does. Yeah it is legal in SA Dom, up to 30%, but looking at 30% the other day looked way too green for me and i think would take away from the rest of the car. Yeah i was thinking around 60%....i'll have to see if there is any around that.

actually now that i think about it, im not too sure how good it;ll look without the windshield tinted, although if i do a light percentage of tint, then it should be ok. where im from it illegal to do the windshield at all other then the top 10cm....actually its illegal in my state to even have tint on the front windows at all! - ie you have to have 100% light through them. Ah good ole Australia, raping those who want to be different with their cars.

well the biggest problem i got now is that they dont make light anything other then carcol. they got 35% brown, 30% green, a 55% nuetral which costs twice as much, or a 50% carcol. The other thing is my glass has a brown tinge to it already, so light blue will not go that well with brown on it - already looked. the light carcol highlights the brown so i think im going that way. id love a light brown on it (50-60%) but they just dont make it here and i dont want to spend $400bucks on installing a 55% nuetral colour that doesnt come up as any sort of colour really.
