2000 GS400 / Which Strut goes with UAS?

i need the VIP guru's advice. Thanks in advance

i drive a 2000 GS400

i am planning on getting UAS. i have tein HA right now and the UAS wont fit over them.

i know i can use the Tein CS-t but thats a waste of money if i am gonna take the coilover apart.

i want to be able to let the bottom of the car touch the floor.
- what Shock/Strut can i use with the UAS?
- Whats the advantage of using coilove struts? will i be able to adjust the height even more?

Any shock that is 2.14 or smaller on the outside of it our bags will fit over.

On the GS/IS/SC's are a little tricky in the rear when your running a coilover. Typically when you install the coilovers they move the OEM location of the spring from the bottom up to the top. When you put the bags in they need to be down at the bottom because there isn't enough room up on the top. So, what this means if you have a full tap coilover even if the bag will fit over the threaded body you might have to do some modifications to the lower mount (shorten it) inorder to get the bag to sit low enough on the shock to get the car to drop.

If the coilover isn't a full tap (like the CS's) we can build a bolt-on lower bracket that will sandwich the lower portion of the shock to allow for the bag to sit down at the bottom.

The main advantage to the coilovers is that it will allow for you to have adjustable dampening. If your not looking for adjustable dampening then i would suggest using either your OEM or a good aftermarket shock. If your OEM shocks are pretty worn i will usually suggest putting a set of bilstien or kyb's on there. They are ALOT more affordable compaired to a full coilover.

Now the question becomes, Will adjustable dampening be worth the extra $500-$1000 thats really up to you guys to decide.

Also with the coilovers they will typically have a shorter upper mount. Which, would allow the car to go lower in the front. Now to gain some more drop you can trim the lip of the OEM upper mounts to allow for some extra drop out of it.

Thanks universal Air.
do you happen to know if Bilstein HD or Sports is less then 2.14in.

PXRLEX: How is ride on GR-2?? i heard its closer to stock (pretty soft). i want a firm ride, so i am leaning towards Bilstein (if they fit)

These arent like stock ... It bounces ...

Stock = perfect comfort ride ..

kyb = stiff , but not Extreme

If you are planning on driving low at like 40ish and not scraping think again it will seem like a soft ride as you scrape ...

Not sure how bilsteins ride ...

2 bad the has wont work .. I had those

good example the has are similar to kyb IMO

Pxrlex: hum... so i wont be able to drive with the tires slightly tucked on the UAS? With the HA's my rear tires is slightly tucked (pic's in sig). daily driven (minus the front lip). scrape here and there but nothing that bad. How low are you able to drive around the city and freeways with the UAS?

hows the body roll? close to stock or close to HA's?

Thanks in Advance PXRLEX!!
