Costs to build an engine?

Hey All,

well since I took my bags and wheels off the car I have decided to do something with the engine while I wait for some new air set ups to come out.

What is the going rate to do a custom fully built engine?

saw the clip of the 400hp Odyssey...and well I am hooked!

thats a really broad question i guess...none of us would kno much cuz i never knew ppl built odyssey engines nor do i think anyones built one here...but my ballpark guess would be around 3.5k on up depending on what you wanna do.

Was it a V6 odyssey or a H22 ? lol if it was just an H22, then it's not that much, well, depending on what you want to do. 400 hp sounds like a turbo h22, it's doable, about 1-2k in turbo parts, another 1-2k for a good block/head build, slap it all together, say 500 for misc parts, you should be spending like 4-5k on a solid build.

way to general of a question. you could easily spend 10k building an engine. at the same time 3-4k would do something nice. my engine build should run 6-7k. thats internals, im/head work, cams, etc... basically everything involved in an all motor build.

My NA 4AG build-up cost me about 6-7k with me doing all the labor as far as assembly..

It was making roughly 180-190hp with the following:

Blueprinted and knife edged block and crank
Balanced to 12k rpm
Block bored .50mm over
Arias pistons 81.5mm 11:1CR
Pauter Rods
5 angle valve job
TODA .5mm HG
TODA 304/288 cams
TODA Timing Belt
TODA Cam gears
TRD Vitz underbucket shims
TRD Valve springs
TRD bearings
PASS underdrive pulleys
ARP studs all around
Weber 45DCOE's
MSD 6AL
Koyo Radiator
Oil Cooler
Etc
Etc
