infiniti m45... unpopular?

i just saw this fs ad locally today:

http://autodep.com/Website/auto_details.cfm?AID=618

honestly, this is probably the only one i've seen here, ever. i remember once being told that they just sat on the dealer lots here and they couldn't give them away...

does anyone here own one? what are they like? i own a 99 gs400 right now and i wonder what it is like in comparsion to what i have... although many people tell me the m45 a bit homely, i kind of like it...

i was also wondering... what is the jdm equivalent of this car? is it a gloria or something like that?

Re: infiniti m45... unpopular?

That price is WAY too high. I was considering this car as my next purchase. Those cars have ultra low resale values because they are hard to fix (avail. of parts because the car is rare), insurance is very high, and it had a model year life of only 2 years. Research more on freshalloy.com or nicoclub.com about its oil burning engine. :buck2: To many of the industry's analysts, this car was a failure.

Re: infiniti m45... unpopular?

I thought m35 was the Fuga? What is the Fuga is the M35 is the Gloria?

btw, if Nissan dealers were trying to give away M35s I'd have one already.

I have a 2004 M45 with a Junction kit.  The 2004's seemed to have less problems with oil consumption than the 2003's.  I love the car and have no problems with it other than not driving it enough.  The car in Japan is a Y34 Cedric/Gloria and came with a V6 or turbo version while we got the 4.5 V8.  There's nothing available for the V8 as far as aftermarket components.  I love the rareness of the car itself, and with the badges off and the kit on, not many know what kind of car it is.  I'm one of the few fans of this car and love the look...that's why I bought it.  Since the new M35/M45 (new body is the FUGA), the 1st Gen M45's are selling for really cheap.

the price listed for the car in the ad is in canadian dollars...

i completely forgot about the q45. that's another infiniti i see even less of than the m, which means never ever. all we pretty much see is g35's running amok.

Re: infiniti m45... unpopular?

I have a funny feeling its the other way around (4.5 liter) i mean it isnt a chevy so ;D i doubt that.
M45s are not that common for some reason honestly on the eastcoast i have only seen 2 actolex's and one in newyork.
Thats about it plus yea the resale value on them is pee squat your lucky to get one for a good price.

Re: infiniti m45... unpopular?

And here's why I drive an econobox. What I paid for it ($4,275) would have got me a lot more in the States, even with the exchange.

2003 M45 for $45,000 here

Re: infiniti m45... unpopular?

even thought there isn't much for the engine, I thought there was a M35?. I swear I saw one or two where I live. none the less, just get some nice mufflers on it and it will have a growl to die for. I like that car and would get one myself If I could afford it. Interior is quaint and saw a couple in Japan last fall done up. they looked cool.
