Sun Killing Curtains
So right before the new year I noticed my curtains color looke a bit off.
After investigating further, I found the sun has washed the color to a dull purple.:signdammit:
So I am wondering 2 things.
1. How can I restore the color.
2. If I de-install the rails partially to get the curtains out would I have to replace the rails since the metal one doesn't like to bend back into shape very well. Especially when the rubber trim has been removed.

Id remove the curtains and use some Rit Dye to get them back to black. You shouldnt have to replace the rails. Just remove the rubber stop at the end, then replace it when you install the curtains again.

Just out of curiosity what kind of tint are you using? (if at all but it looks like you are in your sig) It would seem to me tint should prevent that by blocking out most of the UV rays?

YEP! Mine (Garson) turn brown!
I used to roll w/ my windows down ALL the time!
+ I don't have tint or light in the front
my rear windows are stock tint maybe like 50-60% and those are fine
BTW- I'm on my 2nd set of curtains!
I usally jus rotate the backs to the front
I've been meaning to redo my tint! Maybe I'll through that on my to do list!

No problems with my white ones yet and they have been on there for a while now...
Damicci , why dont you take them off and take them to an ulphoster and have them make you some with leather ones...That would be and on the Straps have them Embroider your Name or something that would be PIMP!

Sucks but its part of the game if you dont have tint. Just get new ones and try to recover some of your loss by selling the old ones.

I have tint, but it is the factory tint as pancakes mentioned. I only partially crack my windows never left them down since i got the curtains. and the parts where I cracked the windows where they are faded the most. Not as bad as your Pancakes but enough for me to notice.
Kidzik mentioned I should try getting some suede ones as they won't fade.
As for removal i have mine back against the B pillar so I would have to pull the rail off to get the curtains out. There is not enough room to just pop the back piece off. And I locked them in position with the plastic end piece.
(F@#k I put the rails on backwards I bet)

I don't think that is really related, it's fabric and as strong as the desert sun it's going to fade over time. Just alot sooner than I expected.:pat:

fabric is fabric. Whoever thinks it wont fade in the sun...
It doesnt matter if its cheap or not. a $900 Versace shirt will fade just as good as a $9 hanes

Why not just buy new curtains? Better off buying curtains than re-upholstering.
Or you could have the windows tinted and not have to bother with curtains.
