yeah me too. hopefully i can pull something nice off, regardless of what it gets categorized as.  stance and fitment will definitely be on point though.

I like the DEMO pic above and the doors look SICK!!!! IMO!

maybe to be different i'll do a blackwood or grey burl rather then cf. i think that would follow the luxury/sport feel. who knows? i have a little time left to make up my mind and either way it will be the same pieces being water transfer printed.

I say go with blackwood if you can. It seems to put a 'luxury' feel to the car. I can't see the pictures yet, since I'm at work. I'll be checking back again later. You could get a blackwood GS knob if it'll fit your car. KInda pricy though, around 1-150? something like that. Unless you are going with that other shiftknob you were talking about earlier.

i ended up finding a discontinued push-to-shift knob that has been used by some maxima.org members on ebay for just a few bucks. i figured no loss if it sucked, but i got it and tore it apart and it should work perfectly. i will have it re-wrapped in matching red leather and have the brushed aluminum top piece coated with my trim pieces.
 
from there i'm going to cut the shifter arm down, convert to a manual trim piece with a red boot, and put a digital gear display where my car lighter goes.

Keep it up looking good. Can't wait to get started on mine no where near as drastic as yours. Looks like I'm gonna be talkin to you soon about some JICs.

yeah man... i'm actually getting a little excited myself. since my work is finally being done and now i have a deadline i've even started putting in some work myself, which i haven't done in some years now.
 
i'm going to take care of dying all the plastic panels, redoing all my interior leds in blue and cool white, retro fitting my headlights, as well as finishing up my led tails.

I'll let you be the one with the Baller Status on the A32 suspension. I'm gonna sell my 99 GXE I just got back from my brother (was gonna 3.5 swap it but not into the whole go-fast thing anymore) and sell my 99 740iL and with the proceeds get a 2001-02 740iL or an Audi A8L. Either way the money on that suspension upgrade is probably enough for my wheels\tires that will be going on one of those cars. Hell, I might as well get the wheels for my A32 project but I gots to get the body work done first.

Oh no not giving up on it at all. If i do the hybrid suspension it will be later on in the future. For now i'm just worrying about getting rid of the deer damage and getting my "mock-up" wheels on. I'll prob get the wheels, JICs, then get the bodywork done. I'm currently on S-Techs so its not like its gonna look totally ridiculous but my current stockies are starting to leak around the beads due to the 10yr old chrome. Any updates on the LED project?

man my last design was bad because i didn't double chack my math. the 3 sets i made (1 spoken for) can be salvaged though, and i'll be selling them off fairly cheap if you're interested.

today i inventoried all my plastics and stripped down my dash. i have some pieces missing from all the shop-to-storage-to-shop-to-shop action. gonna get the needed pieces, some replacment pieces for the ones i already dyed (think i can do better), and replacments for my wood trim so i can have them printed (blackwood).

naw. you're actually thinking of the evo-5 which was a very popular wheel. the ones aaron has is an updated version of them. mine are by a different company and just happen to look similar.

Thank gawd they arent the evo-5. Its like OE on the 4th gens on the org and everytime someone gets them people are like 'nice wheels man i cant wait to get my set'. Yeah, they do fit the car well but its like there is no more originality there anymore.

I would prefer to have a set of Evo-5s than the Vortexs in the picture above.  There are not too many wheels that look good on the 95-99 Maximas, so if people get the Evo-5s their car will look good no matter what style they go for...

i just never dug the fake rivets. alessio f1s were another nice wheel  that looks similar.

Yea, those are alright, the spokes were too thin though...

i'll probably end up selling these wheels before they ever see the road anyway. i dunno... 1 day i love them and don't care, then the next i want something better.

(painted) j30 calipers for a brake upgrade kit i'm working on. 2 piston calipers (vs. single piston stock) and 12.6" rotors with factory wheel clearance so just maybe i can run a super low disk front down the line.

Looks good.  Do the pictures show the right color?  Or are the pieces really brighter/darker then they show.  What paint did you use?

the pics probably make it look a bit brighter and a little orange. i dunno, its a bright a** red (which is what i wanted). the coating is sem color coat flame red.

Dayum Cuz!! I was against the whole red interior thing at first but it looks like EVERYTHING is going to be red! That shyt is gonna be NASTY!!!!

yeah bro... on a little delay though. i ran out today. for some reason nobody stocks more than a case of this stuff. if i had a car i would go get some from a paint supply store, but right now i have to have evrything delivered. once i get these led tails finalized and this brake kit together i'm gonna have to start lookin for a clean g50.

Nice progress so far man. I've got an A33 and you are giving me hope for my car. I like the MRR wheels. I'm going with the Gt1's myself. Black face with the chrome lip. Once I get really started I'll post up some pics.

whats going on bro? the coating is sem color coat. i was having some issues with parts not coming out perfect as first, but once i started doing a good prep job it was smooth sailing. luckily i found replacment parts for the the pieces that weren't 100%. the only piece that didn't come out perfect and i won't be replacing is the dash. i'm going to see what i can do to touch it up, but the flaws are in places you'll never see anyway.

first i hit everything with a sponge/orange based liquid detergent then towel dry. slap on some rubber gloves and use the system specific plastic prep with lint free paper wipes. after that you apply another system specific plastic softener and dry spray your first coat. i found that the temperature plays a HUGE roll, but that shouldn't be a problem since we are out of "winter". lol. i also refuse to use the supplied aerosol tips and invested in some ny fat caps (graffiti anyone?) to get a wide well dispersed spray pattern.
 
as far as flex, thats what this stuff is made for. its not just paint but more like a plastic coating. our panels are pretty much straight plastic, so theres not as much flex/padding as you would think.

well for a long time i wanted to go with the fabulous intense but after being told i couldn't get it, or just not getting responses period, enough time has passed that i have pretty much changed my mind. now i have a slightly different overall look in mind. the same company that is doing my water transfer printing also redoes steering wheels so thats where i'm leaning now. 1/2 blackwood, 1/2 red leather wrap. only problem is they deal with oem colors so i'm going to have to see if i can work somethig out.

giving up on this car is not an option, however my direction does change as the build drags on. my new thing is i want to build the car with no identifiable style i.e. no name brand or obvious accesories, just cues taken from multiple souces. that way the car will really have to speak for itself.

i painted my whole interior as well. came out oem for most of the parts: dash, plastic panels, pillars, door panels.

only thing that didnt work out was seats and carpet. but i bought some seats and carpet.

full red interior but no particular style. i actually just figured out today that i've been using the wrong adhesion promoter, hopefully it will be ok though.

so i got the air on... some good and some not so good.
 
not so good - didn't go as low as i wanted. the pics are of the non radiused side on oem altima 17s at full low. with a LOT of work i could pick up the ~2" i need to lay subframe, but i think i'm gonna stick with this.
 
good - ride height will be at full low with flush 19s and about 1/2-3/4" wheel gap and no danger of crumpling my fenders. not bad for a solid rear beam...

Man w/ all that time and effort it makes me wonder how freash it would of been if you had done a traditional VIP platform......

no... both sides will be radiused and smotthed. wheels will be flush 19s. ride hieght will be 0psi, ride quality will be 0. lol. it basically turned out how we discussed a while ago. my suspension is basically solid metal, with the ability to raise for obstacles.

That's cool... but you won't be able to go tsuraichi with that radius right?

i probably wont be able to kiss because of the side to side articulation of a solid rear beam. i'm not 100% sure yet. but i will be VERY close at the least (~1/2"). the wheels pictured are 17s so i will eat up a lot of gap when the 19s get here. i will also be flattening out the fender bump/lip to recover the remaining distance. it should be the best fitment found on an a32 (that i've seen anyway) as well as the lowest.

Yeah, I'm like 5mm or slightly less that flushed and it occasionally rubs now :'(

IMHO, someone has upped the bar for A32 in Malaysia though. There's an airsus running around in JB area.

i think you are misunderstanding. my 19s will be flush but, most likely, with a small gap between the lip of the wheel and the 1/4 panel.

You're saying there's a slight gap height between the two?

yes. once the wheels get here and i test mount them/ work the 1/4s i'm going to see how little of a gap i can get away with but because of the no camber issue i will have to have some kind of gap (as little as i can get away with).

Can you notch your frame to get the beam higher, and make the car lower?

I know you can do this with the Previa. Might be different though on your Maxima.

i could do quite a few things to get lower, but for now i am going to stick with this. i decided yesterday that once the wheels go on and the 1/4s are cleaned up and worked how i want them if i'm still not happy i am going to cut it up to lay rocker. but as of right now i'm really wanting to build for decent sized wheels and low ride height. if i make it lay out my wheels will have to be smaller and/or my ride height higher.
 
just to note, it is lower than what it looks in the pics. the wide point of the rocker is ~6" off the ground and thats what you're seeing in the pics, but the floor pans are only 1.5". laying rocker will require cutting out the floor/trunk and fabricating new parts.
 
another option is to buy a kit to eat up the difference between the rocker and the floor pan. i might do this but probably not.

sem color coat... i think i need to go back and clear everything for durability. just heard about that. as far as updates not much... i have a few things i'm working on but nothing is complete. i've kind of moved into a new phase so tools/supplies need to be collected.

lowenhart ldr 19x8.5/9.5. custom powder coated lips (needs to be redone). general uhp 215/235-35-19.

They turned out nice.  Should go with the look your going for

i have some pics of some actual work but they are still on the camera. rear is getting tuubbed, frame rails notched, both sides radiused, body work progress, etc. i'll get those up in the next week or 2.
 
other than that i've just been buyin up everything. audio, carputer, engine parts, etc.

don't get me wrong...lowenharts have some nice styles but their quality sucks arse imo...too easy to bend/crack...

i really couldn't tell you since the shop that ruined them dismounting tires payed for it. it was all done out of state before they got to me, and even if i did know who it was i wouldn't recommend them anyway. they look ok in the pics but not so great in person. i'm going to throw them on the car for now so i can build around them but they will get redone before the car hits the streets.
 
i wouldn't expect to pay more than $400 or so to get it done.

cool mayng looks good. Never had lownhearts so dont know the quality but they sure look cool especially with the machined face...I like that style of rim choice...anxious to see your end product....:biggthumpup:

I believe Lowenharts are made by Rays, so the quality is good.

not sure about that, i was under the impression that hart group made their own wheels. either way they're min and i like em. :biggthumpup:

i worked at a rim shop a few years ago and we moved a few sets of lowenharts. never saw anything come back but that doesn't mean they never had problems i geuss.

these won't be the final wheels on the car. i ran into some clearance issues (wheel on bag when dropped) and had to buy spacers, which i hate, to remedy the situation. they're a good wheel to start out with but once the car is complete i'll probably switch to some sp1s or nkb cups.

I see. I'm contemplating those wheels for now. Wanted to run HR-3's, but I think they will be too heavy, and I don't want to run 20's. I hate looking for wheels.

i can dig that. its a love/hate thing. its fun to look for wheels to a point, but after that it gets nerve wrecking.
 
you have a gs right? never been quite clear on what you drove. i have a mag with a gs slammed on hr2s. looks pretty sick. i like the hr3s more but the size is an issue. my hr2s were supringly light for cast 19s (~25lbs i believe).
 
theres also some new cosmic wheels that look pretty nice but i'm not sure if you want to go through all the trouble of importing a 1pc cast wheel.

not sure what sherlock society is up to but they were working with mrr and getting the venerdi and lxry hanes wheels so they might have some options as well.

Yeah I drive a GS. No need to post up, don't have anything good done on it except suspension, which is changing even now. Might post up a write up on putting in an air setup. 

As for wheels, The HR-2's just stick out to me, I like the no-lip look, but can't hang with a 46 pound wheel like those club linea misterios I had. Too heavy, I lost like 40 miles to the tank, maybe even more because of the weight of the wheels. 

I forgot about Tophat customs. I might have to hit them up! Thanks for the info.

That looks awesome!  I was thinking about welding in the extra space on my Maxima.  What kind of shape are your axles going to be in?

man theres no telling just yet, but for some reason the angle doesn't look aweful. not even as bad as the pics you showed me of yours a while back.
 
i finally got around to talking to the guy about custom length axles and he said theres nothing he can do. next step is looking into high angle cv joints. uncharted territory so who knows...
 
worse comes to worse i'll just be swappin axles a lot.

Insurance money for the G50 now. A loss, but a gain in a way.

no insurance on the car or the shop. it is a loss. the g50 is being taken care of regardless and i will buy a new a32 to complete this build, although it will be a little different and a bit more simple.

minor setback for a major comeback.

yeah man, i got to. that car is what my business is centered around so i need to have one. this time i'm going to start with an i30 though. already have the build pretty much mapped out in my head, and a good portion of the parts still. just need some cash and a little time (hopefully less than last time).
