new member! q45 soon

i currently drive a z33, but will be selling it soon to get a 97-00 q45.
i actually started out looking at 02+ q45s, then moved to 03-04 m45s, now settled on the older q. plans are work wheels, springs, and tint. maybe lip kit, but i doubt it.

They're both right! 18s can look good, but you have to do a lot of work and ride extremly low all the time to compensate for gap!
 
19s are the ideal size that everybody goes w/ and those look good!
 
20s are big but they fit the Q very well!!!!!!
 
There's some NICE 18s in the for sale thread for 1500 shipped! Perfect fitment for a Q45!!

Welcome.  Springs wont allow you to go low enough to pull of the style.  Save alittle more and get some coilovers so you can adjust your ride height.  Goodluck

Sorry for assuming but price is usually the issue since parts cost alot for these cars.  You may not find any Y33's on this forum with 18's.  There was one but it was slammed so the 18's didnt look too small.  Im not knocking 18's since I just switched down to 18's but since you want a mild drop, 19's will fill the fender gap alittle better.  Reguardless what you end up doing, you can chill with the tristatevip guys

this is the usual newbie approach.

And it is often too late to turn back once u realize you've made a mistake. You just end up spending more money and time, more money because you'll realize nobody wants to buy your lowering springs and your 18", more time because you'll have to start all over un-installing and waiting and waiting for new parts.

You can't take short cuts with these kind of VIP platform cars, in order to suck every drip of VIP juice out of it, you have to go real low and go all out.

the mentality of "I don't want to go that low" already defeats the purpose of going with a VIPcar. Mind as well keep it stock.

anyone in the tri state that could point me to a decent condition black y33 under 160k miles- i would appreciate it! looking for a decent deal and prefer the black interior (though the black interior isnt really necessary)

Youre never over that :) I saw a black G50 , I dont know the mileage though, it was by my house in West New York

a g50 is what again? (an f50 is an 02+ q45, right?)
i know a ton about s13/14s, FCs/FDS, z32/z33, etc... still learning more about these cars.
i test drove an 03 m45 last week. loved it, but the deal was bad. they offered me booty for trade in on the 350 and i decided a house is more important than car for now.

I'm not talking down on you, teasin you, playin with you, pokin with you, or whatever u think I'm doing to you.

in fact, this may be the best advice u will ever get.to help u save time and money just have fun whatever u decide to do.

I started off the same way.  Although I knew some things about VIP and loved the way it looked, I wanted to have a stock car that I could drive around everywhere, something that my other car wasnt.  I bitched about bad roads, not going low and not stretching that much.  3 years later, there is no limit to this madness and driving the car is no longer a pleasure, its more like a headache but I love it.

I would take Q.Class' advice, as me being one of those people who took a shortcut or 2 an dnow I am not completely happy with my car. I could probably sell my parts to start over but I don't want to drive a half-assed VIP Platform vehicle. So I just suck it up. Just cause you are familiar with other vehicles doesn't mean anything when you switch to a new genre a cars. VIP and Drift cars don't share too much of the same aspects except for stance. I don't think anyone is insulting your intelligence just giving you advice based on quite a bit of experience.

that car is close as hell to me! its silver though and too much money. not that it's not worth it, cuz with only 60k miles on it and that immaculate interior, it is. just not what i'm looking for.

Ask if they provide 2-3 day coverage, some dealerships do that..Make sure you finalize everything before you go  there, and get it in writing so you dont get there and screw you. Good luck

well, i asked and the answer was no. it's NH though, so i guess it makes sense as they don't even require insurance there.
i'll have to get a bank check/certified check.
searching on my bank's website i cant find a branch within 30 miles of Jay, VT or the town in NH.

Just a hint.... I bought mine from texas and had it shipped. DON'T i repeat, DON'T use a cheap shipping company. I should have gone with the covered trailer but NOOOO.. tried to save couple hundred dollars.

the car above mine on the trailer had an oil leak, the truck drove through the desert during the summer... hence caked on sand all over my car... plus its black, I've got swirls out the wazzooo.

Thats ok, I plan on getting a cut and buff on the whole car pretty soon.

price was a factor.
but the more i looked at them, the less i liked them.
i was gonna get an m45 with payments or a y33. ended up getting at $6k
i just like this body. look at pics of them on this forum.

i'm gonna give it at least a month to try and track down a set of 19x9 work euroline SL, but other than that i'm considering d3s, work LS 406.
i've also considered oem wheels off other cars. 19s off an m45 sport with 20mm bolt ons, etc.....

tein springs (2" drop)
probably the m45 sport wheels with 30mm front and 35mm rear bolt ons (unless i can find work euroline SL)
light tints all around
remote start that ive had forever
compund headlights and put xpel film on em and maybe get a 4000k HID kit. (need to look into that. like will the beam pattern be a disaster etc)
hid kit for fog lights (if that exists)
andrew bain led tails and sidemarkers (get over here andrew!!!!)
ipod cable
and possibly a tame double din head unit (hard to find one that doesnt look like a circus these days)
if i have it awhile i would consider repainting. paint is 8.5 out of 10 for an 11 year old car.

first things that need to be done:
vaccum and febreeze and shampoo 5 times. 
get headliner cleaned. (the interior is in great shape except for the headliner being dirty in a couple spots)
detailing
replace air filter/cabin filter/fuel filter
oil change
new wiper blades (rainx latitude!)

i decided i dont like the look of the 99+ HID lights.

the guy i got it from was so nice.
he actually only had it a month and did work to it before he decided to get a murano for the wife.
it has all new tires, struts, battery, and brakes (rotors and pads)
he has two sons. one owns a garage in PA and the other a body shop. i would abuse that if i were him, lol
runs like a champ. pulls hard and idles rock solid. shifts good
in addition to parts/repairs reciepts he already had two "reciepts" for me that he made himself and signed. one for the real price and one with $1000 on it. he also included a fsm cdrom for carluch and an original leather infiniti has some new from the dealer trim pieces and heated seat switches.
owners manual thing he had bought on ebay.
this was the guys 3rd q. the other two were the older gen
he let me use his insurance and plates for the ride home. he said, "mail em back whenever"

this dudes only downfall was that he was a smoker and the car has a funk that needs to be expelled. there was a fucking cig butt in the ashtray. nasty.
i'm still thrilled even though i overpaid a lil.
$6100 for a 97 with 115k miles.

its amazingly quiet and stable at 85 mph. feels like im going 45mph.
power/auto/memory everything.  sunroof!!!
working ac/cruise control/traction control

im aware i sound crazy, but im way happier today than when i got the z!!!!!

so i took it to the car wash and vacuumed it out. cleaned the leather. bought some upholstery cleaner that worked suprisingly well on the headliner.
one of the headlight bulbs was super blue looking and i picked up a regular9003 to replace it.
turns out a ghetto bird must have owned it at some point. there was a 100w blue bulb on the passenger side. that and the oem connector was removed. the spades on the bulb were individually connected and the metal clip thing was fucked with. i put the spade connectors on the 9003 the same way and it works for now.
the hood rat who put that super blue thing in there had some kinda black tacky shit holding each spade on. i dont. i only need it to last long enough for me to pass inspection. then headlights come out anyway to take out orange reflector.

Wheels look the same except bigger. I can tell the slight differences but overall look similar.
Still better than stock I guess.

ok i found an actual y33 with m45 wheels.
it's black just like my car and has the same springs i want to run.
his spacers are 25mm all around. i wanted to run a lil bigger.

Only problem with that is the cost...which he's trying to keep down.  I say it needs to be lower, and with like at least 30mm spacers..hard to tell from that pic of the wheel fitment.

this is pretty much how my car would look. (same drop and fitment to a T)
the wheels are mrr hr2 19x9.5 +35. (would probably run no spacer or maybe a 10mm. are there any good hubcentric spacers in 10mm? this wheels hub bore is 73mm and the car's hub is 66.6mm)

saw some Amistad type r in 19x9/19x10 +24 for both but got there late and they were sold.
looking into AME shallen LX (check the pic of their y33 in the ame gallery)
i want to use 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 tires. there isn't shit for selection in the 275 tire!
found that greddy (trust actually) has a good spring available and am trying to get a set. 55-60mm drop and 3.4front/3.1 rear spring rate. (10-15mm lower than tein springs)
my brother got me a cima grill back on my birthday and the spare set of head and tail lights arrived yesterday. pics to some of the headlight refurbishing soon. LED tails may take a while.

so i found some wheels i like.
they're lowenhart LDR. 3 piece forged wheels. 
19x8.5+39 and 19x9.5+45
going to go 25mm spacer all around. actually 30mm would be better, right?

Will look good, what offsets are they?

the offsets suck, but i already have some nice 30mm bolt ons on the way
the wheels are +39 for the 8.5 fronts and +45 for the 9.5 rear
so, i'll send up with 
8.5 +9 front and 9.5 +15 rear
