My KA9

Here it was stock.

Forum image

I have lowered the rear another 1.5 inches after I took this picture. I will post better pictures when I get around to taking some.

It's on Koni's/H&R's for a KA7 Legend actually. The rear has some custom lower shock mounts that make it possible to raise or lower the height. I was going to wait for air but I gut the bug and had to lower asap. haha

that's very creative with what u did, but is it bouncy? the legend springs rate don't support the weight of the ka9, maybe the HandR does, I dunno.

painting your sideskirts and some well fitting 19" would really close up that distance between wheel lip and fender, that is really all your car needs.

here's some nice wheels that would fit your car perfectly, nice lip to:

The ride really isn't as bouncy as I thought it would be. Air is in the future for sure though, no worries.

18x8 +35 215/40/18
18x9 +35 225/40/18

Thanks for the comments guys.

Cool...any rubbing issues? Did you roll your fenders? Wonder if those offsets would work on a 07 Accord Sedan.

From the looks of it. I don't think he would be rubbing. Probably tire in the front when making a hard turn possibly. That was the only time I rubbed and I had my tein's all the way down. Wondering if I removed the lower lock on the teins then I'd probably could go lower. Oh and my fenders were rolled. Honda has the easiest fenders to work, honestly.

Fenders are rolled. No rubbing in the front at all. Very slight in the rear under hard cornering. The spring rates a re a little on the soft side and if I went with something a little stiffer I wouldn't have that issue at all.

The sides will be painted soon. I just have to get my lazy ass to take them off. This was only the first portion of my plans with the car. I am still looking at body kits and air options.

Thanks for the compliments though guys. :)

yeah clearly it's not a race, but why would u want to do something that's "been there done that". Acura-legend.com has tons of generic 18" set ups since 4-5 years ago.

nobody has really pushed the envelope on the RL here in the USA, you already have the suspension control, why would u want to "half arse" it at this point ? You've already put in the effort and money on your suspension, why half arse it just to save a few hundred bucks ?

just an opinion, just trying to understand your point of view.

I am not half assing it. I bought these wheels for the simple fact that I was not sure on fitment. And that thay only cost me $450 :) I have a better grasp of what I can fit now and I will be upgrading, don't you worry. Even the suspension will be getting a revision.

well let's see........ air-runner, couture - zauber royal effect mix/match kit - custom fitment 20" work d3s among many other things are a little more than "been there done that" no ?

there are the acura-legend.com "on a budget" / nico.com way of doing things and there are the VSC way of doing things.

just trying to suggest and help, not trying to create animosity.

oh and I don't approach every thread in this manner, only the frustrating ones that make me think "why would u want to do this" . =) . I'm just blunt on internet forums (what's the use of holding back with your opinions ? it's a chat forum) , and sometimes being direct and blunt is more beneficial than being discrete and fake.

I wish someone was there to be harsh and blunt when I started my Q, it was a disaster that caused me to waste a lot of time and money. For instance yourself, if it weren't for blunt and direct people like me, you'd be on Zenetti Heir wheels right? You went as far as ordering an additional pair of zenetti heir's to get a staggered set up then you changed your mind.

hey 450 is a deal!!!

about 1-2 years ago, I did the 19x8.5 +40 carlsson 1/6 evo's on a ka9, I also did a 19x9.5 +42 test fit, all of acura-legend.com knows about this including you.

Kurikoze also did a dropped 19x8.5 +43, it was still sunken in a bit. So the doors have been opened for the ka9, no need to be "not sure about fitment". The blueprint has already been laid out.

anyhow good luck with whatever u decide to do. Props to your suspension workings with the ka9.

Yeah, I think it will look nice too. I put the 18x9 +35's on the front and it pokes a tad. It can be fixed with some camber though. I am not sure if I am going to go with a concave face or something with nice lips on them. That will really be the deciding factor on the sizes.

I'm more partial to the lip sizing. I think the concave gives it a more racey feel. The aim gain pic above was my inspiration when I had an RL. Kind of wished I finished it instead of getting the gs300. I'd say get a nice set of coils/wheels and go for that kit above. By far one of the cleanest kits out for the car besides the mode parfume. Plus, you get exclusitivity for being the only one stateside with the kit.

My wheel fitment is better than that car in my opinion. The only thing is they are using 19's vs. my 18's

It's a clean and subtle appearance. If the wheels were different on that car then it would amplify the difference.

Qclass well let's see........ air-runner, couture - zauber royal effect mix/match kit - custom fitment 20" work d3s among many other things are a little more than "been there done that" no ?

there are the acura-legend.com "on a budget" / nico.com way of doing things and there are the VSC way of doing things.

just trying to suggest and help, not trying to create animosity.

oh and I don't approach every thread in this manner, only the frustrating ones that make me think "why would u want to do this" . .

You went as far as ordering an additional pair of zenetti heir's to get a staggered set up then you changed your mind.

i never bought an additional pair of zenetti's thos are now my winter rims, however i did get a really clean pair of SSR vienna Kreis from e bay.
money for me doesnt grow on trees

Very true. By chance, do you know what the kit is made of? Please don't say fiberglass. :(

The aimgain kit is made of FRP fiberglass reinforced resin. So is the mode parfume kit. when i was shopping around i wanted a urethane kit similar to oem. however there arent any it would cost too much. However i must say a jdm kit like aimgain, skipper, or blow designs mode parfume fit exactly to oem specs There is no irregular fitment with my kit. when i look at other stock rl's my aftermarket kit fits better than stock. hope this helps. pm me for a good source.

I lowered my car about another inch all around and now I am having clearence issues with my front upper control arms and shock towers. haha I had this same problem on my Civic and I am sure I can work around it I believe. Anyone have any ideas on how to deal with it? Maybe you all will have some different ones than I have.

Ah crap I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure I'm going to run into the same problem because I want mine really low.

Big hammer the fender well, or cut a hole in the shock tower.

Yeah, I am going to work it some with an air hammer and see what that does for me. I would rather not have to cut the shock tower but I will if need be. Raising the car isn't an option. I was actually thinking of cutting the shock tower and welding in a new shaped piece to allow more travel. We will see what happens though.

I am looking at a new set of wheels in the 19 inch variety and possibly a front under spoiler of some sort. Air is in the future as well.

Ok, so I believe my issue with the upper control arms hitting the shock tower have to do with the spring rates being too soft and allowing too much range of motion. As of right now I have 440 lb/ 8K springs on the front with Koni Red shocks. I spoke to Koni and they tell me that their shocks can control up to a 600 lb/ 11k spring. Any ideas on what rate I should go with? I am thinking 550 lb/ 10k.

Wow that lip is nice and great price! I would probably get the whole kit though as it looks larger than the Garage Answer lip.

Maxpower I vote yes with the MP kit!

Ah phew that makes sense.

0psi: I looked at a lot of different coilovers setups for the RL. Most companies like Insurance Group give the rates 12/6 for the RL. The RL is pretty heavy in the front. I would go with the 11k if that is the max.

I think you need to point out the sizes too. I think they were 18" right? 215/35/19 on 19x8 is going to be different than 215/35/18 on 18x8.

Yep, they run a little wide. I had a 225/40 on a 18x10 which is a similar stretch to a Falken 235/40
Great tyre too... Lasted over a year on over 6 degrees of camber

Yeah, I plan to stick with the same tire for my 19x8.5 215/35/19 19x9.5225/35/19 setup. That should stretch them just about perfect for what I need.
