99-01 headlights in a 97-98??????

Does anyone know how to retro fit the 99-01 hid headlights in a 97-98 Y33???

I know none of the harnesses are correct....can you purchase or wire in the newer harnesses?

Any help?  Please!

They physically bolt right in. Just purchase and wire in new harnesses to meet the requirements of having separate high and low beams. Autozone or advance auto parts should have harnesses.

How much do they normally run for?

Last set i found, a asshat ebay seller tried selling them to me for 300 each side.

on the back of my headlights(97) my plug is totally different then the 99-01...plus there is an extra female plug in the 99-01....
I will take pics to show you what I mean.....If you have never seen the back of a HID 99-01 and a 97-98 you'll know what I mean..

Im pretty sure there is another thread on here that shows pics of the different harness setup of the two lights. I remember reading about it a while ago before the site went under upgrade.

^ yeah, no kidding, can't call someone an asshat fo asking less than 1/3 of the retail price.  Hell, even the non-HID units are $900 EACH at the dealer.  I know someone who did the swap but he's vanished, no contact in almost a year, so can't help you but I'm pretty sure on FreshAlloy.com in the Q section or Nico you can find out what you need.

Well of course dealer prices are high.

This one was from one of thos online wrecking yards and the lights were a lil foggy and yellowish, not the best condition.

Cheapest I've seen on ebay was $700 + for one!
and I only can find the right side! Yet to see the left.........
but I haven't looked on ebay for parts for a long ass time now.....

I paid $450 for each....now, we are getting a little off subject here......

The female plug in the back of the hid (99-01) is different then the female plug for the 97-98......

can i splice in a harness from a 99-01 xenon in my 97?

or is there a old thread that talks about this mod?
I read the one where the guy had the jdm non hid for his 97 but that does not help at all.

My friend used the USDM HIDs and said he pretty much had to just splice his wires to the HID ballast which he had to mount somewhere and it works perfect.  Wish I could track that fool down for you.

It should be pretty simple.

You already have your spliced wires for the highs, and the lows, then your running/corners. The HID unit has the same setup just that the highs and lows are separate rather then on one connection.

If you could get the headlights with the ballist and both male and female connectors, just connect the power/ground wires needed on them ect.

Would be a lil more tricky if you didnt have the connectors.

Well, Scratch this idea............I just got rid of the HID's.....I think i'll just clear my stock and add a hid kit....much easier
