Wet sanding paint

I have some runs in my paint job. Not to mention some orange peel.  I have heard wet sanding and take down the runs.

Can you guys give me some tips on how to do this without wrecking my paint? thanks!

i've been using 1200 grit wrap'd in a piece of firm foam, rubber block, wood, or what ever i can find thats firm and straight.. something that would cover a little more than the run. then just sand the run until its even with the rest of the paint. if its a big run i might use 1000 or 800 git, but i try to stay in the higher grit because it doesn't take too much materal out.. too fast.. that way i could watch if i'm getting close to remove'n too much clear. don't wanna go thru the clear.. not bueno.. oh, and some soapy water for lube. running water works well also.. just keep the surface wet and clean.. (less debris)

regular wet sanding, i just wrap 1000 - 1400 girt paper around a thin flexible rubber block.. i also sand in one direction and not in an x pattern like i would bocking bondo, primer, etc..

i keep it lub'd a little soapy water.. 

keep in mind you have to buff it with a high speed buffer and proper buffing compounds

good luck wet sanding out the runs! take it back to whoever painted it, it sounds like u got shafted.

if its a run you want to sand out use a razor blade. hold the blade 90degrees to the surface and rub over lightlytill you start scraping a little bit off then finish off with wet sanding. this technique requires a high amount of skill and precision so dont f**** it up

Those "blocks" are called nibs, and would be the best tool to use if it's a run you can catch your fingernail on...which would almost be too big and labor-intensive to try and sand anyway. You should be able to get them from [url]www.eastwood.com[/url]
