AVIC-D3 DVD BYPASS SOLUTION.

i found this out over at [URL="http://www.avic411.com"]www.avic411.com[/URL] while searching for a way to watch dvds while driving.  it's a real easy trick...
 
1. locate the [B]mute[/B] wire on the wiring harness.
 
2. carefully remove the [B]mute[/B] wire from the harness and insert it in the slot directly above it.
 
3. ground the [B]mute[/B] wire to the chassis.
 
4. locate the [B]parking brake release[/B] wire.
 
5. ground the [B]parking broke release[/B] wire to the chassis.
 
that's it!  you can either ground each of them seperately or splice them into the unit's ground wire and then ground them at one point.  i still get the warning when i insert a dvd while driving, i'm not sure if it is always going to be like that, but it still plays.  a simple resetting of the unit may get rid of it and if it doesn't...oh well, it still plays.

I love all the people on eBay that are selling this "Secret" for like $15. All most sellers do is send you an email with what you just wrote above and they may send you a  few pictures and some actually will send you a new harness with the rewire done. Unfortunately my friend got scammed into it and got the info before I installed the unit not knowing it I already knew how to do it. Good info for by the way I'm sure there are alot who will appreciate it in the future.
 
What part of VA are you from? I see you have Gaithersburg as your location now. I just moved from Woodbridge about a year ago and worked up in Alexandria. Was in NoVA about 13yrs.
