Can anyone vouch?

Does anyone have either diamond audio www.diamondaudio.com speakers or focal speakers www.focal-fr.com and if so, are they worth the money?

they are both well respected (although i think diamond might have had some kind of buy out lately iirc). i have heard some of the top-of-the-line focals, and they were nice.

I used to run Diamonds in my old car and loved them. Another suggestion to add to the two you are asking about is Rainbow. Not sure what the price range of these are anymore but they are some of the best sounding components I've ever heard.

If you're into SQ then Focal is the way to go. Utopia components are reference speakers....and so is the price... :pat:

IMO diamond makes great amps. their subs are ok but their components are garbage. their tweeters are harsh as fuck and the mids just didnt sound good to me and this was all in a heavily deadened door properly installed.

focals however are some great sounding speakers, from their entry level stuff to their Be stuff. i personally love their k2 line since they tamed down their tweeter so it doesnt rip your ears out like the old tn51's (i believe those were the ones). the midbass out of the mids is fantastic and the midrange clarity is very good.

grab yourself a diamond amp, maybe sub too, and some focal components. or if u can afford it, skip diamond alltogether and get focal amps, components, and subs. focal makes some awesome amps.

I liked the diamond hex. (i also listened to some alpine spx series and those are just as good and cheaper than diamond hex).

Focal makes great components, no doubt, but they are also pricey. Their tweeters aren't too harsh but then again, it depends on which model you purchase.

Overall, between the two choices, I would go with focal.

i have used a both the Focals and Diamond Audio. Guess is really depends on how much your willing to spend.

In the Ody, I have the D971 and M651 and the SQ is just off the hook. But the Focal Utopia is also VERY NICE.

But regardless both companies make some great stuff.

The focals give great midbass and the tweeters aren't harsh as stated above. Focal would be my pick.

Both are nice brands, but that doesn't mean much if your install is crap. Any ideas on what you want to do?

I used to have the Focal polyglass V1's and thought they were fantastic... thats until I heard the DLS M6A's which are aprox the same price and the DLS blows those focals out of the water, more midbass from the DLS and the tweeter is not as harsh.... let me rephrase, not as "in your face".

the focals are no joke but they are expensive.

I second that... make sure you budget for sound deadening the door, if you don't than you can drop $1500 speakers in there and they won't sound as good as well installed $300 speakers.
