Q45 W/muffler delete???

Im thinking of doing the exhaust on my Q45. I was wondering if anyone here has removed the muffler added something like twin 3 inch tips. I kinda want to get a deep rumble out of the Q. Ive seen some guy on NICO do it but i dont know if it sounds good. I was thinking either that or adding two resonators after the cats and then getting something like magnaflow with twin in/out with some dual 3 or 3.5 tips...

I removed the rear muffler and added 2, 18" by 3", angled Magnaflow truck tips, looks awesome, sounds great.

Becaus eof the Aimgain exhaust, I'm jus gonna upgrade my 2 mid muffalars and maybe clean up some of that nasty piping...

I got the idea from Zion too.

This is right after it was done, about 1 week before the lower trim got painted.

This is a recent shot of the rear.

There is a bit of a drone inside the car at certain RPMs but it's not bad, on the freeway you can't hear it at all, and under throttle it sounds so fcking good I drive as much as I can with the windows down to hear it, but it's not loud, just a nice V8 rumble.

urmyhero4now: So your not using any type of muffler at all after the C.C? that must be crazy loud or how is it???

We need sound clips!!!

I knew a guy with a G50 who had straight pipes all the way back like that, Jesus Christ it's loud! It sounds bad-ass, but that's way too loud for my taste, I still want to be able to enjoy the quiet luxury cabin too. I just have the rear muffler off and it sounds like a stock Corvette, which is the closest thing I can compare to.

How do you like that intake? Did you notice any difference, and did it relocate the MAF?

Here's what mine sounds like, way mellow. This was a little over a year ago, the lower trim was all painted about 1 week after this. Gotta say that cause I hate the way it looks with the lower trim in black plastic, ugh.

Shucks, kragen whatever its called where you are from, Exact Jim Wolfe Replica intake can be made with an LS400 MAF adapter and a Universal 3" K&N filter for around $40. I love mine! Cant wait to get my exhaust done.

Hey how does your Aimgain sound? Do you have the JWT intake? I'm waiting for my jp exhaust to get here. Depending on the sound I might end up selling it and doing what Zion and FLS did

Thanks, I love the sound.

Aftermarket intakes on Q45's that are oil / gauze type are going to kill your MAF and you will gain nothing in the meantime besides sound. The Q's intake is very well designed, and it's true cold air from the factory. The MAF is directly behind the air box which is why it's so much worse on Q's (Nissan in general actually...) than other cars. I'd rather not have to replace a $600 MAF so I could have a cone air filter. If the MAF was near the throttle body, or much further up the line, I would consider a cone air filter, but with it's location, I'll just stick to OEM replacement every summer.

Well you could allways get one of the HKS or blitz filters that eliminate the need for reoiling...IF you upgrade your exhuast and what not your engine needs to breath better one of the main reasons it is highly reccomended to do both your intake and your exhuast...other wise its like driking a shake with a coffee straw...

The front of my car sounds really nice as well as her rear end..however I am thinking about letting this TENZO intake go and replacing it with one of those green sponge ones....

Like I said, the stock Q intake is an excellent design from the factory and I've seen charts that prove that aftermarket intakes flow NO better than stock, it's purely for sound. This is proven fact, not just opinion here. If anything, an Amsoil EAO air filter in the stock box might flow better, but it's so minimal it's really not worth it.

If you go on NICO you can dig them up, I don't go on there any more. But they're somewhere in the Q45 section.

I'll have to work on getting a sound clip but it sounds nice! VERY CLASSY! Not loud, not too quite.
I always wanted the JP exhaust until I got the AIMGAIN kit! JP sounds really good in the lexus! I'm sure you'll like it!

Nah, that can happen regardless, but now that it's clean, driving at least a few times at WOT each time you drive will help keep it clean. Sitting at idle in traffic and never flooring it is what leads to the carbon / gunk buildup in the TB =)

I wonder what would happen if I did that to my 740iL?? Just for what I call the "WTF Factor" and how much aftermarket anything costs for that car I was thinking about getting a custom setup but you wouldn't see the exhaust out the rear. BTW from the way that clip sounds I like the tone/sound of the exhaust.
