AirForce Air/Coilover
Anyone have any information on this company? Only thing I have is from Carson Toyota.
Carson-Lex;3205084 wrote:Its the AirForce Air/Coilover set up. It's very similiar to the Skipper Air Suspension Add On Kit, with the exception that it won't be near the $3700.00dollar price Skipper charges for their kit.
First note is that this system is for the entire coilover assy + the air bag assy already assembled and ready to install. I am currently waiting for specs on spring rates, and actual cost for the entire coiover plus the compressor and mounting set up. We are working to get a complete GB pricing for the entire kit, and will have pricing up shortly.
Here are the rest important notes of interest direct from the manufacturer
"The spring rate can be offered in any kind of rate you want , so each buyer can have their own spring rate. If the customer do not know about what kind of spring rate they want, we can just have it set at the Tein CS-T rates.
Most the time for small car like the IS , we offer 8/7 , for big cars like the GS we offer 18/13 ( dont need to worry its not hard at all , thats how mine is , ride bit harder then stock , but not so bad)
This kit can raise and lower the car. The cylinder can do a 3.5 finger gap from the lowest drop. So if the car is dropped , you can raise it up to 3.5 finger gap high, which is the same as the stock height.
The coilover is Full Length Adjustable , compared to Tein CS-T, it's way better. As an added plus, all our coilovers come with upper mounts with camber adjustment (F/R). Each cylinder comes with the dust cover to keep the dust out of the cylinder.
The Air valves are optional , for people who want to show off the car. It does not come with the kit, because some dont like the sound of the valve. The good thing about our kit is you dont need to worry about how to mount it in the car , because the tank and compressor and all other wire are all in the sub box, so all you need to is just plug the hose and power , just sit back and watch roll."
Well on to the pictures
Dropped (see pictures 4,6, & 7)
Raised (see pictures 5 & 8)
Coilovers work on this principle (see picture 9)

I saw that on CL. Pretty nice that you don't have to run plumbing except for the box.

looks like the roberuta kit too. If pricing is well below 3700, this is a very good option for those who want a little sport handling w/ enough ride height adjustability. I like the sub box all in one kit. kinda clever. would suck though if someone broke into ur car, saw that, and ripped it out thinking it was actually a sub box. hehe.

hehe o sh**T i almost forget about that,
but its much heavier then sub box, i dont think it will be that easy to steal
full tank of Air ....lol
cant wait to see how my shallen MX will look with my AIr set up

Sorry about the link mdenoga, I thought I had removed it all.
Anyway, does anyone have any information on the company or on the components they use? Is everything made in house or is it re-branded?

u do have to run the plumbing, otherwise there would be no way to get the air into the bags.
I think what they are trying to say is that you don't have to worry about installing the tank, compressor etc. It is all in that box!

i think that if its more than 1000 bucks, its worthless
2 or 3 inches of movement (is what it looks like) is not very useful for the guys that drive super low anyways.

yeah, what he said ^^^^ May as well do bags on coils
although, my sc could use sumthing like that because of the piping (and oil lines) that runs under the car and into the spare tire well.... I just dont wanna mess around with sumthing that could fail on me at the wrong time :(

So let me get this straight. I can adjust the coilovers to be pretty low and then go up or down 3.5 inches from there?

Yea, I did edit it... hehe, should of seen it before :) Anyways thanks.
I understand the product, what it does, etc. I'm mostly curious about the company. Never heard of them, but if they are based in the U.S. that could be a good thing for things like warranty and rebuilds. I am also curious as to what company makes the coil overs for them.

Also, the price of the kit is about $2700, which seems pretty good considering people have paid more than twice as much for the Bold World kit and thats just for the cup kit. This one includes the coilovers.

Damn the Roberuta clones are popping up all over the place... First there was the UmbrellaAutoDesign cups (5", for $3250, not inc coilovers), now these for under $3000 with coilovers
I wonder if they will sell without the coilovers though; for those with cars not in their listed range

Do these offer custom spring rates? 2700 is not that bad for the system with coilovers. As compared to the skp kit (3700) coilovers not included.

rear camber adjustment? from where? US 2nd gen GS guys don't have that. 2700 is too much. I mean, you cld builld your own setup for a lil more than that, and be alot better running, like tein SS or CS with a UAS bag setup. that would run you about 3k...WAY more height adjustability.

I already have the CS and if I go with UAS I'll be getting rid of the coilovers. It's not worth the money. I figure the UAS kit is about 2200 and aftermarket struts is another 300 + whatever fittings I'll be missing. I'd rather pay about the same for a true plug and play hybrid setup instead of trying to piece together my own stuff since I don't know how. I just want to see the kit on a 2nd gen GS first before I make my decision.

Exactly what would you be missing? I do believe it is a complete kit even for the CS versions. It's the height adjustability we're looking at. Ever have that high driveway you have to get up, or the long speedbumps that you would beach on if you are too low? sometimes 3.5 inches at full up isn't high enough for those who wish to really go low.
Slam your CS, and you'll be not that low, couple it with bags, and lower that psi a bit, you'll be way lower than the cs, and ride better...etc etc. and at the same time, if you need it, you'll be able to raise the car up to stock height practically.

thats what UAS is for......
whatever your car rides like before you take the coils off, it will ride hte same when on the UAS.
im a testament to that.

Does the Bold World setup have more travel? How high/low can the UAS kit go? I've asked several people who have UAS and they said the kit didn't come with every fitting they needed and they had to figure out what was missing.
Carson just showed pics of the controller. Looks like it's just a little keyfob you can use to control the height inside and outside the car.

You should direct that question to two members that have the bold world kit. (DVP and mrexecutive) I'm just wondering about the quality of the kit. Saw the pics of the key fob which just looks like a up and down button.

it depends on where you get it where i got mine from you can get a completely plug and play electric controlled UAS with Easystreet management setup.
its all in how much you want to spend, but ultimately it will be hundreds less than a japanese branded one (bold world etc)

really ?
are the UAS bags that stiff ? a bag is a bag right ?
my airrunner is nowhere near as firm as where my algernons used to be, and it made sense because one is a bag and one is a spring.
what gives UAS such a stiff characteristic ?

i did not want a smooth ride
i cant drive the way i want to on soft suspension
I have a performance coilover with the bags on it. So its going to be stiff becuase of that
springs only do so much, dampers are 80% of the equation.

Our bags are designed to be alot stiffer then more "bags" out there. Watch this video. http://www.universalairsuspension.com/bags.wmv That shows the before/after difference on a completely stock magnum. you can see the decrease in body roll just by changing over to our bags.
The Airrunner setup uses a sleeve bag which is alot softer then a single bellow bag (like our aero sport). If you look at most spring rate charts for the air springs you will notice that a sleeve will have almost no change through the middle of the stroke and even sometimes a decrease in load when it is compressed. A triple convoluted spring rate chart will have a little increase per inch. double is slightly stiffer, and a single is the stiffest (highest rate per inch). Now keep in mind that this is whats called a static spring rate charts. This is not taking into account the air pressure increase while your driving down the road. Some examples:
(Using firestone's industrial book all firestone bags, @ 100 psi, and inches are travel not overall height)
http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/pdfs/industrial/datasheets/IMPERIAL_PDF/EMDG_1t19L-11.pdf
14.2" Sleeve (largest sleeve in book) : 0"-11200lbs, 1"- 10600 lbs, 2"-9000 lbs, 3"-9100lbs, 4"-8900lbs, then it stays the same till 11" where its about 8800 lbs, 13" 8200lbs, 14"-8900, 15"-7000, then above that it doesn't recommend using.
http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/pdfs/industrial/datasheets/IMPERIAL_PDF/EMDG_313.pdf
15.1" triple bellow (smallest one in the book that i have) - It stays pretty liner rate at 500 lbs per inch of compression
http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/pdfs/industrial/datasheets/IMPERIAL_PDF/EMDG_21.pdf
15.1" double bellow (to stay same diameter as the triple) - It stays pretty liner rate at 666 lbs per inch of compression
http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/pdfs/industrial/datasheets/IMPERIAL_PDF/EMDG_113.pdf
15.2" single bellow (same as other bellows) - most of the chart is at 2000 lbs per inch except when its going to bottom out then it drops to around 1000 lbs per inch.
If your wondering why the rates are so high its because i am trying to find where all 3 different air bags are as close as possible to each other in diameter so we can compair how the rates are changing with the different style of bag construction, not the different diameters.

http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/pdfs/industrial/datasheets/IMPERIAL_PDF/EMDG_21.pdf

For the fittings our kits are designed to put the rear valves together (4 on stick) and the fronts paired up (2 for each corner) . The tanks are ment to have a Tee in one port, then 2 ports for the compressors, 1 for psi switch and 2 for outputs to front/rear. If you install them different then that you will use different fittings. Now if you know ahead of time of how your going to lay it out i will gladly set you up with all of the fittings that you will need.
Just an update on this AirForce kit, I grabbed a set and will be doing full pictures/writeup as soon as I get it.
For those that don't know me, I already have a Tein CS/UAS bag combo. For me, I didn't buy the AirForce because I think it's better than TeinCS/UAS combo, I'm just into new things and the price was right.
My driving style is ride low, lift to clear driveways, park and slam even lower.
I can already tell with the AirForce kit, it'll be a fixed height at the lowest drive setting, then lift 3-3.5" to clear things and drop it down back to the normal drive height. It seems limited in that sense, but I could be wrong.
Worse case scenario, I can always dump the AirForce and build me another Coilover/Bag combo...
Pictures and writeup to come in 8-10 days...

Unfortunally that is just too low for a ride height, any turning you will hit the fenders with the tires and any ripple in the road you will drag the under carrage.
a normal ride height is about 1" over the tires.

That sucks... I drive with tyres tucked around 1" front and 1.5" back.
My dream suspension would let me drive 1" lower than that, with the ability to raise 2" from that height when i get to my driveway. This is why these coilover/air hybrids sound so good to me!

Heh... cant get further from the truth! my own street has so many dips and bumps that my window-sill tables (those carmate ones) fall off before i get to the end.
Its a pretty bumpy ride, but it stays composed (unlike my previous rides which were hella bouncy!)

I understand the product, what it does, etc. I'm mostly curious about the company. Never heard of them, but if they are based in the U.S. that could be a good thing for things like warranty and rebuilds. I am also curious as to what company makes the coil overs for them.
