Says 250whp now, but only at 7psi. He's looking to get 400whp as a goal in the 10psi range, after fuel management and tuning.

The trans is going to be the weakest link, if he builds it maybe success. I wonder if it would of been cheaper to just swap a 2jz in it.

nope. I thought about doing it on my first gen LS. LOT of work involved. Only know of 2 people to have actually done it successfully. Both required a long line of credit or cash and time.

this dude is on an safc, custom manifolds, piping, and all stock other than that.

7psi is like the most he can handle right now, just needs bigger injectors, and a piggy back system, bump that beezy up to 10-15 psi like nothing.

i dont know why people whould turbo charge there luxury cars when its automatic. What a waste of power. Unless they are gonna change the tranny for a 5 speed.

Did you just say that?

Do you realize how many cars are automatic that are ridiculously fast?

Do you realize how many fast aristo's there are that are still automatic?

You could get a race transmission built for probably cheaper than a v160 swap.

It will shift faster than a human can, and will never 'miss shift'.

WHY would you even say that... I feel like I'm on youtube lol.

there fast but not as fun to drive as a manual. My gs400 300hp is not even close to being as fun as my mr2 turbo pushing over 300 rwhp. You just dont that much control over the power. You cant redline and find that sweet spot on your motor. Down shift, play with the clutch for the perfect launch. The best aristo ive seen is the black one with black volks...i think from Vip style magazine when they had an aristo issue. It was all turbo charged with a supra 5 speed transmission. Now that was sick. dont get me wrong...i do give props to people supping up there automatic luxury cars...but id rather turbo charged a 5 speed manual car. And cruz in a luxury car.

You do realize that the only supra that came with the 5 spd was the NA, or a 1jz version right, not trying to rag you, but the v160 is a 6 speed. Yes it will be more fun to drive, i do agree that you have more control over the car, but still, it's still way more fun to roll around town in a 10 second automatic 'grandpas' car.

your mr2 is a helluva lot lighter than your gs400, and you can still find that sweet spot with using the manual shifting option on your 400. shoot, supercharge or turbo that badboy, you'd be having a lot more fun in that badboy than you think.

there's a few 400's that are running around supercharged or turbo'd...they are crazy.

If you just want to go fast, slushbox is the way to go. And you do realize that plenty of luxury cars come with forced induction....Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda (their supercharged Miller cycle was pretty innovative IMO), etc.

If you want a quick fun car, then you want that third pedal. But then again, I've seen a few Aristos on the Wangan with a built 4AT passing a tuned a Skyline GT-R.

I think it all comes down to preference and shows what a GS can do...sports or cruiser :D.

it all depends on what the car is built to do, everyone one knows of the th400 being a bitchen drag trans, and dont let autos fool you, the th400 keeps your engine at the freakin sweet spot. hell i drive my freaking 7m around on the freeway without over drive reving about 4k going 70, pulls really nice. there is a cressida in austrailia with a built auto and a 1.5jz-gte hitting 9.8's in the quarter with a roll cage and full interior.

5 speed is better in my opinion, because my left foot wont fall asleep as often, and downshifting in a grandpas car is just soo coool :D

and a vid for the auto non-believers

All these silly arguments...haha. We have too much time on our hands..and since someone started to mention twin turbo Aristo's...here's my favorite.

I'm at work, I'm assuming this is the white one that crashed. It was also single'd, and i thought it had a v160 conversion done...idk. I'll check it when I'm at the house.

Yah, not sure all what they did to it..the motor changed a few times. After the last changes it had like 1200ps or something rediculous. So yah, don't quote me, not my car, but I liked it...while it was still alive.

you obviously havent spent much time around a dragstrip. All of the fastest cars are automatic, they are more consistant. And in a turbocharged application maintain boost between shifts since you dont have to lift the gas pedal.

auto supra turbos are actually faster than their N/A counterparts for the above listed reason. The difference in drivetrain loss is negligable between the 2 at relatively higher HP levels.

im not talking about dragstrip...this is a vip website not 2fast2furious cl. what we strive here is who has the best fitting wheels, stance paint and body kit not which one has the bigger exhaust or headers. wtf.... i would never tear up my aristo motor by putting a bolt on turbo kit, open up the motor and change for a low compression pistons, thicker head gaskets, change up the ecu, change the whole fuel system...gut up the interior, put shitty wild cams so itll idle like shit. , put a roll cage:pat: . No way. vip is about going low and slow. its obviously you havent spent much time around this website to understand what vip is all about.
