#120873FGY33 Infiniti Q45/Nissan Cima JDM Side Marker install
Here's another DIY for that JDM Cima look. The measurements supplied are for use with the Nissan factory amber lights or Nismo Clear Lens version. I can't say how many of these of done for friends, so I think I have a pretty foolproof method. First off you'll need a few items:
-Side marker lens, 1 pair, color of your choice (These are also the same used on R33 and R34 Skylines.)
-Dremel Tool w/ reinforced cuting wheel or several standard cutting wheels
-razor blade
-ruler
-masking tape
-hard playing card, from a standard 52 card deck
-a sharpie or pen
For the wiring part you will also need:
-Wire crimping tool
-bulb sockets with wires
-bulbs
-electrical tape
Using the razor blade start off by cutting a rectagular hole in the playing card just big enough for the lens to fit. This is a trial and error phase. It's much easier to cut away at a playing card and if you mess up you got 51 more! =D
After fitting the lens without warping the card, draw a perimiter line around the lens and note the distance on the card. In this instance 4.13in from the body moulding and 3.93in from the door.
Sorry for the blury pic...use the perimiter line to measure the distances and used the masking tape to set in place. Remember measure twice, cut once.
Now you can use the Dremel Tool to cut the hole. Using a reinforced cutting wheel takes longer but the doesn't break. Standard wheels cut faster but are more fragile.
Make sure you place a long strip of masking tape to catch the piece you are cutting out, before you cut off that final piece of metal. to keep it from falling in the fender.
Bam, you now have a perfectly placed side marker hole.
Now test fit your lens, and adjust hole as necessary.
-Wiring involves removing the headlight to access the back of the corner lamps.
-Each headlight is held on by several 10mm bolts.
-The left side required removing the battery.
-The right required removing the front portion of the air filter box.
-Use a straighted metal coat hanger to run wire form the corner light opening to the side marker hole.
-Tapping the wire is pretty staight forward, red to the positive wire, black to the ground wire and test before reassmbly.
