Differences between 02-04 and 05 Q45

what are the differences and the advantages/cons in both.

did they fix the high oil consumption in the 05?

things i know(or think i know):

-05 has body chrome trim (love that)
-05 front end has changed (does this mean i can use the JDM grill? or do i have to do a hood swap and stuff)

those are the only 2 things i know. please help me out. thanks!

hood is different 
don't know about JDM grill...on the 02-04 it almost fits.  Sticks out alittle.

Ok the oil consumtion problem is only on early model 02's. I dont have that issue. It was fixed on all late model 02's and was no longer an issue on anything after that.
 
No you cant use a 02-04 grill on a 05-06

The only interchangeable parts that will swap directly and not depend on any other parts are the headlights and side moldings.

-Metal knobs
-Better leather (same found in high end Jaguars)
-Keyless entry
-Bluetooth
 
Sport suspension actually has a noticeable difference when you switch from normal to sport mode.
Car feels like it has more torque thanks to the higher gear ratio.
Alot of the features found on the 02-04 premium's are stock on 05-06's
 
Theres more but thats all I can think off of the top of my head.
 
Parts for an 05 are nearly impossible to find since about 1500 total sold from 05-06. Parts from the dealer are very expensive and they often dont have them in stock. Just to give you an idea, $1300 each headlight and $600 plus shipping for the hood and thats without the chrome trim which will run you about another $125.

damn. just for those 2 reasons i want the 05! oh and i believe they have power door closers. make that 3 reasons.  too bad theres only like 1 on island here lol.

They do. Also automatic trunk openers (dont know how that will hold up with a heavy ass aftermarket spoiler though) and trunk closers.
 
Also forgot to add, softer Lexus like paint. Pearl paint is still standard

my 03 has automatic trunk opener and closer. but like you said the opener doesnt work well with sound deadening and a jp wing lol.

Do they have the power door closer, or do you mean the trunk? I also noticed that the later cars, more of them have the active cruise control and heated and cooled front seats. I like the seats, but the active cruise control may interfere with the radar/laser detector.

well mine has the trunk opener and closer,  but the 05+ has power trunk AND doors. and yeah heated and cooled seats are good, but i dont like perforated leather =\ the cooling effect is decent but its not that great.

what do you mean by keyless entry, like as soon as you walk up to the door, it unlocks without even using the alarm? or do you mean keyless like you just have to push the remote button. because most cars have that really.

what did they change on the headlights. i heard a rumor no one uses that 7 projector technology anymore because it was too bright for public roads.

also the 02-04 have bluetooth i believe.

leather is double stitched now
gauges lights are white


wikipedia says they have darker maple trim. did they replace the rich brown trim they have on the 02-04? i think thats the perfect color.

also wiki says they use a new transmission.

btw in US did it only go to 05 and japan go to 06?

If the key is on you, could be in your bag, pocket etc. the doors will unlock.
 
03+ has bluetooth. 
 
The leather is double stiched in 05-06 and much softer. It feels like a baseball glove. 
 
I already mentioned the transmission higher gear ratio.
 
As for the headlights, the 05-06 are the same just cosmeticially different. They still have the 7 projector headlights. No one uses them because you can get equal to or better light output with a single projector. Not to mention most single projectors are cheaper.
 
No it went to 06 in the US too but like I stated, only 1500 sold in two years total from 05-06.
 
We wont get any of the jdm president parts since they stopped making the f50. All the parts would be from the dealer whihc is $$$$ plus shipping is an arm and a leg on a item like a seat

i agree. our headlights arent really that bright considering how technical they are. my friends 06 s2000 projectors are way brighter. now that i have 6500k hid's his 4300k is so much brighter it almost isnt fair. if i went with 8000k or above i could imagine it being so dim compared to the s2000 it would seem like he had his halogen high beams on or something because the light is so bright, and so yellow compared to my f50.
porsche projectors are mega-bright too...BUT i still love how cool the 7 projectors look with upgraded hid's :shrug:  wouldnt trade em up for any others =)    i WILL be trying to get my hands on some metal knobs from japan.

You can get them at the dealers here.  I havnt seen any on YAJ but if you do find them in japan, give me a heads up.  Its not like I will ever run into your car so you can still be the only one with metal knobs in your town =)

lol ill let u know. i got a friend going to the motherland soon so im going to have him source me a couple. hopefully from a junkyard or somethin.

shiet i aint worried about that kind of petty stuff man. i do interiors first because thats what i see the most. i could care less if other people have the same stuff. im always down to help out other Q owners.

oh yeah i wanted the jdm ones cause of the jdm buttons. LOL. thought it would be funny.  im painting over all the english on the car anyway. so the only words on the dash will be characters.  i got jdm doorsills and trunk garnish on the way still. i dont want my car to have anything infiniti except the hornpad cause i hate the nissan emblem ehehe.

Dam the more I hear, the more I realize how alike we think lol. I want to get rid of all the Infiniti stuff too. Im doing the JDM dash peice since the screen in bigger. You can soarce them cheap on YAJ. Im all about helping Q owners as well thats why I get rid of parts for close to nothing.
 
As for the air bag, same here, hate the nissian emblem.  What Im doing is getting it wrapped in leather but I need an emblem on there or something because it will look naked.  I will think of something and let u know on pm's
 
I have the lights in my other house but everytime I go there, I get so caught up with working on the house and I forget to take pics for you. Im trying to finish up some things so we could start moving in two weeks. Ill put a reminder on my phone so this time I'll get you the pics.
