Any recommedations on replacement OEM Nav System

Forum image

Hello Everyone,
I have a 1998 LS400 and was wondering if any of you out there know of anybody that has replaced their oem navigation systems with an aftermarket system? I have seen pics of the AVC-D3 and it looks great, was wondering if something like that can take the place of my nav screen. As all you know the last update for the nav system is based on the mapping of 2005. Its 2008 and the 2005 mapping will soon become obsolete as cities and highways are always expanding. All help is greatly appreciated.

What up Kevin. I don't know too many people who have replaced their oem navi's for aftermarkets but i highly suggest going with the avic-d3 if u do decide to do that or wait for a new update on the maps. Haha. Goodluck with your search.

hehe at least you dont have a new lexus. than i would have to say good luck on trying to get rid of your oem deck. since the climate controls are all built into the unit. so you either go full option on the new lexus or be shit outta luck. but i havent really seen anyone check out their deck in their ufc21 yet. you shall be the first i believe :]

Yo Kev (JP/LS hahahha!)

GO w/ the D3 HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!
It's been one of my best investments!!!!
Has all your music at yourfinger tips w/ the ipod feature and the Navi works great and is very accurate! Most bang for the buck! Also fits right in w/ little to no modifications!

food for thought if you are wanting to add to your stereo system i would also look at the alpine's the perfect FIT system. it will allow you to integrate into your factory system with anything you could want and it will show up on your factory display unit.

The Alpine VehicleHub Pro lets you add aftermarket components such as amps or processors to your factory installed system, regardless of vehicle brand and dashboard configurations. You can continue to use your factory equipment, but use the Orb, advanced command unit, to control your entire system. Possibilities to expand are extraordinary, you can even create a full 5.1 surround system by adding one of Alpine's multi-channel processor PXA-H701. The best part is, you won't lost any of your factory functions like telephone or navigation, and you won't need to permanently remove any of your stock display. Maintain your dash and still upgrade your system, all for an affordable price!

Full Speed Connection for iPod lets you enjoy all your favorite iPod tracks on the road. View Playlist, artist, album, and song search right on the screen of your head unit. There’s no need for bulky interface boxes, just a cable (KCE-422i) that connects your iPod directly to your Alpine. Forget FM transmitters and forget static, hollow sound. Full Speed Connection also supports Apple lossless playback. With Alpine, you can take your iPod on the road and sound good while you’re doing it. You can even enjoy the music on your Apple iPhone using the Full Speed Connection. [/CENTER]
