Is this a "do" or "don't" for VIP?

I'm wondering if stripping the whole interior of a used Lexus "carefully" and cleaning every nook and cranny missed by detailers and sound deadening the entire car including floor, ceiling, trunk, doors, firewall, hood liner, pillars and trunk deck using Quiet Car coating and some luxury liner to top it off or extra butyl mats on "bass prone" areas, get the OE carpet cleaned better, and changing the OE floor mats with better, softer and 3M stain resistant carpet with a custom embroidered in gold Lexus or Toyota badge with some crystals on em a bad idea ("a don't") or a perfectly good idea (a "do") for VIP car tuning?

Will making the engine more powerful using JDM parts a good thing or bad? Also, will using Philippine made rims-something like this: [IMG]http://www.conceptonewheels.com/wheels/Carlton.gif[/IMG]





Be a really bad idea for VIP style tuning if the owner can't find (or afford) JDM rims that look good for his ride?

Everything was good until those wheels (although some people like crystals and some don't).  Tell him to save his money and find some nice used wheels.  They don't cost all that much more and he'll be far happier.

A set of brand new TSWs can cost as much, or almost as much as a set of used higher quality wheels in near perfect condition.

I hate TSW's. They're so ugly and cheap looking. I agree that used wheels would be much better.

If you wanna start inside out (I mean interior job 1st), hold on to stock wheels until you have enough dough to buy nice rims. I know a lot of guy who start with unbranded/fake rims who regret the decision after they bought the stuff. BTW, that kind of rims have no value when you wanna traded in for a new set of wheels.

I personally would like these rims if I get a white or silver Lexus, [IMG]http://www.eliteautostyle.com/products/wheels.jpg[/IMG] but I don't know where to find em deep dished...


BTW: My dad told me he would get me those TSW rims if I like em, he's on a business venue (company pleasure trip) in the Philippines for a month and told me those only cost 300bucks a set brand new in 19"s. The moment I saw em, I didn't like it because they aren't deep dish rims with a 9"++ width...

Ummm.... I gotta ask something, well I sometimes suck on parallel parking without the blind spot mirrors and I want nice and big rims. Are there tires that can protect nice rims from being scratched by the curb?

The size of the lips depends on the widths and offsets. Higher width, lower offset will get you deeper lips. Problem is, stock fenders will not allow you to run deep lips. You might as well run the stock wheels until you have some more dough for a nice used set. 
 
VIP is about running quality parts that have a prestige. The wheels may be $300 but tires will run you 500-600 more. For 1300-1700, you can score a nice set of used wheels with tires. On top of that, they will fit better and most likely have more lip

I say spend the money on maintence, a kit, paint job tell yo dad to stop being so cheap! Hahahhaha! Naw on the real! Cheap rims aint ever good! They didn't way too easy and jus look cheap! I know it's a hook up! BUt VIPstyling isn't cheap at all and we can tell if it's a cheap rim!!!
Those rims looked dubbish anywayz!!! The guys are right though buy some used rims from the folks here on the fourm! There's MANY great sets floting around!!!

All I can say is practice.  There is a Euro wheel I believe Smitz(sp?) have lips that can be driven on with no tires and will not damage or get nicked

Use your mirrors when you parallel park. Most cars, especially luxury have power mirrors now, just use 'em to look at the curb.

Newer luxury cars have mirrors that automatically do it :D

Theres tires that will give you the stretch look but also giving you a extra safety to keep you from curbing your rim. But a hard enough impact will curb your rims no matter what.

And redoing your interior, can be a good or bad idea. If your up for the job, then go for it. Building a show quality car, sometimes owners go out of their way to do this.

I know of builders that even cleans their transmission and all the dirty stuff just because they want everything on their car clean.

And listen to everyone else on the rims.

Can you use "German" rims for Vip rides?

Only high quality  German wheels.  Brabus, Lorinser, BBS, etc.

Yes, it's done in Japan frequently.  Like WidebodyQ stated but only if the "style" is appropriate.  Vip is highly influenced by European cars..especially lately.

Schmidt are HIGH quality rims, but the designs aren`t that well suited for VIP cars.
But they sure as hell are pricey enough. Their 3pc rims in 9.5x19 cost $1600 EACH!!!

ditto , without a 4-6 inch lip , your venturing into DUB territory imho..... especially picking a rim like tsw that your local tire salesman carries in stock...

Not all of them do..but they aren't exactly a Honda Fit.  The 95's you'll want to stear clear of..they had electrical problems.  Look for a 96 or 97 if you want that model.
