what do you think of the rising sun hood?

i got bored and tried it out very crappy because i used paint on my computer haha[ATTACH]1162[/ATTACH]

doesnt look right, maybe if the sun was towards the front passenger side it would look better.

The [I]rising sun[/I] flag doesnt sit well with Amercans much. You should research things from other countries before putting them on your body or car ;)

Have you seen the flat gray GS w/ that on it's roof?
if not I'll posted when I get home

As long as Dixie flags are okay, I don't see why Japanese Imperial flags shouldn't be.

depends on where you go...and who u run into. :sad: both are fucked up flags and represent fuck up times in history. 
 
reminds me of people who get 'Asian Tats' but dont know WTF they say, beyond what the hillbilly guy (who hasnt mastered the english language yet) at the counter tells them:smiley-rofl:

oookay... if you're talking about Pearl Harbour, it's unfortunate, but that's not what the radiant rising sun flag means.

It's merely the Japanese Naval Ensign. It was adopted in 1889. I don't think you're saying the Japanese are evil, so I think it's safe to say you're overreacting on this one.

it was used by Japanese imperial government (before) and during the war ...they dont even use it anymore for that reason....and the fact that they lost =) 
 
Maybe its because my family is US Military. I love some of the stuff in Japan as much (even more sometimes) than the next guy or gal...but dont get it twisted, when it comes down to it, Im all about THIS country and those who fight for it. 
 
At the end of the day, its his car and I could care less what he does with it...but he asked for opinions =) 
 
Bottom line is, It jus wont sit well with sum people, no matter how hard some folks jock [I]all things Japan. [/I]

Don't worry, canada doesn't even have a standing army. 

And yes, that symbol is a representation of the navy of japan. The ones who attacked pearl harbor. The only (other now) time that we've been attacked on US soil. You go hang out with some wwII vets, or even die hard army guys, you are asking for it. 

You ever have anybody die in a war? then go and see someone rocking that nations war flag? you'd not like them i presume. maybe not go so much as to hate them, but it still wouldn't be cool to have them rocking it around flaunting it in front of you. 

BUT if you love hondas, they love doing this on their valve cover and hoods all the time.

Its like the very questionable "Divine Wind" sticker on several cars I saw at a drift event.  I wonder if those guys even know the implications of that phrase and its Japanese origin.

I do not see anything wrong with the Japanese naval ensign (still in use by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces today) or the Confederate States of America "stars and bars" flag (still on some state flags and seals today).  Its all a matter of perception good, neutral, or bad.

Ultimately its your car, do what you want.  But like DriftGirl says you take your chances with it.  Some will like it, some will automatically be offended.

Wow i'm surprised how touchy the japanese imperial flag is. Certainly makes me reconsider my swastika sunroof =?

i should tint my brake lights so when you step on them they light up as the rising sun  !

To the younger generation the Rising Sun simply appears as a cool little logo and something that, most people don't have a clue as to what it has stood for in the past.


Here's some pretty interesting stuff i came upon.
The US Navy used a version of that symbol as the logo for the VF-111 "Sundowners" Fighter Squadron.

symbols, no matter where used, should be researched as to their true meaning, or history of the design. as a for,er military member i can see that the design looks cool, but will never go on one of my cars for the history of it!:slap:

About to have the roof of my Starion painted the current flag design.

I think it does look good on old school cars though.
