EXE Crown (d3s owners get the tissue box ready)

It's not an exact replication but close enough.

the spokes are a bit longer and more concaved to give off more lip.

props to EXE for changing things up.

and D3S owners just be glad we have the real thing, it was bound to happen. A design this powerful and popular was bound to have some kind of copy cat.

Not a bad looking wheel. There are some things about it I even like better than the D3S, and somethings I don't.

Still pretty obvious where they drew their 'inspiration'.

It's not exact replica, It's close but things have been slightly changed. In addition, The lip is just brushed machine finish.

but unlike the real deal, U don't get that nice genuine, mirror polish lip. That part where the real two pieces meet, that's the sexiness!

They usually do it so it will clear big brakes with whatever specs. Not bad for a knockoff I suppose. Better then the sportmax Fabulous ones IMO. When they start selling Euroline dh knockoffs stateside its over. I believe even in japan theres a lot of 1 piece dish type knockoffs.

Well, let's say your wheels are super low disk already. There's no way you'd clear big brakes without a fat spacer, right?

Exactly, but why waste time with spacers when you can get a high disk low offset wheel vs a low disk wheel with higher offset and a spacer to compensate for the same effective offset.

chrispy,

concave is a style, many jdm wheels have it, it is not a matter of "dub" style.

and do u know how "high disk" works in correlation with offset? why would u rather use a spacer? that is just ignorant and proves a lot of what u understand, or DON'T understand.

U can already get the knock of style euroline DH here in the states, but the knock off traits are obvious.

and besides, no knockoff can give u that REAL HIGH POLISH MIRROR LIP and that separation between the two-three pieces.

this EXE crown design actually makes me appreciate the original flat face design of the d3s.

there was a reason why Work decided to use the blockish flat face-right angle approach to the face rather than the curved face (for more lip). Although less efficient for lip size, the protruded, thick angular flat face gives it a more blockish, stronger, bolder look.

outer concave faces suk period..inner concave faces are way better.

Qclass you say that chrispy is ignorant but if he prefers low offsets with a spacer thats his perogative, you dont have to name call him becuase its not your way..

..uuumm uuumm didn't you just post a thread about how to release air out of your tank...I dont have air and I know how to drain air out of air tanks. Your words working against you "that is just ignorant and proves a lot of what u understand, or DON'T understand."

now that I am a little more educated on wheels and what not I would not rock these wheels..as I know they are knock offs. The WORKS look 1,000,000 times better any day of the week..

i have mixed feelings on these. they are decent looking and axis makes decent wheels (by no means high end). i don't really see it as a rip off. wheel companies follow each other and thats just the way it is (as far as i'm concerned lowenhart originated that style not work). the convex face has its pros and cons. where it really falls short in my eyes is the 1 piece design. definitely not up to vip standards, but cool for your average joe just looking for some decent wheels.

^^^^^yeah but I guarantee you that from the side of these wheels you will see the face bubbling out and wont notice any lip..this style is called fake lips..I do agree with you that for someone not into wheels as much as VIP enthusiats are or other folks that really appreaciate a quality wheel, will not care and will buy what ever is the cheapest they can find...Most folks around here will go to a wheel shop and end up with what ever is in stock and in thier budget and drive away satisfied..while the ballers will custom order wheels and waite till they come in..and those other folks will look at those wheels and say why dont mine look like that...

hey zion, hope your having a good day.

why would u order a new set of wheels with plans to use spacer? WHY WOULD U RATHER USE A SPACER when YOU COULD ACHIEVE THE SAME RESULTS BY ORDERING THE PROPER SIZE?

Please explain as I'd like to understand your thinking.

And my question in regards to DRAINING MY TANK was just that, A QUESTION which admits that I didn't know how it worked.

I've also heard THAT OPENING UP THE AIR TANK TOO FAST CAN POTENTIALLY RIP OFF YOUR ARM AND CAUSE DAMAGE, a pretty good reason for the question no?

that one post about "draining the tank" actually provided a lot of help and knowledge to A LOT of people. So I have actually in a way, contributed in a BIG way. Unlike saying "id rather use a spacer than go high disk". Which is factually IGNORANT and spreads FALSE information to many newbies or potential buyer of wheels.

i went back to look at the lowenhart wheel that i feel was the originator of this style, and it has the convex face as well. the work also comes away from the mounting point, only in a more blocky way which actually hides lip (the thread where a member got his gs ds3 in high front offset comes to mind).

Well what if you can't afford brand new wheels, what if you only can afford some used wheels that you really like and were super low offsets and you wanted to make them fit?? Spacers would be neccessary if you had big breaks and are much cheaper than $4000 set of wheels wouldn't you agree.. There are many different reasons..Just cuase its not YOUR way does not mean its the wrong way or an ingnorant way..Folks use spacers all the time..I just don't agree with name calling, there are other wayz of getting your point across without calling folks out..

Oh yes I wanted to add, are you not selling wheels WITH spacers for better fitment and calling them a +12??????

The reality is that the EXE fitments (width & offset combinations) are weak
and that's where spending the big $ for the real thing makes you guys shine!

BTW, when the spoke bow back like that, it's convex, not concave.

A wheel that curves away from you near the center of the wheel is concave
(like the OE 19" BMW 745i wheel or a Honda Odyssey Touring OE wheel)

These EXEs are a good example of 'convex'... a clever way to gain additional lip
at the expense of making the face of the wheel look visually a little smaller
than a flatter profile would.

convex is what i was thinking also.

but ive been bored and took a bunch of iq tests today, so i felt all brainy, when i actually knew what you guys meant.

wheels look cool, gotta have spacers to get those flush, probably only safe offsets available

as far as the exe line goes it's a fairly decent looking wheel but with a price tag roughly $200ish cheaper than a 2/3 piece wheel it's not so much of a great buy.

why would u order a new set of wheels with plans to use spacer? WHY WOULD U RATHER USE A SPACER when YOU COULD ACHIEVE THE SAME RESULTS BY ORDERING THE PROPER SIZE?

just to clarify, the custom forged spacer adapters are pure plug and play bolt on. They were custom ordered made specifically for infiniti nissan hubcentric to infiniti center bore. I used these when I had my MRR venerdi wheels all with no problems.

No need to remove the hub or modify the lug bolts. You simply bolt on the adapter and voila! done! very simple and no need to take to shop. No problems at all and all hubcentric with no wobble's etc

.

this is a used set, I was talking about ordering a new set. In case u missed the thread, given the chioce, the guy was saying he'd rather order new wheels with low disk and use spacers rather than order the right size without a spacer.

there is a difference, do u not see the difference ? If you still don't know the difference please take it to PM.

also spacer adapters are awesome! I used them on my mrr venerdi wheels, no-othr also used spacer adapters on his mrr venerdi wheels, V8-aristo also uses spacers on his wicked aristo. Spacer adapters are great !

can u just move on ? go on and let it be.

Qclass, I thought it was important for people to see how you would respond when it is you who is using the same spacers. I was wondering if you would still think its ignorant. I really dont think those wheels you had where used but if you say so.. You asked me about my explanation as to why you would use a spacer...and the same responce I gave you now gave..I am not trying to start a fight with you but I do want you to be able to see things through just more than one door...

case n point.

I will move on.

Have a nice weekend:biggthumpup:

I never had a problem using spacers AT ALL and never told anyone they were ignorant...I still plan on using spacers up front when I get smaller tires...my camber is awsome up front but I need some spacers to make it sit flush with the fenders..
