DISH: Who came first?

I'd like to find out once and for all:

Who did the original dish style (other than AMG)?

Was it SSR? Wald?

And for comparison, all the dish wheels I could find.:biggthumpup: 
For the purpose of the thread though, I'm keeping it to one face style, hence the Work DZ, and Amistad D not being included.

They all are slightly different but personally, I love the Work and rays  the best.

I like Work, Rays, and Amistad.

i guess no one knows. we need to carbon date the oldest one we can find. haha. but i have a new question now. which wheel style was replicated the most? its funny seeing so many wheel makers making almost exactly the same design all next to each other. i know there are probably hundreds but it was just a thought.

I think of Eagle wheels when I see that design. haha

you heard it here first... the pride of the jdm/vip enthusiast is a 80's-90's usdm knock-off. i present the prime hammer. :smiley-rofl:

I believe AMG aero I (then there was aero II)  was the first ever dish-hammer style.

they made them in 1 piece mono and multi piece. The multi piece was the sh*t, I remember seeing them in old tirerack magazines. There was no such thing as reverse lip back then so all their multi piece set ups were in thick step lip form. freaking sick.

*edit* i still think the prime is the wheel that caught the attention of jdm companies. that s**t was popular for like 10 years, and minus the 1 pc construction they are almost identical. japan follows us just like we follow them.

Yeah, I think the origins of this style are German.

AMG and Lorinser popularized it. I always think of the Lorinser D93 and RSK3.
Then the "Hammer" knock-off wheels everybody was putting on their Sentras back
in the early 90s. Was never a huge fan of the style myself, except on a big-body car.

When I started seeing them on Sentras, Escort GTs and Cavaier station wagons, that
was pretty much the death-knell for me.

RSK3 Lorinser and D93 Lorinser:

HRE also makes a similiar wheel in their 540 and 540r lineup.  Theres litterly like a 100 different wheels all with the same design.  I still think the orgins are from Germany and my second guess would be the US.

I've always thought the had a Mercedes origin. But dish is like mesh, there's millions of different wheels with a similar design. Just pick your favorite one.
